Caution: Home Free is highly addictive. They sing everything from gospel to goofy to utterly heart-breaking. 3 of them are song writers to there are lots of originals. They tour 150-200 shows a year so there's also loads of live videos. Each has channel(s) of their own, with even more originals & covers. They've often collaborated with other singers & bands (The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Charlie Daniels, Don McLean, Kenny Rogers & Lee Greenwood among them). Bonus: You'll find your subscriptions rising exponentially with playing them. Love from a new Canadian subscriber.
@@bradclifton5248 My quibble is with the fries, not the band. With kids and wives now and still traveling in a bus with the crew, I’m surprised they’ve put 70 gigs on the 2023 calendar! That’s a lot of shows.
Teresa, I think Home free is a fabulous group and I enjoy a lot of their stuff. I play Auld Lang Syne every year. The best. I was making comment specifically to unchained melody. I have yet to hear anyone rival Bobby Hatfield. The song is so tempting to cover, but please people, try and resist, unless ya wanna do so in the shower when nobody is listening. 😘
Yes, welcome to Home Free, masters of all musical genres. Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces. Within this 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. They can do just about anything and they continue to grow and improve, yet they remain so humble. When they have featured guest artist, they support and allow their featured artists to shine. Several of them have their own channels and do some solo work. And just for fun Rob and Austin sing Opera. What else can I say? Their catalogue of work is quite large and continues to grow. I really enjoyed your reaction and thoughts on this song. It is interesting that this song has been your introduction to Home Free. For many people it is Man Of Constant Sorrow, or Ring Of Fire. It doesn't really matter where you start, you are in for an exciting journey and the Home Fries will be there for you all the way.
@@nickforell1they do How Great Thou Art that is simply the most beautiful I have ever heard. They did it just days before covid broke in Europe and had to come home. The scenery is breath taking they sang it by a church in the Alps.
@@nickforell1 You should check out their cover of the Johnny Cash hit Ring of Fire, featuring Avi from PTX... Tim Foust is the one that Avi went to for help getting his lower Octaves a little deeper... In the video, you have to watch at the end to see the student showing respect to the Master... Tim has a 5 octave range, and working on a 6th... he started out as a tenor in his younger years...
They way I would describe the big three of acapella in high school terms is Pentatonix are the popular kids. Highly polished and each know their role. Voiceplay are the theater kids...polished with highly entertaining dramaric videos. Home Free are the guys hanging out in the parking lot. Tight harmonies and simple videos. Each is unique and really can't be compared. Very possible to enjoy them all. As a group, I would say Home Free defies labels. They consistently switch up their singing style as well as who sings what. That flexibility makes their sound unique. While they lean country they can do pretty much anything from rap to opera and have. They don't take themselves too seriously, allowing us to see their funny side in many videos, but the music never suffers. With over 320 videos, there is always something you can truly enjoy.
People compare these acappella groups to high school. PTX are the popular kids. Voice Play are the theater kids. Home Free are the ones goofing off and hanging out outside. Home Free doesn’t sing only country, but it’s suits their homey, natural and easy style. These are the guys I want to party with! On the prison theme, I suggest their cover of “Folsom Prison Blues”. For something, original and recent, “Playing with Fire”. For a party, “Hillbilly Bone”. BTW: The group has had only one change since 2013. Cofounder Chris Rupp left in early 2016. Leading off here was Tim Foust. Austin Brown covered the tenor lead. Cofounder Adam Rupp does the beats. And on this one, Rob and Chance covered background. Have fun. 🐇🕳️ 🏠🍟
Home Free describes itself as a country acapella band, but they do many other things as well. You cannot pin them down to one genre. There is no lead singer. They either take different verses as they did here or pick the member whose voice best fits the song. Their videos range from the five of them just standing or sitting in one place, comedic plays on their songs which are fantastic, others are very dramatic and many of them include actors playing out a scene intermixed with the music. Their catalog on YT has around 300 songs. To start here are the guys and a recommendation that features each of them as the lead: First singer is Tim Foust. He is a bass with a five octave range and "plays" base guitar, featured on Ring of Fire (Sing-Off version). He also has his own YT channel. Second singer is Austin Brown. He is a high tenor with an incredibly strong and agile voice, featured on When a Man Loves a Woman. He also has his own YT channel and he did a solo version of Unchained Melody with guitar accompaniment that has 14 million views. Singer with beard is Rob Lundquist. He is a tenor with a smooth voice with a lot of soul, featured on End of the Road. Singer in the same jail cell with the knit cap is Adam Chance. He is technically a baritone, but can easily sing bass or tenor, featured on Cover Me Up. And last, but not least, is beatboxer extraordinaire Adam Rupp. There is no sound he cannot make. Check out one of his "drum solos." That's just the beginning. Welcome to the Home Free Rabbit Hole.
