4everzard I think it was one of the best. It’s different. It’s not just a card game trying to get their life points down. Now when I was a kid not gonna lie I was put off by it not being like the tv show. But I got into it and fifteen years later at 28 years old I’m getting into it like I never did
This is easily my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh game because if I wanted to play a game that was like Yu-Gi-Oh I would just go play the actual card game it's fun because it's different and has an old-school Final Fantasy type play and seeing the different ways you can turn one monster into another monster or how you unlock stories was really good for the time I just wish the story was little bit better because it's literally the same storyline as every other Yu-Gi-Oh game ever Kaiba creates a digital simulation everyone gets sucked in just like duel links duelist Saga all of them

For some of these encounters you don't necessarily have to restart the entire campaign to get them; if you defeat Zoa for instance and then deliberately lose as Kaiba and return to the marshall assemble screen, you can equip Metalmorph to Zoa and then restart the mission and you will be able to encounter Zoa's party and recruit another Zoa in the same playthrough.
Just tested this out. Doesn’t work. You can re-battle the roaming monster but you don’t acquire the monster after winning a 2nd time on the same playthrough

A triple pack with those 2 and Capsule Monsters Coliseum would be peak. The full trifecta of Gamecube/PS2 era weird but surprisingly good experimental titles.

Wish the game came out after season 3. XYZ Dragon Cannon, Gilford the Lightning, Perfect Machine King, Black Flare Knight and Black Paladin could've been here. Still very odd that Joey doesn't have a super monster in his campaign. And a reason not to evolve Black Magician is a boon to the balance.
This is before 2004. Would be cool for XYZ Dragon Cannon.

One of, if not my favorite Yu-gi-oh! game along with Capsule Colleseum, Duelist Of The Roses, & Forbidden Memories. They should have made a sequel. I never understood some of the monsters that were in it when other monsters were more important in the show

A modern day spiritual successor to this game would be pretty cool.
Always thought with just a little work, the system could be overhauled to include a ton of new and interesting mechanics to make this a really cool series.
Thanks for the guide going back and playing this game that I bought as a child but never got around to actually finishing the campaign this guide was helpful in finding most of the monsters I finished Yugi's campaign and am onto Kaiba's but without this guide I definitely would've missed a lot of monsters along the way

Thanks man, never knew about some of these. Assuming most of the people who watched, played this game as a younger kid / adult. Appreciate the effort you put into this and will use it to complete my play-through.
I usually start with kaiba because I hate that misson where tea is surrounded. Having her monsters start at higher levels with their abilities is a huge help
Literally I run to the town behind me at an angle avoiding them bc her lead is faster, then go ahead and hop out of the town on the other side and let them capture. Move her to the other base where she again outruns then switch her positioning around so as they get there someone else battles.

Man, i been itching to replay this game for like 3-4 years, so glad this guide exists! I remember playing this as a 12y/o child with the prima guide. It was fun to go through it with perfect knowledge, but even that wasn't enough (like the zoa dup "glitch", for example). I wasn't even strong enough to beat summoned skull then. Playing this again as an adult has been an absolute blast. Once again, thank you for this upload!

4:32 For dark magician girl If you have difficulty, its not weird people just don't know. you have to have dark magician party leader in Yugi party+ capture 2 town with Yugi and no one else. after some time she will join party.
YGO monsters as characters in a game is such an awesome concept instead of just cards that aren’t animated like they do today. This is definitely something that’s missing from the games today I feel among other things but a newer JRPG style Yu Gi Oh game would be pretty cool especially if they added the lore of the monsters from the cards.
When you recruit Gaia, you can lose the mission afterwards and make him to Black Luster Soldier, then recruit Gaia again.

do you think you may cover yugioh duelist of the roses? its a very unique take of the card game and it would be nice to know what monsters you are able to obtain from challenging each duelist. or what slot machine combo you need to get a rare card.
I've actually never played Duelist of the Roses, but I'm planning on playing it, as well as Capsule Monster Coliseum. I.pove alternate takes on Yu-Gi-Oh!, so I'll definitely be making guides somewhere down the road.

Hey thanks for the guide. This game expects some pretty stupid shenanigans out of you with getting all the monsters so a direct video is so much nicer than blindly walking around the map till you hit an encounter. We need more of the Yugioh spinoffs, Duelist of the Roses was awesome too it feels like part of yugioh has been lost without these janky little side projects to play

@@darthbane3346 As this is my goal as well, I am inclined to ask how you leveled up the low level recruits later on. Ex. Berfomet in Kaiba's campaign after Yugi's. He joins at level 1, while the opposition is above level 30. How did you level monsters like these up at all?
Put all three monsters on either Yugi or Kaiba' s team and just summon the god monsters and the weaker monsters get experience.
What I did was run with a level 99 on the teams I would use and 2 low levels which I dont suggest saving the low hp ones for last as that was a pain in the ass but with yugi or kaiba I ran with 2 level 99s as to not have them be killed for being to weak
Yugi campaign: 1:20
Kaiba campaign: 6:44

Still hard to believe a guide for an early 2000's game gets uploaded many years later but hey I'm not complaining, convenient guide is convenient I just didn't expect it to be in the same year I decided to play it again.

