Excellent video. Good to see the brains of the operation. Enjoy all your videos but especially the vintage side by sides. Love to see Purdey's, Boss and Grants back out in action. Be looking forward to next years Southern Side by Side event.
Lovely programme, and wonderful guns featured - thank you! I'm reminded of a quotation attributed to writer Stephen Bodio, "why kill a beautiful bird with an ugly gun?" Clearly, our forebears had wonderful taste, and our gunmakers amazing skill. 'If God had intended for us to shoot over/unders, He wouldn't have placed our eyes 'side-by-side.'
I had a double 12 bore by Smith of Newark. I believe you own the name. It had been 2 3/4" re-proofed with 30 inch Damascus barrels and bar action Stanton locks marked number 1 of a pair. Sadly I sold it through Holts'. I should have contacted you first if I had known at the time. Love hammer guns and use them a lot. Sadly the demise of lead will make them just cabinet pieces for most of the time.
Should raise some eyebrows this weekend, having a go at DTL with my E M Really 16 bore hammer gun. Just love pulling the hammers back , wears the thumbs out of my Macwets but got to be done!
had a (new) Italian 3 inch magnum hammer gun.32 inch barrels full and full choke years ago from elderkins . postie left it in the outside loo when I was at work ! happy days.
👍🏻
It’s always a great treat to see Roy. Especially when you pick up a gun repair & see him in his workshop!. Keep up the videos… Thanks.