Welcome to Home Free rabbit hole. The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They are the only country A Capella ( all vocals no instruments)group but they can honestly sing any genre and they do As you know they won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys. Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire -Tenor can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonica (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).Co founder from Mankato Minnesota. Rob Lundquist :Lead tenor(beard and glasses) very soulful voice from Minneapolis,Minnesota Tim Foust :Bass (had long dark hair now short with grey ) 5+ octave range can go so low he blows speakers or sky high from Nederland,Texas Austin.Brown:High Tenor ( Long wavy hair ) voice of an angel from Tifton Georgia. Adam Chance(Aka Chance):Baritone/Bass deep, rich voice(Does the juice harp sound in Man Of Constant Sorrow) has short dark hair short beard from Baldwin County,Alabama.Replaced Chris Rupp ( Adams Brother and co founder in 2016) They have collaborated with many singers and legends Don McLean:American Pie Oak Ridge Boys:Elvira Kenny Rodgers:Children Go Where I Send Thee (Please watch the end message) Billy Gilman:One Voice Alabama:Christmas In Dixie Mark Wills:Don’t Laugh At Me ( important message at the end ) Lee Greenwood & US Airforce Band:God Bless The USA Brooke Eden:Delta Dawn Travis Collins & Amy Sheppard: The Horses Any many more. They have 3 amazing songwriters in the group so they have a very large playlist of covers and Original songs Go Rest High On That Mountain End of the Road: Boyz 2 Men cover When A Loves A Woman Dive Bar Saints (Original) Helplessly Hoping (5 part harmony) Unchained Melody Listen To The Music Can’t Outrun You One Man Band Brothers In Arms Stargazer Trilogy( All Originals written by Austin) Give Me A Sign ( Chapter 1) Stargazer Lilies( Chapter 2) MR (Chapter 3) Skull And Bones ( original written by Chance for Ubisoft new video game Skull And Bones) Might As Well Be Me ( Original) Playing With Fire ( Original) Remember My Name (Original) Mayday(DON’T WATCH TILL YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE GROUP AND THEIR RANGES ) There's not a song that you pick from their 300+ catalog that is bad I haven't found one yet. They are just funny, down to earth, humble nice guys. They are the best A Cappella group there is Sorry for the long read
Home free are the most relatable of the acca groups. Down to earth. Outlandish talent. Funny as all get out sometimes. Serious songs make reactors cry. Tim Foust the bass has 5 octive range. Austin Brown their high.tenor has one of the best voices out there right now. His voice is AMAZING . We Home Fries will educate you as you go along. Welcome to Homefree. This is a special day for you. I'm being very serious.
The do-wop style and prison setting of this one reflect the original version of Unchained Melody which was written for a prison movie in the 50s. Avi Kaplan, Tim Foust (the first singer here) and Geoff Castelluci are the premier bass singers in acapella today. They all are basso profundo singers with incredible range up to tenor. You are correct on their style of video and their style of music. They specialize in subtle in the music. They aren't showy. They do what the sing needs and don't overshadow the song with the singers. When they won the Sing-Off the year after Pentatonix won it, they got a bit of grief because they didn't have a lot of choreography. They have kind of leaned into that characterization since. You will get three types of videos from Home Free. Serious songs they find a picturesque spot and just stand there and sing (How Great Thou Art, Brothers in Arms, etc.). Fun songs usually involve a cookout (Land of the Free, Hillbilly Bone, etc.) And some songs get funny and theatrical videos that make it hard to pay attention to the song (Brother, Butts Medley, Working for a Living, etc.)
