    I never in my life thought I would see somebody else who love this movie as much as I did and do! I think I probably bought five of a soundtracks and at least five or six of the movie on DVD just in case something happened to one of the other ones. Absolutely loved loved loved it this movie, and Nicolas Cage was so hot. It was need to see all the different destinations that they found and I wanna thank you for taking your time for sharing that with us.

      @thislazylife 3 года назад +3

      @@tb9489 It's pretty rare, but I own a vinyl copy of the original soundtrack on the Roadshow label. It only has 8 songs, and (for whatever reason), I Melt With You didn't make the cut. I agree, it's a travesty. However, the soundtrack was reissued in '84 and it contained a lot more songs, including Modern English.

    • @thislazylife
      @thislazylife 3 года назад +1

      @@tb9489 Actually, I just remembered that the OG on Roadshow was actually a small pressing (300 i think?) and was recalled almost immediately after it was released, so very few made it into circulation. I could never find info on why it was recalled, but my guess is the artwork. The artwork on the OG cover features a woman who looks nothing like Deborah Foreman.

Also, Nicolas Cage climbed our fence in the movie and the Doberman scene was filmed next door. They filmed a week and a half in our neighborhood that was about 5 minutes in the movie. Thanks for putting this together! LA and The Valley are so different now from back then. I was born in The Valley, and remember it like this. I also remember when punk rock swept through Los Angeles and the rest of Southern California. This is a classic movie like a little slice of LA history. It's such a different place now.. two more things about this film and Nicolas Cage. First what a great soundtrack it has, and my father was a young professor and had Nicholas Cage in his class a long time ago and apparently he ended up slapping Nicolas Cage in some verbal confrontation they had in his class. That's a true story. Thanks again for the video.

    Happened to have walked my dog several times by apparently what was Julie's house. So random. We stopped several times and looked at it to see what was going on with the house. Had no idea obviously this was the house in Valley Girl. Such a great movie.

      Haha. The director said she made him shave his chest because he was too hairy, and that's how he shaved it. I know he's obsessed with superman and I've always wondered if that's why he shaved it like that

    Definitely my favorite film from this time period. I went to the Sherman Oaks Galleria in the mid 1990’s. This movie was the BEST (all that iconic music, the clothes, etc. ) The opening song is my favorite! Oh how I wish I could turn back time. I know a lot of the lines by heart. I love this movie! Filmed in the L.A. I grew up in. I was born in the Valley, and although I grew up in the West Side I did spend a number of years living in the Valley. My first two years, and then on and off from my late teens to my late twenties in college and I worked in the Valley. The contrast between the west side and the valley is tremendous. The mentality, the way streets are laid out. The Valley feels a lot less crowded. The Valley is also a lot more affordable than the West Side. Yeah, the weather's not as nice in the summer, but beyond that it's alright the rest of the year.

    On the Topic of "Valley Girl", You need to know that Frank Zappa's RUclips channel released a music video for his song "Valley Girl". There never was a music video for that song before.
    The music video is Hella 80's. Lots of Patrick Nagel art etc. You'd probably dig it.
