Bubbles are a rite of passage for anyone using resin! Looks great anyways. I think it’s been covered in other comments but what worked for me to clear up this issue: 1. Warm up the bottles of resin in warm water before mixing 2. Breathe on any remaining bubbles and either the warmth or CO2 (or both?) from your breath will make them pop. Also I would like to add as a PSA that one should be careful pouring too much resin at a time because the reaction is exothermic and one piece I had started smoking after a larger pour. It was too hot to touch for a while and nearly burned my place down. Great video as always, thanks Emil
"I think the painting of this would be boring" Man, I find watching pros paint to be relaxing, even if I know their style and have watched their painting before. I imagine I'm not alone in that.
I save my eggs shells, bake them in the oven and grind into different grades in a mortar and pestle. Good for sea shell debris. Also great for worm farm teeth 8). Like this build.
Wow! Just two things: the sand needs to look wet near the water (using a darker redder tone might work,) and the reflection of the torch in the NMM cannon.
To get rid of the bubbles put your mixing cup with bubbly resin in a bowl with hot water it will reduce the viscosity and allow bubbles to escape then finally use lighter fire to burn them out of the surface. I use this technique and get 100% clear water every time.
If you do want less bubbles let the resin sit in water for about an hour, hot water. I also submerge my resin cup in water as I'm mixing it, I like the bubbles here but if you want to get rid of them that does it. Keep it as warm as you can while mixing, also mixing in small quantities creates more bubbles or mixing too fast. But hot water and keeping it warm while mixing did the trick to let the bubbles rise to the top. The best buy on resins I've found for a quality resin is DR Crafty, $90 you can get 2 gallons. $70 a gallon, $40 for 64oz. Grest stuff way better than Artnglow. Cheers man!
To deal with the bubbles you can either cure it under pressure in a pressure pot or degas the epoxy in a vacuum pot. When pouring you pick a corner and pour in one spot slowly to avoid en-training any air as you pour.
Tip: What might also help to get rid of almost if not all bubbles is to pour it from a great hight. That way the resin gets really thin, and all the bubbles will tare open. And always pour from 1 corner, and let the resin find its way. + i find that resins with low viscocitiy tends to give far few bubbles and pours much easier. Beside that, it looks awesome!
👑👑 I'm in the midst of releasing my dream miniature brush as well as some wonderfully sculpted miniature busts. It's something I'm really proud of and been working on for the better part of the last year. Late pledges are up and You can check it out here: www.squidmar.com/latepledge 👑👑
So i just finally watched this. For the bubbles you might want to try doing multiple thin layers of resin. It helps a lot. Check out papercuts youtube channel he has a lot of good tips for dioramas. Ex. For figuring out what color you want your resin to be, use an equal amount of water and measure your paint out in that to get your desired color.
This is most important. To have fun while doing hobby. And you show it in your videos, that you have a lot of fun, this is why its pleasure to watch them. I really like the diorama - it has a feeling of that damn hot beach on some Carribean island :)
To get rid of bubbles, either heat the resin slightly after it's been poured or pop it in a vacuum/pressure chamber! In this project though it looks more right for there to be bubbles
Watching people paint mini's is my ASMR. I enjoy watching it from start to finish as I'm going to bed. It gets especially better when you have a silky smooth voice like Goobertown Hobbies.
Another thing to help with bubbles in the future is to pour the resin from a bit higher up in a slow, thin stream; this will give any bubbles a chance to either pop during the pour or rise to the surface so they're more easily popped.

