Thank You Kurt for Up In Smoke filming locations especially where Cheech’s house is And Fun Fact: That woman who was with Chong her name is June Fairchild and it was her last film because she begin doing drugs and she ended up being homeless in skid row and I had the honor meeting her in 2013 RIP June Fairchild 🙏🏻
Doesn't his father call him Anthony? I seem to remember him calling him Anthony, but it's been a while since I've watched it so I don't really remember.
@@avega2792 cool, now we know for sure 😎😁👌🏼💯 cause even thought I haven't seen the movie inna while, I remember going the end to see the credits, cause I noticed no one calls him by a name, except "Raaaalph", to see what his name is, and Man Stoner is what it said 😅
His movie name... 'Anthony, dont walk away from me when I'm talking to you'. His dad called him that, in that classic scene with Strother. Greatest SOB in movie history.
Great movie my step dad use to let me watch these movies with him in the garage when I was little he always said don't tell ur mom!! We both loved the Van he always wanted to build one
Was hoping you would feature this classic. There are so many great shots of late 70’s LA in this movie, a perfect candidate for you. Darby Crash can be seen some of the crowd shots at The Roxy, a bunch of the original LA punks got paid as extras the day they shot that scene. My fav Cheech And Chong film, Up In Smoke is a stoned cold classic.
Incredible as usual and I know you had to deal with traffic especially on Highland, Sunset Blvd etc thank you Kurt for always bringing such amazing content
Our Producer is the tour manager for The Vacation the band that was playing the Roxy when you filmed ha. He is also the guitarist in the Punk Band Ten Foot Pole
7:40 One of Tom Skerritt's best roles! Between him and Stacy Keach it's kinda unreal to see the roles actors didn't mind taking back in the day. Great flick! It amazes me that you can hunt these locations down. Great effing job, man! Tell your wife and anyone else that helps you that they rock, too! 👍
The Old Jail in the film was also a boxing gym on the fifth floor that opened in 1976 until about the mid 2,000's.My two eldest brothers started boxing there when it opened. They were 9 and 10 years old and my other brother and I started boxing there in 1989.I was 9 he was 16.The gym was called The Los Angeles Youth Athletic Club.(L.A.Y.A.C).
Wonderful job. After 45 Years of this being my favorite movie I never guessed that 1811 Was not in TJ. Is that a seven or a one? Aaah it’s a seven. Thanks again Curt.
"Momma took a to me cause she told me how live, but i don't listen to her cause my head is like a sive." "And it don't bother me if people think i'm funny, because I'm a big rock star and i'm making lotsa money." 🤣 This was an awesome location video. The locations were classic. And great job Kurt detailing all the spots, i like the little segment you did on the PCH. I remember the first time seeing this movie in 1980, it was on cable HBO i think and it came on at midnight. I was 13 at the time and i fell asleep on the couch and my mom let me sleep there and by coincidence i woke up just as the movie was starting and the TV happened to be on. So i watched the whole thing. I knew it was a classic right away. Remember the line..."You get a g*dd@mn job before sundown , or we're shipping you off to military school with the g*dd@mn Finklesteinsh*t kid, Son of a B*tch!" 🤣...rememeber when C&Chong were messing with Stedenko and Stedenko says "codename Hardhat" and Chong goes "What's that Lardass?" And Stedenko goes Hardhat Hardhat and Chong goes Lardass Lardass! 🤣....I laughed so hard to this movie. Great memories watching it as a kid. I loved this movie so much at the time i went out and bought the soundtrack! Classic Kurt , and great job on it! 😎
Thanks for video man! I am 22 y.o. now, and when i was maybe 7 or something like that, my brother show me this film. Few days ago i rewatch this movie with my girl and he still fire!
Holy shit! I went to a couple of massive parties at that 1288 Oakland Ave house back in the late 80's! The final party was epically huge, with easily a couple of thousand people, that the cops showed up in force, there were helicopters flying overhead, it was madness. Then it burned down (went up in smoke?) not long afterwards. Been trying to figure out where that was for years, and voila! So cool
@@80sLife I don't think the guy who organized the parties was their son, but he was maybe a nephew? He had an in with the caretaker who lived in the apartment over the garage. Nobody lived in the main house then. It was basically empty IIRC but it was huge and ornate. Like an old movie mansion. The party thrower guy is now a divorce lawyer in Vegas according to my friend who knew him. Another weird tidbit: I had some "country cousins" visiting LA once so I took them on a tour and that house was one of the places we drove past and I told them the whole rager party story. Then either that same night, or maybe within a day or two, I saw on the news that the house had burned down!
I really enjoy your videos. The scenes filmed in Hollywood bring back memories walking around the boulevard as a kid in the late 70's with my dad who called it "Hollyweird" ...lol
Love your filming locations and I watched this on vhs growing up but, this may be the clearest version I've seen because I'm just now making out the awesome license plates lol!🤣🤘
That was in their Next Movie. I also liked Chongs song which was just like it only different. " Something the censors won't let me write" gonna kick you in the face
That RR grill on the Bug always cracks me up. I've just started watching this vid and i'm gonna call it... Your favorite Ch&Ch movie is The Corsican Brothers.
Well done! You've outdone yourself with this one. C and C was and is a classic. Every kid my age then watched this gem. Great location shots! Thanks again. 😃
Foliage and development are the scourge of 80s Life Filming locations. Can't move that tree in the bike scene though. The things that tree must've seen.
The old Victorian house @7:16 in the background is located in Heritage Square which is on the other side of the Pasadena Fwy. I was very familiar with this area since I had relatives that lived on Ave.37 in those days.
Cool video. The pizza they cops were all eating on the sidewalk in front of The Roxy was purchased at The Rainbow bar & grill. They have really good pizza.
Cool! I used to live in Lincoln Heights until i recently moved to Atwater. Didn't realize they filmed numerous scenes in that area. The scene with Strawberry was just a couple of blocks from my place. I also lived in Yuma a long time ago which is right near Winterhaven.
I have to say the air is much cleaner ,when I moved to LA as a kid in 1988 ,that was my first memory looking out the window of the plane and seeing the pollution around downtown or Wilshire.
Dude you did an awesome job on this. I've lived here all my life and you found some of the spots I had always been looking for. When I lived in Venice in the 90's I was 2 blocks from Cheech's house. Who knew?
Another great video well done the one 80s movie that I feel deserves to have a filming locations video is a nightmare on elm Street 2 such an underrated movie I feel you could do a great job as you always film everything brilliant 👍
8:52 that corner building is the same exact building just painted beige. Also if you look closer. I think most buildings are still there. Its TJ dude. Even 6 months later in 1979 it looked way different already. Think those buildings downtown that are painted for advertising every other month.

Great movie. Brings back so many memories. Dang! Wish, I could go back.
Please keep doing filming locations. They're my favorites.

Aww thank you so much for that. I really appreciate it
Great job! Would love to see The Next Movie filming locations too.

Awesome. Thank you so much
Aww sweeeet! I love this film. I’ve actually looked up some of the locations on Google Earth. Someday I want to visit a few of them.
Tommy Chong, is named "Man Stoner" in the credits 🤣
Doesn't his father call him Anthony? I seem to remember him calling him Anthony, but it's been a while since I've watched it so I don't really remember.
@@avega2792 probably, but not too sure, cause same here, it's been a while since I've seen the movie, probably 2 or 3 years

Back in High School in my Auto Shop class...We watched this movie while eating pizza!....haha....
