That is such a badass truck, it is one of the small wheelbase trucks, with a whole lot of motor. Even with ballast in the bed it breaks the tires loose on a highway on ramp, looks like a blast to drive. The issue of heat soak with the starter it seems to be a common issue when headers are used on small blocks, (I think it’s the way they wrap around and under her block below the starter) I’ve had that happen on a few Chevys I’ve owned. Looks like a real sharp driver, and some nice subtle modifications. I wouldn’t mind owning one!
When it wouldn't start there, my first thought was "heat soaked starter". He's gotta put a shield on that thing! Oh, the fun of cramming a larger motor in a small engine bay.
I’m not really a “truck guy” (we don’t have them in England) but if I was this is exactly what I’d have, clean and simple not too showy, definitely a sleeper 😎👍
Steve Daire I’m not either but this little one sells you. Cruising along around 40 mph, stand on it and get a little kick a little spin and then it hooks and pulls!
Great truck! I love when a ride can squeal the tires while it's moving. A friend of mine has a 1976 Ford Maverick, with a 429 motor from a Falcon. When I floor it while I'm doing 60, it wants to go sideways. Love the content man, keep up the GREAT work!
Very nicely done, I love the way he made the dash mostly, looks stock but havein drivein 1 for years , I can tell he worked hard to keep it stock, there's not of room being that dash , for well nothing, they made it so u have max room, but there les that a foot to the fire wall ... nicely done... needs to beef up started lolz , many times I have sat just like that haha. Sweet. :)
Happened to me long ago on my 68 Camaro, starter my be fine but you might need a remote solenoid for the starter and maybe some type of heat shield at/on the starter, a shield blanket helps to protect form the engine and header heat.
typical hot starter or wire issues seen it in so many s10 or even gmc typhoons or syclones. love this truck as always is there a new video to this truck?
@@AutotopiaLA it would look awesome plus it add a little something more than just a great looking two tone...And that's the words of a person his friends call him (2Tone Jim).lol
Exactly what i was thinking..... hot soaked starter, the dreadful single "click" sound when trying to start a vehicle, its happened to me once on a bone stock 350cid/155hp daily driver 1974 chevelle i once had.
A long time ago we used to put a heat shield take one from a Pontiac and stick it on there Catalina used to have them the lesabres Grand Prix had a 9/16 bolt bolted right to the starter
Solenoid is going bad. Those GM starters don't like headers. Same issue with my car. New starter, no problem... for now. As I was writing this, you explained.
@@AutotopiaLA I was thinking heat soak, then you explained that it was, indeed that. A simple heat shield would be the least expensive route, but attaching it securely could present some challenges of its' own. Using a wrap would be the next step up in cost and effectiveness, but would be considerably less expensive than a permanent thermal barrier coating like a ceramic. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but if it helps, cool.
Awww shit... Dad's coming!! I better stop fucking torturing Shawn and start!! Hahahaha!! Great truck and of course, Nino hits it out of the park again!! (any thoroughbred is supposed to have attitude, I think its part of their union contract!!)
This era s10 always makes me think of Syclones and Typhoons, man what a cool time for the little trucks.
Tony Ferraro totally agree. And the way this one is set up works really well. Especially if you like spinning tires with 0 effort
I love these first gen S10's and first gen Ranger's. When small trucks had real style.
Brings back memories from the 80s and 90s. Cool little pickup!
J.F Cote back to the heyday of mini trucks

It’s such a fun truck to drive. And I know Nino well enough to know that starter/heat issue will be corrected. He does everything right
When it wouldn't start there, my first thought was "heat soaked starter". He's gotta put a shield on that thing! Oh, the fun of cramming a larger motor in a small engine bay.
Exactly right. He’s since done even more work to it including a heat shield for the starter
Great truck! Makes me miss my dope 96 Dakota 2wd 5 speed v8.... Can't believe how easy that thing just spins those meats tho! I love sleepers!
Danny Smith effortless burnouts. Push the skinny pedal and 🔥🔥🔥
I really like what he did with the interior. Ditching the carbon was a huge improvement.
That truck is the perfect truck in my opinion. Bad ass!!
Andrew Miller agreed. Perfect little rip around truck
Love the little S10. Would have too much fun driving that
It’s a blast to drive! Smokes the tires with no effort
This truck deserves the revisit.
Keep up the quality work guys, I wouldn't be surprised if you hit 100K subs this year.
Dylan Baxter thanks! We’re working on it. And I’m glad we did this revisit with all the additional work Nino did on it
Love it. Looked great when I was over and now he’s just refined it
Ross Lynn it looks and runs much better than the previous shoot

Damn!!! That ls7 really does sound like a Koenigsegg at high revs!!!!
Rina Mukherjee never thought of that. Sounds great from the cockpit
@@AutotopiaLA why didn't they swap out for a flat plane crank as the jewel on the crown. Trust me, it's pretty easy these days!