Home Free has no designated lead singer. They choose the lead according to the song. The lead singer in this, Tim Foust is a bass with a 5 octave range. He can blow speakers with his low notes and sing tenor along with Austin Brown (the other lead singer) and Rob Lundquist (full beard and glasses). The other singer is Adam Chance (known as Chance) who sings bass to tenor (4 octave range). Their beatboxer is Adam Rupp who also sings tenor when not beatboxing. They have a fexibility to perform many genres, and they do. Welcome to Home Fry country. Enjoy the trip.
The tenor here, Austin Brown, dropped a solo version even earlier than this one from Home Free. Just him singing in his living room with some guitar accompaniment. 🫠
Home Free is the best out there, as far as I’m concerned. I have been following them since February 2016 when I stumbled upon their Sing Off videos. I don’t listen to any other acapella groups. You have just dipped your toe into the huge rabbits hole of Home Free. It is wide, deep and varied…it never gets old. They run the gamut of genres…..country, R&B, oldies, gospel. They are serious, very patriotic, funny, goofy, sentimental. Welcome! The bass is Tim Foust, five octave range…..he has broken sound systems with his earth shaking low notes. No need to even attempt comparing him to the other, they are all different. New subscriber for more Home Free!
New sub. Home Free is phenomenal! They are 5 of the most talented guys in music today. And they do all genres of music. They love what they do and love their fans. And we love them right back! Whether you listen to their more serious songs or their humorous songs the vocals and vocal percussion and harmonies are on point. Tim Foust is their bass. But he has a 5 octave range. To hear him lead in his low bass give their cover of Dire Straits Brothers in Arms a listen. Their 1st tenor is Austin Brown. To hear his beautiful lead check out their cover of Percy Sledge's When a man loves a woman (which was one of their quarentine videos social distancing). Their 2nd tenor is Rob Lundquist. To hear his smooth, silky lead check out their cover of Boys 2Men's End of the Road. Their baritone/bass is Adam Chance (us Home Fries, Home Free fans , call him Chance. To hear his honey sweet voice listen to Cover me up. And lastly but certainly not least is their beatboxer/vocal percussionist is Adam Rupp. IMO he is the best at what he does. We call him the human drum kit. He also perfectly replicates the harmonica. the nomonica. He is amazing in every song. Check out their cover of the Doobie Brothers classic Listen to the Music! Welcome to your Home Free journey! Thank you for your reaction!
Been following these guys for over 7 years now. They are the best in the business. Been to a few concerts... excuse me "parties" per Tim. They are truly the most humble and down to earth men. Oh, new sub ...
Welcome to Home Free! They have so many great songs you need to check out! When a man loves a woman showcases Austin’s high notes and Man of constant sorrow will give you a taste of all there talents! Great reaction! Hope to see more Home Free for this new subscriber.
I love this group so much ! You should react to their 'Brothers in Arms', 'Helplessly Hoping', ' The Butts Remix', 'When a Man Loves a Woman' and 'The End of the Road'. So awesome !
Oh are you in for a treat. These guys' talent is "off the chart" in so many ways. Between the five of them, they can come up with 2 Bass (Earth shattering & speaker blowing), 3 Supple Baritone, 5 Gorgeous Tenors, 2.5 High Tenors, 5 Beatboxers (their main one is a freak of nature), all of which can accompany and blend with each other flawlessly. All genres, opera to pop to r&b to rock to gospel but lean a little country. These guys love what they do and THEY HAVE FUN. Get to know them by name/voice quickly as there are countless easter eggs out there where each one will astonish from time to time. DEEP rabbit hole - you can't go wrong. SUBBD
Very happy you found Home Free. A great bunch of guys. You have some Home Fries add a lot of good information about the guys and some of their songs. Just one extra, is Chris Rupp, brother to Adam Rupp the beatboxer. Chris and Adam were the beginning of the group. Chris will wear a cap or cowboy hat. He left to go out on his own and is doing well. (Adam Chance took his place). That should help when you see Chris in the group. Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks
@@nickforell1 Oh please please please. It’s one of my favorites from them. (Even though there are a few too many oo oo’) Tim starts. Adam is thumping. Chance has the cap. Rob is the big teddy bear with glasses. Austin is uncharacteristically on BV.
