I bought one of these from EAMES model shop new in the 1980s and painted it BR black. I'm still kicking myself today for that. On the plus side , the box is still mint.
oh dear , but if you enjoyed the loco its not worth looking back badly on the painting, I have many an instance like that. Many thanks for watching and taking the time to message.
Grandad had an excellent collection all around. The livery may have been fictitious, but the locomotive is not. I do love the old stuff and the simplicity of the mechanics. Great video, Jersey Bill
Hi Jersey Bill, Apologies for not replying sooner. I do have vague memories of his railway shed, quite a while ago though, as you say these older locos as such a pleasure to work on. Matt
From what I read, 2085 in CR livery did exist but was a bit controversial at the time but, if that is true, then the model is true to life! There are photos on line of the real locomotive.
Apologies for not replying soon, Someone else pointed that out I will have a search for the photos. Many thanks for watching and taking the time to message.
Youve been holding out on us mate. Lol. That is a beautiful engine. I love these, I have a few Wrenn and dublo 4mt's. But not this one because I just cant find one thats a price I can justify or afford. Im so Jealous. 🤣 I just knew from the condition this one was going to go well with a quick service and remag. Im So glad to see you remagging them in situ. 👍 Incidently this livery isnt entirely ficticious. There was a 4MT painted in Caledonian Blue by one of the preservation groups back in the day. Thanks for showing us. 😊
Although that was a Fairburn 4MT and not the Standard 4MT like the Wrenn model. Still annoyed I missed out on this model at 50% off closing down sale circa 1984. I later met the guy who bought the last one running it on and exhibition layout.
Hi Apologies for the delayed reply, Thanks for tine info about the livery I had no idea and yes as you said in suture was much better. Many thanks again for watching and taking the time to message,
Apologies for not replying sooner, Just looked up the Fairburn 4MT, thanks for the info. I know the feeling when you miss the chance to buy a loco or even worse decide no to and regret it! Many thanks for watching and taking the time to message.
Hi Matt, I was at the Cambridge show on Saturday, and wondered if you would be there. One of the traders (Checkrail) had just sold one of these for £240, so he was quite pleased! I'll be at Shenfield on the 21st (worth a visit), hope to see you there. Regards, from Zoë.
Hi Zoë, so sorry, just catching up on messages so apologies for not replying sooner, I did set off for Cambridge but 20 mins into the journey I felt a bit rough so went back home, I didn't make Shenfield either due to family commitments, several penned in for the next few weekends though so maybe see you then. £240!, its a nice loco but that a crazy price. Matt

It's Belle:-) How she'd look in the Railway Series without those stupid water cannons!