A bit late from when uploaded, but great vid, seems I wasn't so far off on my runs and monster collecting. I did end up restarting my whole game to see how to optimize my runs and team building more efficiently, which is the fun part given how we have 3 campaigns to build teams for, thematic or optimal builds.

And using this guide and finishing out this game now that I'm old enough to understand how I've also figured out how to get all the monsters while only going through yugi's campaign twice
All you need to do is refrain from using black luster ritual on either dark magician or gaia until your second playthrough for yugi, then after getting king of yamimakai make magician of black chaos then make black luster soldier when you get the second ritual
Damn... I was so young and stupid back then that I didn't think for a minute to build a shop in one of my bases to buy items from (plus it didn't help that I was stingy with my gold). Thus, I never got the Metalmorphs, Cocoon of Evolution, or Call of the Graves. Also, I kept forgetting to come back for the monsters that required their counterparts in order to recruit them. I want to play this game just one more time and beat it thoroughly.
I did the same thing. Money is pretty tight actually. If you do what most people do (which is buying a Barricade and healing station for every multi-battle encounter) you usually won't accrue much money in the long run. Thank heavens for the money cheat lmao

Fun fact: The 3 Blue Eyes are only named here and are supposedly named after an angel of death, an archangel intermediary between God and humans, and a prophet. Not sure if its all true but given their near-godlike power in the Yugioh lore, plus Kaibas ego, it would check out.

@@georgebotner3164I'm not sure if u ever found a GameCube, but I thought I'd mention that the Wii can play GameCube games along with wii games. I know as I have a wii and that's what I use to replay my old GameCube games all you need for it is a GameCube controller + memory card and the disc.

If u have a wii still you can play the GameCube games on it. All you need is a GameCube controller + memory card and the disk.
Pro tip: Wait to upgrade Magician of Black Chaos until you do Badlands on your SECOND run. That way you can get two new monsters, including Reaper of the Cards, since you have DM#2 to cover for DM. Then you just have to do Yugi's campaign a third time for another Dark Magician after upgrading the first one (which you'd want to do to get Gemini Elf Lora anyway)
Still have this game on GameCube. Playing it right now actually. On “Badlands” mission.
Don't forget to grab Summoned Skull and the three wandering monsters to the right of his base! 😁

I find it hilarious that they'll give Joey a story mildly treating him like a main character but still make him much weaker then yugi and Kaiba.
Well what's even weirder, is Yugi and Kaiba are forced to start at level 1 or 31, and Joey always gets to start out with the strongest beginner teams, yet story-wise it's always implied he's a mediocre leader. Very bizarre!

Was wondering is it possible to start playing Kaiba's campaign first before playing Yugi's because even though the amount of monsters you find with Yugi's is much more massive is it possible to still finish Kaiba's campaign first or is doing Yugi's first a must? The reason I ask is because when you do Yugi's first then the majority of monsters you find as wild encounters in Kaiba's campaign aren't used cuz they're so underleveled so I was curious if you can still succeed starting with Kaiba cuz I'd like to play the campaign with the monsters you find with him instead and actually use them all?
You can start with Kaiba, totally! I usually just start with Yugi because you'll have to pass through his campaign more times than Kaibas.

I like this game because it reminds me of ogre battle
I hate how pretty much all the wild or mission victory monsters with the exception of starting teams start at level 1 no matter how far you are into a campaign or if it’s your second or third campaign player makes most of them pretty useless considering enemies will be like 40 levels above them and they’ll have to get hard carried for several missions effectively making pretty much a dead slot on your team if you really wanna use them also why the hell did they decide to lock some monsters behind getting other monsters that can only be found in Joey’s campaign the very last campaign of the game that causes everything to go up to level 99 after being beaten.
I took the time to document every single monster's level 1 to level 99 stats and made sure to max out every monsters.
It took me a couple months. There's literally nothing to gain from half the monsters, since the Harpies, Dark Magicians, and a few others are better than any guy you have to locate and grind out to be useful. Very bizarre design choice, for sure.

Moisture Creature's recruitment requirements really remind me of that time period where some devs hid secrets behind a bizarre set of actions.

Neither did I! No enemy Marshal uses him, and you'd have to really go out of your way to encounter him by messing about in an empty map, so I had to look up a guide to even locate him at all! ;0

Make sure you're using Joey, as any other Marshal won't get it. You can use monsters with bigger encounter circles to help with finding it too!