I love seeing people’s reactions to HF too!! You can’t hold in the “woah’s” huge grins, eyes wide open, lip biting, lost for words reactions & it’s a joy to see 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I really enjoyed your reaction. I too am a huge a cappella fan. You mentioned that you recently went down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. Well, with Home Free, there's an equally extensive rabbit hole. They lean country, but can sing anything. If you want country, there's Take Me Home Country Roads, Man of Constant Sorrow or Ring of Fire (featuring Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix), for oldies, When a Man Loves a Woman, American Pie (featuring Don McLean), Crazy, and Elvira (performed with the Oak Ridge Boys), for Gospel, How Great Thou Art, for R&B, End of the Road, for patriotic God Bless the USA and Go Rest High on That Mountain and for comedy, Champagne Tastes on a Beer Budget (with a very brief Avi Kaplan cameo,) and The Butts Remix/Medley. Those suggestions don't even scratch the surface of their repertoire. As an a cappella fan, you should also know about two other phenomenal groups, VoicePlay and Voctave. VoicePlay is probably the most theatrical of the groups. As a start, check out their cover of Oogie Boogie's Song from the movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. A good place to start with Voctave, a larger group with no beatboxer, is their Disney Love Medley which features Kirsten Maldonado from Pentatonix. The interesting thing about all of these groups is that they all know and respect each other. The bass of VoicePlay arranged Elvira for Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys. VoicePlay's beatboxer arranged Home Free's Butts Remix/Medley. You often find members of one group freatured in songs by the others. Enjoy the a cappella journey. I look forward to many more of your reactions.
I get goosebumps every time I hear this. Austin Brown is the tenor/ high tenor, Tim Foust is the Bass. He has a 5 octave range. He helped teach Geoff Castellucci how to sing low bass. The two in the one cell is Rob Lundquist with the beard and glasses he is the 2nd tenor and Adam Chance is the baritone and sometimes bass when Tim is singing lead. The last one standing in his cell is Adam Rupp. Founder of the band and he is a champion beatboxer. If you want to hear Austin Browns voice up front, check out him singing this song solo and with Home Free When a Man Loves a Woman. If you want to hear Tim's 5 octave range check out his solo Will You Still Love MeTomorrow/Stay. Then continue down the rabbit hole with the home free songs but save "Mayday" for after you have heard some more of their songs.
Unchained Melody is from the 1950s movie "Unchained." It has been recorded by many artists over the decades, with Hatfield's cover being only one. I bought the sheet music in 1955, and still play it occasionally. It is a classic, and its fame should not be attributed to any one performer, in my opinion. Meanwhile, Home Free is my personal favorite of the 3 fantastic groups you are getting to know. It formed in 2000, winning the Sing Off the season after PTX won, and the same year VP competed. They were the first group to highlight the bass with solos. Tim has since earned legendary status. But I don't like to compare the groups. Apples and oranges...all great! And I loved your reaction and comments!
Welcome to Home Free. They sing all genre's but are most comfortable in the folk/country realm. They also sing a lot of originals. Chance (the baritone and occasional bass of the group) recently was commissioned by game company Ubisoft to write a theme song for their new game "Skull & Bones"....it's an awesome song. I prefer the live version over the lyric version.
