    You could also put the new plugs in with a neoprene hose and hand tighten it that way. The hose actually goes over the top of the spark plug and holds the plug. Then you can tighten it with the rachet. Great video and thank you.

    Things to watch out for, from my experience changing plugs on this Ecoboost engine. (Mainly in the Escape models, but is applied to the others) #1 He isn’t kidding when he says to check and remove debris from around the coils. That isn’t an easy job if something falls in there, as it’s a long way down to the bottom, with plenty of bolts, and plastic stuff to be removed. #2 Those stupid connectors are junk, and become brittle on top of getting stuck in the COP over time. Make sure the white retaining/locking tab is pulled out adequately from the connector when unlocking it, but don’t pull it to far out as to brake it off/out of the connector as it happens when they get old and brittle. Then make sure enough pressure is applied to the connectors removal tab when pulling it off the coil, as they can get stuck because the locking lug on the coils connector body protrudes too high on some. Not allowing the retaining end of the harness connector to fully clear it even when fully depressed. So you might need to wiggle it around or use a tool to gently lift the connector over the lug. These connectors aren’t cheap, even though they look like they should be, but can be found on eBay for $17 each.#3 when replacing the coils make sure you only lightly hand tighten the bolts that hold it down. The inserts that they thread into are a bad design, and easily strip out from their recesses if over tightened. Antiseize should be applied also, as over time corrosion will lock the bolt to the insert, resulting in bolts that just spin without coming out next time you get to do this job.

    I took my fusion to Baxter Ford a month after I bought the car and I saw on the car fax no plugs have been changed so I took it there got them replaced then one month later the ceramic around the plug shot down into the cylinder and killed my motor. AND THEY FUCKED BLAMED IT ON ME??? Help me out here, there is physical proof that the plugs that they PUT IN ONE MONTH before failed and are making me pay for a new motor? Should I or should I protect myself and make them pay for the damages they caused??

    Hi Brian I just bought a 2017 f150 5.0l 4x4 xtr. I had a lot of problems with my 2011 5.0l namely the engine needed a short block after only 50000 km. it was under warranty but i was wondering if they resolved that issue with the 5.0l knock. i haven't heard anything about them after 2013. Any thoughts? You would think i wouldn't buy a ford after that however I really like them lol.

    I tried to change out the plugs on my 2014 Escape 1.6L SE and found that the 5/8" spark plug socket DID NOT work. Tried other 5/8" spark plug sockets and none worked. However, another RUclips video suggested a 16mm deep well socket which DID work. Sad thing is that I only discovered the 16 mm socket worked AFTER removing the cowl to get better access to the plugs.

    I have the 2.0L sp537 5/8 inch socket get the 10 inch extension because once this is fixed you more than likely will find more use for it on a fusion because its a F.O.R.D. (Found on road dead).....and sp530 is 2.5L 5/8 inch socket. The tool kit I have was too short so I had to get the 5/8 inch Duralast socket with my 75-509 Torin jack, inc manufacture id 28035190 torque wrench. It fits for the 5/8 and the extension so if you already have one don't spend 30 dollars on a new wrench. Mine went out at 53,000+ miles on the 2.0L engine when I was filling the oil over time I guess it got down in the area because the 2.0L oil filler is very close to the sockets and if you spill any clean it quickly so as to not have an issue later.

    • @ElegantDetailz
      @ElegantDetailz 7 лет назад +1

      found the problem today. it turned out to be the body control module. during the crash the wires were cut to the crash sensor and the sudden surge of power to the bcm shorted out the internal micro relay to that circuit . I'm my opinion it seems unlikely the cause, because the restraint control module receives the crash sensor input and the rtm tells the bcm to tell the pcm to cut off fuel to the car all connected through a CAN network.

    Good Video, Not sure why 29 didnt like? Anyways wife drives a '16 Escape AWD we got her as a commuter-car b/c of all the miles she racks up. After 4 years she has 120k on it! crazy. Its been a good car overall, have done brakes & tires. A few freebies from Ford under warranty like a new tranny at only 80k which was disappointing to say the least. Door seams rusting out from the inside they are fighting me on warranty claim. Bottom line its a disposable car! I'm gonna throw some plugs in mine now b/c she is saying 'it boggs' though I dont notice a thing and no MIL light coming on. If I felt it was a car I wanted to keep I'd do a complete sensor tune up myself, not going to toss extra bucks in b/c I already know I'm gonna get tossed under the bus on my trade in value.
    The next major milestone for mine will be as a Coke can! :)

    Good video but you should make viewers aware that standard 5/8" plug socket does not fit into the plug recess, as socket is too big in diameter to fit into the plug well. I am picking up the Gearwrench model you use and hopefully it will fit as easy as you show.I took off the plastic wiper/cabin air intake cowl, its not too difficult to remove and makes the plug install access much easier.

      Did the gear wrench extension work in getting the spark plug out? Or did you have to do something else?

      Edwin Hernandez Go to your favorite stores and just pick up the socket with the extension already attached , it will be a swivel set up.