That mask is shit, it does nothing. Kids are gunna see you use that and think that's good enough. Go to Claes Ohlson and buy the 3M one it's the blue/purple; "Skyddsmask med kolfilter 3M 4255".
Pouring the resin from higher up will help with the bubbles. It creates a longer, thinner stream thus more surface area for bubbles to pop on the way into the mold, diorama, etc. Also, pouring in one place and letting the resin flow around the model might help too.
You can't really stir the resin less. If it isn't mixed very well it won't cure. If you want to avoid bubbles, you can use a pressure pot and/or vacuum chamber to knock them out after the mixing/pouring.
To help with the bubbles you could try using an ultrasonic machine. we use them in labs a lot to degas various solvents/solutions. they sale small scale ones for cleaning jewelry as well, it would make a good addition to an artist equipment. you just fill up the bath with water then dip your cup bottom into the water about 1/4 inch and let it vibrate all the gas to the top of the epoxy resins / paints or whatever you need to remove bubbles from. the instrument does a rapid gentle vibration and that makes the water very excited and it transfers the energy to whatever you need to degas, to put it simply.
I used that exact same resin and it went yellow after a few weeks. It could have been something on my end because it was my first time but I made a small cube and gave it to my professor for a homework assignment and simply stored in a plastic sandwich bag and when I collected it a few weeks later it came back with some light yellowing. I didn't add any dyes to the resin so that might help in the long run but just keep that in mind and do some test pours if you get it!
When pouring resin pour from a height, the resin will expel a lot of the bubbles. Also tap the side of the model after pouring and the bubbles will rise to the top 👍🏼
Awesome work and thanks for another great video. I bought me your lamp with your link and it is a difference to my old one. It's so nice and it makes me feel better and brings my motivation back to paint with joy
Very nice work! I think that use resin in dioramas open many possibilities! I use epoxy resin for other works... If you want to get rid of bubbles (at least largest part of it) you can heat the coloured mixed resin for one-two minutes under a light bulb, befor pouring it. :) Great job! Keep on going!
For a better deal effect a light dry brush of white on the water movement will make better volumes and even more like sea shore foam. For the bubble it's not only because you shake too much. It's because you "throw" it from far above, you should use a stick to make the resin go down to the diorama without falling onto it. For the color of the water, I've noticed that letting a full clear resin with an underwater painted like an underwater is way more realistic, I mean I do the same as you, but I'm glazing quite heavily the underwater with dark sea blue, green tones, turquoise, blue green etc... So you can perfectly see thru the resin but it looks like underwater. You can go see some of my Diorama I've made recently on my Instagram gregmorelminis if you have some time! Cheer mate, I love what you're doing!
You should try putting the resin into a vacume chamber to evacuate it you can make a basic one using a piece of plastic and a powerful vacume cleaner over your pot, will reduce the bubling and make the resin more clear. If you can get it realy clear it would be great to see a layered resin fully incased diorama with stuff flying around and exploding in 3d.
Awesome stuff !!! Someone probably said it already, but I can't find it. So just in case, I've seen people pour the resin on some kind of popsicle or stick. So it goes down slowly and it helps reduce the bubbling.
The trick to flat base sides? SANDING! It looks some much better if you have clean cut edges and plain sides. And after the resin cured: Sand it AGAIN. Yes, sending sucks and is boring, but its worth the time.
Please do some how to paint tutorials using 3D printed minis. When I see tale ted painters in RUclips I feel bad for not having the same model to follow along. But, with printed models it’s easier to find them. I have all the catalog from Cast n play, for example.

Nice diorama! to get rid of the bubbles, either vacuum it or place it on a vibrating surface for a while to get the air rising to the top. maybe the motor of a small, electric handfan with some extra weight could do the trick or of u can get it, the motor that makes phones vibrate should be even better. keep up with the channel, big up from germany!

Don't know if anyone has suggested cutting away the top lip/edge of resin where it rises up against the mold? It doesn't look bad in this one, with all the water texture, but I think it's a nice finishing touch to have a clean edge.
Doesn't matter what you paint I'd watch that crap, and i never get tired of seeing skeletons being painted. I'd love to see you make an overgrown oasis kind of diorama/base, mixing in some ruined temple kind of vibes with plenty of plant growth and water as it's being reclaimed from the desert.
When stirring move it around the edges of the cup rather than any quick motion that folds air into it. If its a good resin it should also be low enough viscosity to self degass. So dont be in so much of a rush to pour it let it stand for a bit!
no idea how you decided that adding the pearls would be a good idea, but damn it really was. Also - i think having the small bubbles makes way more sense since you have all the foam generated by the skeleton warrior.

A fan blowing down over the surface can also help to break the surface tension and allow the bubbles to pop and clear
Also depending on the mixture type and composition it may only like being poured 1/8" or 3 to 4mm at a time
When I think of fun uses for clear resin, other than wading through water what comes to mind is people trapped in ice/crystal, and also cloning vats.