There are obviously exceptions, but most Home Free videos are 5 guys standing around somewhere. Who sings lead for a specific song varies on the song, some with only one lead, some songs they divide up. Whatever is the best fit. They have both these very sober songs as well as a comedic side. Here are some recs depending what you are looking for They have many great songs to react to, here are some examples Man of Constant Sorrow (A lot of people start here) Helplessly Hoping One Man Band Never gonna give you up Folsom Prison Blues The Gambler How great Thou Art Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks And here some recs for specific singers Austin Brown (high tenor) - skinny guy When a Man loves a woman Crazy Moonshine Meet in the middle Rob Lundquist (tenor) - teddy bear with glasses Blue Ain't your color End of the Road Spaceship 9 to 5 Adam Chance (bass/bariton) - joined 2016, goes by Chance Some Girls Do Cover Me Up Dive Bar Saints I can't outrun you Tim Foust (bass) - longer dark hair or shorter gray hair Hillbilly Bone Champagne Taste (on a beer budget) Brothers in Arms Everybody walkin' this land
You have just completed the trifecta of a cappella. Voiceplay are the jesters, PTX is the Queen!, these guys are the King! This song doesn’t even come close to what you will hear from Home Free. Never a disappointment, always fresh and unique! You will have to remind yourself time and time again that you aren’t hearing a full band with instruments. Every genre, hammered to perfection.
Interesting comparison. I think of PTX as Champagne. VP as a mixologist’s current favorite cocktail. And HF as craft beer. Only one of those I can drink every day. 🏠🍟
You’re going to find Home Free is so versatile in their music. The one thing most people really love about them is the fact they have such a great sense of humor.
Welcome to the fabulous world of Home Free! They are my favorite a cappella group. They are made up of 5 of the most talented & humble guys. They are known for their tight harmonies, having one of the best bass singers with a 5 octave range (Tim Foust) & Adam Rupp's incredible vocal percussion. They do awesome covers of songs but also write a lot of original songs (3 of them are songwriters). Hope you check out more of them. Most people start out with "Man Of Constant Sorrow". The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. They added an old school doo-wop feel to it. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained".
The Sing-Off, a show that pitted different acapella groups in competition with judges to find the best, ran only 5 seasons, but it really boosted PTX and Home Free to really being known. PTX won the 3rd season of competition and Home Free won in the 4th season of competition and to me, they are the best out there. Please check out more Home Free. They have many many songs/vids on their page, they even have a couple of them that Avi participated in the videos with them. Tim Foust is Home Free's bass and is friends with Avi.
**WELCOME TO HOME FREE** Nick.. all A Capella groups are simple awesome as they simply amaze me! Home Free is simply NEXT LEVEL.. the fan base (AKA HOME FRIES) will feed you the songs or check out their RUclips site! Welcome to the rabbit hole... peace.
Just subbed to enjoy your Home Free journey. I hope someone requests their DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR. I love the visuals of that video as much as the vocals. You will also enjoy the videos for HF Helplessly Hoping, Crazy and Playing with Fire. Beautiful visuals.
Seriously, one could make a career out of Home Free's play list. They do covers (upgrades), originals and collaborations all across the board. Only thing is, hold off on listening to "Mayday" until you learn more about their sound. The cool thing is they rotate the Lead throughout the group. They are all Lead Singers. On top of all that, they are genuinely great guys and have a lot of fun doing their thing.
New sub - great reaction. All the groups are very talented, but Home Free is my absolute favorite a cappella/vocal band. Their blend is simply unmatched. Most new reactors start down the rabbit hole with "Man of Constant Sorrow". It's just a very good starting point for what the boys can do. Looking forward to more. Btw, fans of Home Free are called home fries ------> 🍟Fantastic request Jamie. Thanks Nick.
Hi Denise...I love all these acapella groups, and you noted that Home Free is your absolute favorite which of course, is a personal taste that all fans have that right. However, as a favorite of Pentatoniix, I'm just as to why they are your favorite vs. others ?? Note - not meant to change anyone's opinion...just curious.😀
@@nickerpsg1 Stylistically I prefer Home Free. Their arrangements are impeccable and what they produce sounds closest to what you hear on the radio in my opinion. It's very easy when listening to Home Free to forget that you aren't listening to a band with instruments. Also, as I mentioned already, for me, their blend is second to none. It also doesn't hurt that they are extremely funny - huge goofballs. 😁
@@nickerpsg1I would also say HF is my absolute favorite. While I recognize the talent of the other groups, they just seem too over the top and theatrical. HF just seems like five regular guys who just happen to be amazing singers. They make me feel good.
