    In the engineering department lounge at Ford, they have a TV hooked up to RUclips. Apparently they like to watch videos of people trying to get the oil filter out. People there literally roll on the floor, laughing. So I have heard.

    This video should have been even longer I would have pop some popcorn and probably fallen asleep halfway through and had to finish it later. But it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Thanks for the video even though it was 40 minutes too long

    I own a 2015 1.6L ECO-BOOST Escape. I find that removing the front belly-pan is the LEAST of my problems, the oil filter location is the freakin' WORST nightmare imaginable! What I did on my first filter change was, I CAREFULLY moved that metal pipe an inch to the side , then I ty-wrapped those rubber coolant lines up and out of the way for MUCH easier access to that filter. I plan to search for a 90* adapter for the oil filter, but don't expect to find any. I also own a 2013 Focus SE (N/A) which is almost FUN to do an oil change on, because the filter hangs STRAIGHT DOWN. Also, when I do ANY oil change, I run a quart of new oil thru the engine just when the old oil is down to a slow drip, sort of a light flush to get as much OLD oil out of the engine. This just MY THING! As far as the kind of oil to use in THESE GDI engines, FORGET about that Ford SEMI-synthetic and use Pennzoil ULTRA PLATINUM (full synthetic) instead. Reason? The pennzoil has the LOWEST VOLATILITY of any oil (including AmZoil). Why is this important? The oil evaporation thru the PCV causes build up on the intake valves, the lower the volatility, the less carbon build up on the intakes. Your engines will thank you. For the full test results of motor oils, check out "Project Farm" channel on RUclips. BTW, the front sub-frame on your MOM's Escape could use some "fluid film" application to slow down the rust that is starting to look quite nasty. Happy motoring!

    I just did my oil change on the 2014 escape 1.6 :( The white collar engineers @ Ford had their head up their asses for "filter removal" when they designed this one.

      These 'small' engines are European designed, and as anyone knows European engines are quirky!

      @@nateschultz8973 This is EXACTLY why I can't wait for EVs to become affordable. The "range anxiety" is not a big deal for ME, the "ICE" is slowly fading into history!

    Seeing the difficulty with removing the oil filter, makes me wonder of my local "quickie shop" even changes the filter. If they didn't, I'd be none the wiser :(

    I thought about just changing the oil myself, but seeing I have to take off the cover and the location of the filter, I'd rather just take it to a shop.
    Thanks for sharing

      Sounds like a BARGAIN to me! Try $600 for ONE plastic headlight housing (w/o socket or bulb) for 2012 MKZ!

      Then skip ahead to the filter part. It’s that simple.

    This has to be the worst how to video that I've ever seen.
    This should be 5 minutes long and focused on the oil change.

    • @MichaelAdamsRocks
      @MichaelAdamsRocks  3 года назад +1

      It’s not a “how to” video. It’s my documentation of the ownership of this vehicle.

      The oil change DID take only 5 minutes, the filter R&R was the bitch!
