Oakridge Boys and Home Free sing great together. Great harmonies. Thank you for playing this song. Austin that is singing high tenor of Home Free. Adam did a great job with beatboxing. 😊
Came for Home Free! Subbed because you actually noticed Tim’s bass drop after his verse in Man of Constant Sorrow… If you want to get to know a little more about their background, watch their journey on The Sing Off. I recommend the videos with introduction and judges comments. Keep the Home Free coming.
This collab was so awesome!! You can tell both groups had so much fun!!❤ You should check out the one with Kenny Rodgers, also if you haven’t done the ones with Don McLean. Thanks for the reaction Josh! 🏡🍟 I was never in to sports, but I guess you are technically my state’s biggest rivalry college-wise, at least that is what you always heard about! 😂😂. As I said, I was never that big into the craziness of it all… OSU vs. MI , 😂. Oh, those memories, now I am older…and those days are past.😂😂
Home Free us fabulous live. I was lucky enough to be at a concert where they professionally recorded their Sea Shanty Medley. It's amazing and gives an idea of how much fun they are in person.
Do the "Sea Shanty medley live", it is awesome. Also, I don't know if anyone has suggested "The Driver", or "Traveling Soldier"- both are excellent. There are too many good ones to go through. I'd also like to suggest a group you may not have heard of, but I bet you'll like them. Try "Broken Cowboy" (Happy mag version) by The Dead South - amazing talent & very unique. They have many great songs that are mostly written by the band members. If you're in Michigan, just look across the big lake and you'll see me in northern Wisconsin. Enjoy your reactions.
This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oak Ridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.
They are still doing this in their live shows - and Adam is still excellent in it. Well, in all he does, but ... The Oak Ridge Boys gave HF credibility in the country music space by their 'adoption' and promotion of HF. They welcomed them on their stage, they gave them equal billing at a time when they would have been ecstatic at being third or fourth billing. Th ORB are on their good-bye tour right now, but their tenor had to step down during it, his health wouldn't let him continue the tour. HF did a collaboration with the ORB and Jeffrey East (someone else you should check out) on Beautiful Star of Bethlehem during their Warmest Winter TV special - find the video and enjoy Jeffrey and Austin in their solo parts. There are plenty of fan recordings from their concerts over the years, but very few professional ones. There is one that was posted last month of most of the concert from April 6th this year with decent sound and a bit of just about everything they do in a show. It is a 50 minutes video, so not one for a reaction as a whole, but a good one to show you how fantastic they are. "Home Free Live in Concert at the IP Casino Biloxi Mississippi". There is also a video of their entire European concert that was edited from fan footage - "Home Free - Live from Europe | Multicam | Road Sweet Road Tour 2023". But you might watch the encore for this year's tour - there is a decent video of the two high-energy songs "HOME FREE CRAZY(ER) LIFE TOUR: ENCORE LISTEN TO THE MUSIC/SEA SHANTY MEDLEY".
OR - off mic, in a rainstorm, standing on picnic tables under a shelter. How Great Thou Art. Many fan videos out there, this one is the poorest view of them but the best balanced sound. ruclips.net/video/otXfVaMY2yQ/видео.html
Great reaction!! The Oak Ridge Boys are Mentors to Home Free.Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys sang another song together with Jeffery East called Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem. The Oak Ridge Boys are a Country/Gospel group started in 1943 in Oak Ridge Tennessee with the name Oak Ridge Quartet became popular Southern Gospel Singers in the 1950’s.Their group name changed to The Oak Ridge Boys in the 1960’s they sang gospel till the 1970’s then changed to country/gospel.They released Elvira in 1981.The title of the song was inspired not by the name of a woman, but by the name of a street in East Nashville, Tennessee. Was written and sung by Dallas Frazier in 1966. Here’s a list of the Oak Ridge Boys Duane Allen (lead singer) sitting next Rob Joe Bonsall ( Tenor) next to Austin William Lee Golden (Baritone) White long beard Richard Sterban (Bass) Sang as bass for Elvis for 2 yrs 1971/1972 Home Free guys Austin Brown: High Tenor ( white cut off) Tim Foust : Bass Rob Lundquist: Lead Tenor ( Beard and Glasses) Adam Rupp :Beatboxer Chris Rupp : Baritone ( Chris left group in 2016 was replaced by Adam Chance aka Chance
The tenor in the cut off sleeves is Austin Brown if you like him in homefree check out Austin's solo channel. The beat boxer name is Adam Rupp if you haven't yet check out the fan videos taken at homefree's live concerts of Adam's drum solo he does.
