    Nice clear tutorial. It looks to me like you starched the fabric rather heavily, and that's a good idea, because it holds the threads still and reduces stretching when sewing. If you did in fact use starch, you might want to mention that. And if you didn't starch, try it, because it makes the fabric behave!

    • @sugarstitchesquiltco
      @sugarstitchesquiltco  Год назад +15

      @Sugar Stitches Quilt Co. Good thinking! Thanks. I love that you used a simple method to do this. New quilters will start off understanding the geometry instead of templates and rulers. I say this bc I had an awful time concentrating on those instead of the actual shape of the fabric piece itself.

    I’m definitely going to try this. I have a quilt in mind that will only use two fabrics, and I want to play with half square triangles to see what I like with all the placement options. Love this!!!

    Perfect timing. I was wanting a border of HST for a bear claw. I’ve been putting it off just because I need so many HST. I’m on my way to a finished quilt top! Thank you 🙏

    Thank you so much. Half square triangles are gorgeous, but they do require a lot of work. However, you made it so easy. Again, thank you 😊

    One thing. When you've cut the big square down to the 4 squares and started using rotating mat cut your perpendicular and horizontal lines (middles), you should then rotate mat again, without lifting up material or shifting material, then cut the diagonal seams. Saves a ton of time.

    I am in the very beginning stage of learning how to make quilts and have therefore watched a LOT of videos! I hope you know that you are an excellent teacher! 😊 You gave clear instructions and explained the “why” as well. After watching your video, I am confident I could make these HSTs. But, as a quilting newbie, my problem would be not knowing what to do with them! Lol 😂😂 (I’ll get there though!) Thank you for a great video! It’s very appreciated!