Wrecker '56 sure is fun. Especially when it’s predictable and controllable like this little S10. Glad you like what we’re doing here 👊
Yes remember the previous video, cool truck, nice to see it finished, lots of fun to drive I’m picking 👍
Allan Taylor it’s so much fun to drive. Handles well and the slightest push on the accelerator makes for big smiles 😀
That looks like fun!
catusg blast to drive!!
Job well done
Yves Joseph I love the set up of this truck!
Badass Dime.......nice build...I have 92 &94 with V-8
Very cool 👊
Just an awesome V8 S10... even better..it was a free truck
When I'm done building mine I'd love to get as close to this S-10 as I can afford lol.
Happy Helperton good one to shoot for. I love this little S10
I want to convert my 99 over to V8 power someday. Love your paint job! It reminds me of the Airwolf helicopter's color scheme
Do it! This thing makes so much power and looks great too!
Happened to me long ago on my 68 Camaro, starter my be fine but you might need a remote solenoid for the starter and maybe some type of heat shield at/on the starter, a shield blanket helps to protect form the engine and header heat.
Ricardo Curet Jr knowing Nino I’d imagine something along these lines is next on the list
Nice looking truck. Have one myself 650hp very doubtful, 450hp forsure , my 2cents
typical hot starter or wire issues seen it in so many s10 or even gmc typhoons or syclones. love this truck as always is there a new video to this truck?
Looks perfect to me.
Rodcognito 00 looks and drives just right imo
Needs some ccws
Total 90s throwback 👍 if you didn't grow up with a dad that had a v-8 in quarter ton you don't know true Chevy lust
Don't stop please. Okay guys now I miss my S-10 😪
Sorry man...he’s done even more to this thing recently
Real world hot rodding
the hood , the hood is perfectly innocent ........fucking badass ride
Monster little truck here!
Needs the FATT Rain Guards On The Doors Painted The Same White That's On The Bottom Half Of The Truck!!!!
Cool idea
@@AutotopiaLA it would look awesome plus it add a little something more than just a great looking two tone...And that's the words of a person his friends call him (2Tone Jim).lol
Heat soaking the starter motor or solenoid is what it sounds like.
LS10 nice one !
CHUUMPASS 👊 sure is
This channel rules 😂
What mirrors do you have on the doors im working on a 91 s10 and are loving theses mirrors are they from a blazer/gen2 s10 ???
Ninotopiala 🙌
He’s back!
Exactly what i was thinking..... hot soaked starter, the dreadful single "click" sound when trying to start a vehicle, its happened to me once on a bone stock 350cid/155hp daily driver 1974 chevelle i once had.
Yeah, not fun when on the side of the road shooting someone else’s ride...all went well though
I was going to say the same thing some of those starters do not like heat at all.
Matthew Mazzella this one definitely doesn’t like the heat. But when it’s running it’s just a blast to drive!
A long time ago we used to put a heat shield take one from a Pontiac and stick it on there Catalina used to have them the lesabres Grand Prix had a 9/16 bolt bolted right to the starter
Door panels 👌 nicely done nino
I have an Oldsmobile Bravada and this is really inspiring thx man
Solenoid is going bad. Those GM starters don't like headers. Same issue with my car. New starter, no problem... for now.
As I was writing this, you explained.
Roman Macias dei wrap or heat shield does wonders for my car you guys should check it out
Roman Macias knowing Nino he’ll get it sorted out. Maybe heat wrap?
@@AutotopiaLA I tried Swain Tech white lightning coating on my headers and intermediate pipe this time. Expensive as Fock. We'll see...

Too much fun!! Truck is looking great Nino👊

😂😂 fucking hilarious comment brotha!!
That thing has the perfect stance, about how much is it lowered 3” 4”?
Check with the owner. His info is in the description
Trick this, trick that. Trick trick.
Pretty badass little truck here
WHAT REAR END IS IN IT?
Is it a stock S10 rear end with better axles and a Detroit TRUE TRAC??
Is there any chance you have a link to the build sheet?
Happy Helperton unfortunately no but check with Vintage Motorworks in Van Nuys, CA. They did a lot of the mechanical work here
What are tire and rim sizes?
What is rim brand?
Thanks
Makes a change from the EL CAMINO .....
The seat belts in my 86 s10 do the same dam thing! I am always pulling it tight over my shoulder lol
I have a 92 with 60,000 original miles thinking of a motor to put in it, only 18 good first project truck
Nice 👍
