@@McKonggaming I remember some youtuber moving the crosshair down on the scope (I know this is hard to understand) and kept the barrel aiming at right angle so he doesn't have to lift it there again
@@NineSeptims If you are using binoculars and LMB click, the barrel adjusts to that position. Then you hold the 'mouse look' key in 3rd person and the barrel will maintain that position, even if you turn the tank.
i have a possible explanation for this, yes there might be tank enthusiast that work/made the game, yes they have might have went and tried to cover everything with historians when making the tanks but at the end of the day i dont think theres a single trained military tank operator thats a dev that makes tutorials to give you a break down on how to properly aim or give you a 6 month course on target acquisition/firing control ie what im saying is the devs modeled everything to how a tank is suppose to operate or whatever but they dont how to aim those tank sights in real life who would? so its something you have to develop or look into to fully understand which is how we have ended up here on this video trying to find tips on how to actual sight in targets with the optics that where given
@@Feyser1970 it is a feature that marks on the map the place that you are looking at, just like the normal map ping, but only for members of your squad It also shows an arrow above the ping too
I quickly got used to the Russian stadiametric rangefinding on ground vehicle and rifle optics in the game Squad and the first shot accuracy benefits are huge.

I printed out the the ranging tables and taped it to my monitor. It's the single most useful War Thunder tip I've heard. The rangefinder takes a few seconds to give you a value with varying degrees of accuracy based on crew skill. Thanks!

This is a game changing feature so pay attention to my comment Set up sight distance control it will tell u the range ur scope is set to and it will automatically correct the angle ur tank is at so if ur tabk is at like 45 degrees of angle to the side u dont need to correct the angle at witch u fire. Just line up the middle lines and increase the range to how far away the tank is. On controller I like to run the left bumper and the dpad up or down to increase and decrease. It also tells u the range u have zerod in so ur not guessing
Thanks for the tip. I use it occasiinally and binded the mousewheel to set it. However it is not that sensitive and sometimes it misses some 50 meters. I think I habe to check it again how I can adjust this.
Can you make a controls tutorial? I noticed you play on your PS4 and I can't seem to find a good setting that allows me to level Keyboard and mouse players or at least put me somewhere near their level
You mean adjust the distance so that you can still point the crosshair right at the enemy? Iirc it is under controls and search for sight distance control. Bind a key to increase axis value, to decrease and to reset. Know you can use these keybinds to set it
I just checked it and put an object between the two 4 mil marks from the gunners perspective. Then I switched to the binoculars and it still fitted perfectly. So I think in the binoculars it also has to be 4 mils.

No, when the enemy is within the 16 mils and you see him from the side you have to device 3000 by 32. That equals around 100 meters. This is why I pointed out in the video that the mils above 8 are not that interessting since you are very very close to the enemy. Hope that helped?
So you dont have to use the middle of the tank for measuring then doing multiplications put cross hair on one side of the target, however this entire method is assuming you know the size of the target. this is ok for MOST tanks. but you will be thrown off by tanks of a non standard size. like the B1 ter, or the L3 and wiesel. this is amplified by low velocity rounds and you will need more precise measurements. when I dont use the range finder I use Kentucky windage. which is more of a practices ingraining of practice to make it instinctive. mixed with the map grids I have an 80-85% hit rate with first shot with low velocity rounds and 95%+ with high velocity rounds. Kentucky windage also helps when dealing with partially concealed/covered tanks that cant be measured.
Sounds interessting and you bet I immediately watched some videos about it. This method doesn't help to get the distance? For the distance you use the grid cell size and kentucky windage for moving targets?
@@McKonggaming your method and the other scope hash mark methods work ONLY when the tanks are the same size as a standard tank. when aiming at say an AML 90 its about half the size of most tanks so you will usually over estimate and shoot over the tank. on tanks like the maus you will under estimate and shoot low. you can use the squad marking to get a grid reference and get range that way, at least a rough estimate, then Kentucky windage from there. moving targets you almost have to Kentucky windage the whole shot as by the time you Identify the target to know its size and do the math they will be behind cover or range will have changed. often if I can and I plan on being in a spot for a bit I will range different objects, buildings, hill crests, other destroyed tanks etc. then put them into memory.
No problem. On the horizontal line you have the mils as described in the video. The vertical numbers are meters and between each line there are 200 meters. So 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200.... So when an enemy is 600 meter away, aim with this line on the enemy/weakspot or adjust the hight and aim with the center of the crosshair. To do so you have to bind keys in the settings.

Yeah, WoT was easier. I didn't like that enemies were able to shoot the comanders sight on my E-100 again and again until finally taking me out. Kinda missed the point of a heavy tank in my opinion.
@@McKonggaming Sometimes shooting enemies in its vulnerable area doesn't work but the enemy themselves can shoot at that spot easily...And the aiming system should adjust automatically...
@@McKonggaming I have a realization, firing your driver is like firing your left hand and the part of your brain that decides what that left hand does.
First I thought one can use them to aim on targets while standing on a slope and tilted to the side. I thought one can determine the diagonal point where the enemy is 😅 that was sooo wrong I had to find out what they are really used for.

@@NineSeptims One can use the mouse to adjust the vertical positioning of the barrel. Can also be done with key-binds as well.
0:50 You also can bind the squad ping to Z or something like that and easily use to find the distance to a target using this method!

I just use an 8.8cm flak 37 destroyed a T-34 in 1.6km after seeing this. nice video, this helps a lots

But what if the enemy is so close to you and it fits both the Left and Right 16 Mil's does that means you have to Elevate to 1600 km?
