You’re probably going to feel embarrassed when you figure out that Austin Brown is the voice you were so impressed with. Didn’t he have such a baby face!?! If you check out some of Austin’s earlier solo work on his channel, you can see the shirt he’s wearing framed and hung on the wall in his music space. The Oak Ridge Boys are iconic and this song was a “crossover” (played both on rock and country stations). The ORB stated that they felt as if they were passing the baton to another generation.

This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oak Ridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.
Tim borrowed the previous arrangement from Geoff but then tweaked it to fit better with the Oak Ridge Boys.

The passing of the torch….Oak Ridge Boys to Home Free. All smiles, they were all enjoying this. Home Free often performs this live. I think you would really enjoy the Home Free collaboration with Kenny Rogers for Children Go Where I Send Thee. Thanks for a great reaction Nick, your reactions are always great and you have become a favorite of mine. Thank you Lori for recommending this one. Have a great day all!

That young man with the long hair, is a much younger Austin Brown of Home Free. He is such a baby face back then. To see him back then and to watch him now, seems like two different people, but that's him. The one who seems to have changed the least through the years is Rob. Love the reactions.

The Oak Ridge Boys were one of my favorites growing up in the 80's. The were formed in 1943 and have gone through many members. But in the mid 70's, they moved from Sothern Gospel to Country with primarily the same line up since that time frame. They have 17 number one songs on the Billboard charts.

At Christmas, check out “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” with Home Free, The Oak Ridge Boys and Jeffrey East.
Elvira was recorded with Columbia records. Home Free has been independent for over 5 years.
In 2020, HF ran an $200,000 IndieGogo campaign to produce a one hour Christmas special. This replaced their annual Christmas concert tour.
The Oak Ridge Boys were guests on the streamed show. So was the best selling country band from the 1980’s, Alabama.
Home Free has produced some excellent Christmas songs.
“Do You Hear What I Hear” and “O Holy Night” are great.
“Go Tell It on the Mountain” with Texas Hill is a country fav.
And their originals “Full of Cheer” and “Cold Hard Cash” and “Snow Globe” are worth a listen too.

Shows off their live talents and just their hilarious stage presence! Such a shame they don’t tour much now. Would love to see VP and HF do Elvira together that would absolutely slap!!! Austin/Eli/Cesar raising the roofs and Tim and Geoff bringing it to the basement and Adam and Layne playing battle drums 😂😂😂

Interesting, that young man with the high voice, and The Oak Ridge Boys t-shirt from a concert he added as a boy, is Austin Brown.
He’s been in all the Home Free videos you’ve reacted to. He sang lead in the second half of “Unchained Melody”.
“End of the Road”, “My Church”, or “Mayday” are good songs featuring Austin.

They guys in Home Free are Tim Foust bass, Rob Lundquist lead tenor (beard and glasses), Chris Rupp ( ball cap) the founder of the group and baritone, Adam Rupp beatboxer extraordinaire and Austin Brown sky high tenor (long curly hair). Growing up Tim always wanted to be Richard Sterban the bass from The Oak Ridge Boys and now he's singing with him. After this The Oak Ridge Boys became their mentors and have done many things with them. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

The Oak Ridge Boys are legendary. Their collaborations with Home Free are simply terrific - the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are amazing. They have another collaboration with Jeffrey East & the Oaks "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" that's just gorgeous. They've also appeared with them at the Grand Old Opry. Home Free's first 2 or 3 CDs they were under contract to Columbia - they bought out the contract around 2015 or 16 and have been independent since.

These 4 members of The Oaks have been together since the mid 70s, aside from the bearded one leaving for a short time, and returning. At the start of this year, Joe Bonsall, the guy with the amazing tenor voice, announced that he was being forced to retire, due to health reasons. He had been battling a slow onset of a muscular disease, that finally took its toll on him.

Speaking of fun, at some point go and check out VP doing _Elvira_ live (only phone footage, so the sound quality isn't great, but it's still worth experiencing). Brandon Turner has the better viewpoint and sound, Stacey Tee includes the bit where Geoff can't keep a straight face. HF also did this live in London when I saw them, and if you go to their community tab there's a livestream of the first three songs (much better than phone quality). Skip the first 8 mins, that's just before they come on. _Elvira_ is the third song, intro at 16m45s, song at 21m.
