- Pine64's PineTime is an interesting smartwatch with equally interesting software surrounded it. Let's see what comes pre-installed, how to update the firmware, and what features it offers!
In this video, I installed InfiniTime 1.0.0 "Red Cherry".
InfiniTime's latest release (as of the release date of this video) is 1.1 "Dragon Fruit"

Don't forget to update the bootloader and recovery firmware as well!
I just got mine today! I might suggest to check if you have a plastic film on the heart rate sensor, mine was also inaccurate but after poking at the sensor with my nail it came off and now it works flawlessly
Nice review!
The 2048 app just straight up lets you hold up, down, left or right and it will keep going until you remove your finger. Hopefully it gets fixed, because it's a really neat little game!
I subscribed at "I wrote a 3D renderer on a TI83 while I was in school"
Like ok bro we get it you're cool.
Oh, I didn't expected to have heart rate monitor, cool! Just realized about this watch and it's really interesting. Nice video, man!
Yeah, this watch is decked out with all kinds of cool gadgets, all it needs is some optimized feature rich software, that's where us nerds come in. ;)
I love the source engine sfx!
This channel is growing good job. 🤟
Looking forward to the update that fixes
the secret developer message.
Nice presentation. Thanks!
Definitely buying one
thanks, didn't know about pinetime before this video
p.s. missing your poetry-like intros :(
I'm glad I gave exposure to this neat little device!
I'll make sure to bring back my poetic intros! ;)
Great video!
You should do a video on the PineTime Lite fork
Thanks for bringing this fork to my attention, I'll be sure to check it out! :D
very cool!
Interesting demo of the PineTime. I've heard about it, but never got the chance to see it in action.
Thanks!
What do you think about the watch? Think you'll get one?
was hoping to hear about battery life, and what types of messages or notifications I could get. Another video mentioned email alerts and alerts for messages from whatsapp. So, does that mean alerts from Signal, Session, Telegram, and others? Can I read some or all of those messages?
Can I sync the watch with a Nextcloud server so that NC's calendar notification come through the way I get them on an Android that has the required apps?
The price of $25 is great. I am worried about the Bluetooth security issue, though.
Latest software update seems smooth
Nice! Question, can you increase the STEPS count size? My biggest problem with all these is they focus on the clock/time digit size which is not a primary reason for buying in the first place. Hard to read small numbers in sunlight. thanks
It's technically possible, considering the open source nature of the device and OS used in this video. But there's little built in options in the OS itself, someone would need to add it or change the value directly. Something that may have been done in some of the other OSes available for the device. (like Wasp OS)
If it's not done, I agree that it should. :)
I'm in android right now, how did you get the Siglo app because I can't find it online or on the play store
Can this grab data from an API? Or would the phone app grab the data and relay it to the phone?
ill buy it after my pc
Bummer about the HR sensor, I would pay more if it had a better one plus a memory LCD screen
I believe the scanner itself is fine, just currently (as of this video) the software wasn’t working probably
Some of the folks here are saying that the sensor might have a plastic film on it, and that peeling it off can make it work better.
How long does his battery last
Almost a week
(The only cool thing about this thing to my opinion was the devkit you mention... it's too bare bones but if you could code your own app it would be, at least something.)
Infinitime, being FOSS, can be completly modified! You, you can add your own apps or... really anything! If you know what your doing.
You don't NEED a devkit to actually do that, but you risk making a mistake and having your device be borked.
So it is RECOMMENDED to use a devkit.
Ambos teléfono y reloj funcionan muy mal.
