Bit of advice (and you might’ve done this idk, I’m just trying to be helpful): leave a back door open in case anything goes wrong. When ever my single self is asked to give advice I like to bookend it with something like “Keep in mind, I’m not in a relationship but...” and something like “...or something like that idk. Remember I’ve never been in a relationship and each one is different, so play it by ear and do what you think is best.” because if something does go wrong, you warned them in advance and they can only be mad at themselves for not heeding the warning. If they still blame it on you and don’t apologize later then you might have to talk to them about it and, if nothing changes, that might be a sign to let the friendship go.

Most friendships break because as soon as people are in a relationship, they poop on most of their friends and that's not someone I want to be friends with.

I like using my online friends as a sounding board but I let it be known I do NOT want advice! I have the answers to my problems and if I don't, patience and time will provide an answer (or the issue was already resolved, like maybe with work). I just rant about things in my life with jokes added to let it be known I'm frustrated and laughing at the same time. I just need someone to listen to my rant, XD

My favourite one is where I give them advice for an hour, they do the opposite, then later on they happen to have had a epiphany about to do 'on their own' that coincidentally sounds exactly like the advice i gave them a week ago. I mean, what are the chances?
In the Philippines even at a frickin young age of like 7, there are already peeps with relationships at this time of their lives. So when it comes to advice there are three peeps:
*1. The one with helpful advice - has experienced bad relationships and either already found "the one" or is an independent person.*
*2. The one with so much advices and examples - bad person to ask because they have been in so many relationships so has a lot to say. Only thing you know they taught you is to NOT be like them*
*3. The wise ones - single, but for some reason is full of knowledge and has good points.*

I can't tell you how often I've tried helping my best friend get out of her relationship/household with her family, because they're toxic and emotionally/psychologically abusive to her.

You’re preaching the truth my friends have no problem talking to me about their problems and I give them advice and they are quick to ignore it or do the opposite of it. I have no sympathy for them for when the negative stuff starts to happen.

When I was in a bad relationship and a friend pointed out some things to me, she did actually open my eyes and I realized the relationship was not okay. I always appreciate it when friends tell me their opinions about my relatinoships, as little as they can see, because there might be red flags that I miss because of my emotions. Of course, in the end, I do the thinking and decide whether or not I should take their concerns into consideration. I've always done the same for my friends and this is so legit, whenever I give relationship advice, either the person does turn on me eventually, OR they prefer to complain, then go back to their unhappy relationship and completely ignore my advice or comments. It's time I learnt my lesson. People just want to be unhappy in their familiar toxic environment and complain from time to time, but doing absolutely nothing constructive to be happier.

I REALLY relate to that whole people calling me to talk for me for 2 hours over the phone to talk about problems we've already talked about and I already gave them advice thing. I have friends that still do that and drive me nuts! I HAVE however also been blessed to have friends who only just needed encouragement, HANDLED their business, and then got back in touch with me to thank me for just being there for them. Those friends are something special, sadly because they are more productive with their lives I don't get to hear from them as much as the other group.

Swoozie, as the single friend, I have never felt more understood than right now.
But I really appreciate the advice of drawing boundaries with your time on giving relationship advice. It's hard to draw boundaries in that situation without seeming like a bad friend, downright cold, or making the other person feel guilty, but I'm soooo tired of having long convos on relationship issues that we've already talked about, but THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO CHANGE IT.

@@hitrujillo7529 Well you're not wrong, but I don't take any personal offense if someone drops me when they get an S/O. People change when they're at stage 1 of a relationship and I think you should be supportive if your friend gets an S/O. If their absence is bothering you, you communicate and ask if you can have hangouts w/o the S/O. But I absolutely can't stand it if they friend changes plans and brings the S/O or if the hangouts constantly become relationship counseling session for the majority of the time.
