🇨🇦There’s just something about that moment when your offspring, no matter what their age, says, “I’m getting hungry”, that makes parents want to get to the kitchen as soon as they can, or jump in the car to head to a restaurant. From my perspective as the parent of a 34 year old daughter, it’s still a great pleasure to enjoy a meal and share our lives while we eat. I expect that living in France gives you all exceptional opportunities to eat some of the best food in the world.
Sean you have a beautiful wife and daughter. Enjoy seeing the rural family life you have made for yourselves. Someday I may get to see your country but for now your channel is one of my escapes from Iowa, USA.
Don’t forget the Kiwis they fought beside us Aussies & the British. My grandfather fought on the Somme in WW1 from 1914-1918 he live to ripe old age of 97.
My father in-law served with the Army in France during World War III. He love the French people. My husband born in France at that time since his wife moved with him at a little military town called Bussac, I believe that may be the correct spelling. I like to see that little town through your tours in France. Thank you Sean and family.
Hi from me, a Scottish lady 56 yrs old, moved to South of Spain, Benalmádena, when I was 17; 39 yrs ago, so yeah, I know what you mean about the immigration matter. I agree, people are people, how they were born, some will accept you without a second thought, others in time, and others just don't. I love your projects and videos, it's given a whole new light to France, imo.
I agree with you Sam, the French think we English are mad in buying old barns/properties in rural France to convert into a house, still not finished after 15 years, then Rome was not built in a day😂, continue your journey renovating your lovely property, you are such a lovely family❤
How do you find time to help Billy with the convent & doing your own renovations & what made you decide to move to France to live? Do enjoy watching you visiting the markets & antique shops you visit. Love your cottage gardens too
Hi Sean, Sam and Jasmine, love the Q&A, I often wondered why France as well, because the UK has beautiful countryside as well, and you answered that. This was fun, thanks for taking the time for us to get a little nosey, Love from N.Y.
Just want to say you are such a LOVELY FAMILY, it is a PLEASURE to watch your videos. Thankyou for taking the time for sharing your life with us. God bless you!!!
Enjoyed the Q and A. You and your family are so talented. It just draws a person to see how you all are and what you are doing. I was married to a carpenter and my son was a carpenter and interior decorator and painter mechanic and a great father. I van relate to the highs and lows and adventures!!! You have an awesome family. Have a wonderful week!!!
So lively to see you all sitting down together and chatting like this, looking forward to Sam using her channel again. You will never lose your accents, I moved here to Queensland Oz 50years ago and still have my North London accent anither secret to adapting is to accept France/ Australia and its ways, lifestyle etc but retain your own culture and traditions and blend them in. For an Aussie I'm still very English. Thank you for sharing 💕🇦🇺
For those wondering about the woodworm. French buildings used earth as an insulator, and sound reducer, that was one method of how woodworm came in during construction. Others came in from contaminated products. Water intrusion around doors and windows causes a bigger wood rot problem to floors and joists then just worm damage.
Greetings, Sam & Sean. I can't sleep, here in South-east Australia. I love the episodes where you show us the roadside & open air markets. I also love copper cookware. My ambition is to own a copper preserving pan. Ah, we all can dream.
If it would ever be fun for you, I'd love to hear Jasmine and Jack and the family have a conversation in French. Maybe just smatterings of it in the videos? 😊
Oh how I would love to live in the French countryside.. My ancestors (Belanger) are from Normandy, they go wayyyy back to the 1500's and beyond. I have never been to France, but I LOVE everything about the rural areas.. Maybe someday. Nice video.. thank you..
@@juliad368 Oh, that's interesting. They probably were relatives. . I am in the N.E. USA. because (Francois Belanger) left Normandy in 1635 on Capt. Giffords ship.. , They came to Canada, landed at the mouth of St. Lawrence River in "The New France", (Quebec). But All of his (Francois) family was still in Normandy area. His father was also named Francois, born late 1500's. That's as far back as I have been able to go. Interesting history... I think that is why I am SO drawn to that area.
It’s an amazing place so beautiful. Lots of stairs and lots of people. We visited in 2019 and would love to visit France again but travel from Australia takes approx 22 hours which is not fun. 🇦🇺
This was lovely. You have a lovely family and your children have inherited your aura of peace and humility in the very best sense. Thank you for this ❤
My Mother's family is from Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire England. But my Grandfather and my Great Grandpa moved to the US in the 1920. His brothers stayed in England. I miss the proper way my Grandfather talked. He always called me by my full name. When my Mom did, I knew I was in trouble. LOL
Hello from Michigan in the US. Loved the video today it was very interesting learning about you and your family . I’ve been watching your videos for some time now and also ones with Billy . Love all the stuff you do and also the laughter you all bring .
In 2000 My husband, myself and 3 young kids stayed in verdelot, Ile-de-france. We had a tour of a small vineyard. The owner, an elderly farmer type was quite standoffish with us at first, only speaking when he had to. My son who was 7 at the time mentioned that we were Scottish. I was shocked at the change in the man. He got very chatty and friendly, even giving us a free champagne tasting. When asked he said he thought we were English and wasn’t keen on them as they can be rude and arrogant !?!? As we were leaving I told him that it was only me and the kids that were Scottish, my husband is actually English. His face was a picture lol. I was really shocked, dismayed and in disbelief at his total u turn in demeanour and obvious discrimination towards the English. I’m so glad that you guys haven’t come across discrimination which gives me hope that there are very few incidents and our experience was an exception rather than the norm. Love to all 🤗
Unfortunately, I'd have to agree with you, I'm not sure why but it is kinda true. It heavily depends on the region I think but in rural areas there is definitely a general cold/impatient attitude towards english people specifically. Maybe I picked up on it more than my parents!
Just FYI I'm half French and half British and I get a lot of crap for being French when in the UK whereas I have never had anything but curious and interested comments from the French about my British half. I find many Brits to be shockingly and openly xenophobic when it comes to the French.
Well done, an interesting listen. Love your channel and enthusiasm for renovation, history, gardening and nature. Been with you from the start of Sean’s World and thoroughly enjoy the content 👍
Aw, this was so nice. We've been hosting our daughter, son-in-law, their Alaskan Malamute and beaded dragon for a few days. Their house is being fumigated and they had to stay someplace that would allow their dog. I've been so happy to have her under our roof again. It's so great to see parents with grown kids who actually enjoy being together. Have a great week and Sam, I'm voting for you to get that ladder outside the cottage for potted plants! 💚
Sean and Sam....you are a beautiful couple and have wonderful children. I laugh every time I hear Jasmine talk, as her voice is so much like Sam's...lovely!! You are a beautiful family and am so happy that you are sharing your story with us. Bless you all and much love from Canada..🇨🇦 💝
I agree lovely family! I really enjoy and appreciate how Shaun introduces us to the beautiful villages. He is so knowledgeable about his area. Thankyou Shaun! Thankyou to the other members of your family too. ❤