This really gives me the sense of "Home Free Past" meeting "Oak Ridge Boys future". The ORB's bass, Richard Sterban, sang bass for Elvis Presley early in his career. Home Free definitely collaborated with true country legends on this song--and I LOVE this collaboration❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree #OakRidgeBoys
Love hearing Home Free and the Oakridge Boys. Also the shout out to Geoff Castellucci of VoicePlay at the end of the video for this cover song arrangement.
Such a fun collaboration. They have another collaboration at Christmastime with Star of Bethlehem. When live, Tim (bass) has a lot of fun with the audience. He goes really low. The audience can’t keep up. It’s a good one Josh! 😍😄
They did a professional filmed live-version of their Sea Shanty Medley if you want to hear them live without going to a concert. There are lots of fan-recordings, but the sound varies, but even the better ones don't catch everything because it's filmed on their phones. If you want some mind-boggling vocal percussions try Listen To The Music. Adam goes a bit crazy in this one.
Their collaborations with the legendary Oak Ridge Boys are epic! Another one with them is "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" - utterly gorgeous. HF also has collaborations with Kenny Rogers ("Children Go where I send thee"), Alabama ("Christmas in Dixie"), Lee Greenwood ("God Bless the USA), Don McLean ("American Pie", "Vincent") and Texas Hill ("Dreamer Live", "Go Tell It on the Mountain", "Givin' Up on You").
If you want to see Home Free live and you have time for a 27-minutes reaction (or break it up into several videos) see the video Home Free Concert Morrison, IL 8/19/15. The group did more than a decade doing show like this, outdoors at state and county fairs. If that's too long for a reaction start at the 6:45 mark for a little by-play with the audience before the most hilarious rendition of a song they've sort of made their own in the many times the done it live. Another live bit that went wonderfully sideways is titled Home Free BHH + WWTWWS. Their high tenor Austin Brown sang Bring Him Home on his own channel, going back to his musical theater roots with the number from Les Miz and he sings it here with his bandmates as backup. The second part is a number that was done in their live show so it could be slightly different each time. This one's the best. Another piece with different live version is Adam Rupp's Drum Solo. Enjoy!
Love the outdoor reaction! I love this collaboration, the passing of the torch so to speak. Home Free has done many great collaborations; Children Go Where I Send Thee with Kenny Rogers and American Pie and Vincent with Don MacLean to name a few. Thank you for a fun reaction and enjoy your day; it looks like you have a lot of farm work to do today. You might be able to relate to the video of Austin Brown’s original song “Earn It”. Thanks again!
I know you and I truly enjoy David Phelps and feel you will truly enjoy Austin Brown doing a solo of BRING HIM HOME from Les Mis . It is just him and a piano in a pure live set. You will see the real Austin. It will be under Austin Brown Bring it home. I promise you will truly enjoy it.
If you want a real live show then watch Sea Shanty Melody LIVE and you will see that they might just be better live than studio. Most live are done by someone in audience recording on their cell phones. This one was done professionally.
The acapella arrangement for this was done by Geoff Castelucci of another acapella group called VoicePlay. They are definitely worth checking out, too! Maybe start with their cover of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters, also arranged by Geoff. 😊
I don't know if anyone has explained this yet, but the guy in the dark plaid shirt and blue baseball cap is Chris Rupp. He is , I believe, second base, and the brother of the beatboxer, Adam Rupp. When he left the group some years ago, his part was taken up by Adam Chance, also second base, and you saw him in Man of Constant Sorrow, back row, left wearing the white shirt, black wool vest, and dark hat. He did the jaw harp sound using overtone technique.
You are in the perfect setting to react to their version of Hillbilly Bone. I saw them live in April and they are every bit as good live. The beat boxer, Adam Rupp, is better live, for some reason. It really is more of a party than a concert!
Check out Home Free’s videos. How great thou Art, go rest high on that mountain, delta Dawn with Brooke, so many and yes they are good live as they are in videos. Check out the live on Conan O’Brien, version of sound of silence by disturbed. You won’t regret watching any Home Free video. They can do anything, can you tell I am a home fry. So much music so little time.
Enjoyed your outdoors reaction!

Thanks so much. Glad you’re apart of the family! Talented bass singers like him are just impressive to me.
This collab was so awesome!! You can tell both groups had so much fun!!❤ You should check out the one with Kenny Rodgers, also if you haven’t done the ones with Don McLean.

This one makes my heart happy! Thank you for the Home Free reactions.
I don't remember details for HomeFree, but when The Oaks covered "Elvira" in 1981, they were the THIRD time that song had charted.
They are just as good live. Check out their sea shanty live
HomeFree did a live version of their original song "Catch Me If You Can" at Paste Studio in Atlanta.
It's on the Paste Magazine YT channel 12/4/2019.
And it's great!
