War Thunder guide - Why you're bad #2 : Map knowledge

- I hope you like the series as much as I like making it.
This second video is about map knowledge and how you can use a simple concept to help you learn them and become more efficient in your games.
The aim is to show you how to easily learn the maps for you to focus more on what the ennemy is doing rather than where you are moving. As I say in the video, the map skeleton can be applied to every single map, apart from some exceptions. Feel free to try each cap route for each map, find the one you love the most, or the one on which you have the most success and just practice it !
Also, don't forget to use sound cues to really improve drastically at the game.

I feel like this game is a whole lot of luck and a whole lot of situational awareness
Situational Awareness, yes, definitely, luck also but a lot less than SA. You can basically avoid death 9 times out of 10 just thanks to how aware you are of your surroundings.
@@barkacarthago5536 I just hide behind buildings and hills seems to work the best for me anyway I’m ok but not super good I’m still learning the maps. The maps are really crappy lol love the game tho and will continue to play it but man do I want some new maps something fresh you know.
I just like to hide behind stuff and hide. Also wait for the right moment. Just like hunting.

After a string of awfull matches (16th mostly) i then got my best game ever with 9 kills, no death.
So yeah, luck needs to be there. Along with competent enough teamates

My friend once said: "People on war thunder take their tank's armour for granted... Never NEVER take it for granted. Bragging about how "impenetrable" your tank is the equivalent of labeling the Titanic as unsinkable.

It's my biggest problem in the game, I tend to rush directly to the cap points without paying attention to my environment and taking advantage from it and then I got destroyed very easily. And every match I repeat the process like an idiot... But this video with the route advice is very useful !

@@barkacarthago5536 Ah, alors franchement je pensais pas du tout que tu étais français, l'accent anglais était juste incroyable, j'avais eu un doute au moment de la prononciation de AMX 56 mais je me suis dit que c'était un hasard, quelqu'un qui est passionné par le véhicule etc... X)

@@barkacarthago5536 Don't wanna be that guy, but the designation "AMX-56" is wrong. In all official documents, the Leclerc is simply referred to as the "Char Leclerc".
I think map knowledge is absolutely essential. Aim, awareness etc it all comes after map knowledge.

Karelia is my favorite map so far probably because I found a great spot on it whenever I spawn in the northern side of the map I just spawn on the left side and then there's a hill there you can snipe people of early game
Yes, but south has one spot to counter it brilliantly. I have seen used once by a goddamn M10 that killed me twice... i couldn't hit him.
I got one or 2 great games at that northern spot, but at higher BR it looses effectiveness and you have 36 people shooting at you

I just started to play few days ago and my goodness.
So much this game has that you should be aware of that it's one of the most beginners fuck off game I've played. Also doesn't help the fact that I've never played on pc before. The simultaneous key pressing is just.....and crew skills. Goodness.

I'm starting to play ground rb and since I'm researching tank destroyer, light tank and spaa I have no armor so I try to flank every single game.
My tip: avoid knocking down trees. Ops can see them fall so know where you are.

I’ve been having bad luck with warthunder, aside from not being very good my gpu crashes a lot and my WiFi dies randomly

This game is making me rage.I hit an amx 50 on the side with tiger 2 and it didn’t die.He shot me once and I died.like his gunner was taken out yet he shot back in 3 sec
IIRC the AMX-50 has commander fire control, which could explain that

Yes, Russia players are pretty much forced to learn and master positioning because of how punitive their tanks are if they fuck up

As a new player your success in a match comes down to luck as much as anything else, because the fact is no matter what tactics you use your going to come up against high ranking player's (Marshall's, ect) with there "expert crew's" who will always have an overwhelming advantage over you no matter how you play, unfortunately it's not a level playing field for the novice!

is there any mods that change the mini-map?, the mini maps in war thunder are dogshit at showing important information, to say the least, every map has a different grid value for some dump reason and it does not show where forests, rocks, and treelines are, also it does not do as good of a job as one would like of showing inclination
Gayjoobles doesn't allow for mods sadly. I agree that some QoL are needed here and there but that's never gonna happen I'm afraid

I'm a trusty defender of the leopard family, so I'd say the Leopards 2A5 and 2A6 as well as the Swedish 122's, but you can find a hidden gem in the French Leclerc's and the Soviet top tiers are becoming a thing again

Why am i bad.... Is because I don't. and I mean it, I absolutely don't understand how everyone knows war thunder's maps like its imprinted in the back of there Minds/Brains . I will never understand how they know the best spots even in low tier
There are people who have a life and don't even have time to play war thunder every time of the day,
And that's okay, mate. We're not all equal regarding playtime because of life, work, children etc, that's the cruelty of video games, but it doesn't mean you cannot enjoy the game at your own pace !