You’ve caught their more serious side. I saw one post with several songs for different reasons. You’re right, it is the nature of the song. It is just what you said it is! Please don’t compare the groups. They are each unique, which is why they are all so popular. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. I’ll be waiting for the next.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. It shouldn't take many more viewings to make you a proper Home Fry like the rest of us. Once the seasons get more Christmassy, I insist you look at their Snow Globe, an original.
Tim is a natural bass, started out as a tenor in school. He also has a 5 plus range. A great doowhop album with him doing all the vocals, this groups in unbelievable. Try Rob.and Austin's doing Nessum Dorma. They've collaboration with many big names. Welcome, new sub.
A wonderfully sung and performed cover of Home Free. With their own twist to it, but still keeping the respect for the original. The leads, the harmonies, the Doo-wop, the bass, everything just so good. Also wonderful how they bring back the real story. Beautifully portrayed in black and white and the shadow on the wall of the inhuman Adam
Austin Brown (the tenor in this song) sings his own version of this song on his channel. You really need to check it out. I love Home Free's version also. Home Free won the "Sing Off" a year or two after Pentatonix won.
The Home Fries will be flocking to you if you react to Home Free. They are my FAVORITE group, and I don't just mean my favorite acapella group. They are just ... perfect. Perfectly fantastic singers. Perfectly goofy at times. They know how to have as much fun as well as they know how to sing.
Yes, that was my first reaction to their voices as well - so rich and full and able to convey all the emotion! Enjoyed your reaction, thank you for covering Home Free!
Home Free IS special. You will not be disappointed. Their individual talent is ever so impressive, but their collective is off the charts. Not only in how they sing, but also they tell a story like no other. Welcome to the family!
Well ... welcome to the magic surprise gift box that is Home Free - doesn't matter what song you listen to, they are top notch!! All fantastic artists and you'll see many many styles if you continue this rabbit hole!! I'll be here to watch!
We are the Home Fries.... Whatever you do, hold off on hearing Mayday. Try Man of Constant Sorrow, Folsom Prison Blues, When A Man loves A Woman, Ring of Fire, The Butts Remix, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget,
Great reaction. Yes I subbed. 🎶💕 All 4 guys have great voices, each different, which gives them a great variety of songs they can take on. Even Adam the beat boxer has a beautiful voice and sings when they need that harmonized wall of sound. If you like the “Just me and the Music” try HF’s Helplessly Hoping. No matter how many times I listen to it, I am amazed at their 5 part, pure harmony.
There it is! That Home Free smile! Thanks for your reaction and have fun going down this rabbit hole-there will be a ba-zillion Home Fries following your journey.😊
Ov gotten caught at 62 at a stop light just dancing in my car seat and singing at the top of my lungs to the Butt song. It's was so embarrassing but still haven't stopped dancing in my sest singing the songs from Home Free. Lol. They are so versatile in their songs from serious to happy I sad to unbelievable laughter. One of my favorites is the church squirrel song because it fits in to some of the church I attended through the years be Baptist.
This song is the way they do things. Keep things simple, feel good vibe, but great harmony. There B-Boxer is a several time world champion. You will think he swallowed a drum set. They do all types of music. Man of constant Sorry, End of the Road, Blue Ain't your Color, Listen to the Music, 7 Bridges, How Great thou Art, Mary did you Know, Brothers in Arms(a lot of bass and wonderful harmony), Delta Dawn, Skull and Bones(they wrote and sang for the same name video game), and a new one they just wrote and released"Playing with Fire". No matter what song you pick you will love and be blown away and have a hard time remembering they are using there voices for all background.
Just subscribed. Great reaction! Home Free is just wonderful. They will surprise you with every song and video. Enjoy the journey! I'll enjoy watching your discovery.
Thank you for reacting to Home Free 🎉 loved watching your reaction because I knew you’d appreciate them so much! Their control, range, harmonies, beat boxing, purity, depth…………..oh I could go on & on……they are all phenomenal & so versatile & everyone brings such a special something to each & every vocal!!! I’ve been down the HF rabbit hole for years & show no signs of climbing out of it. I hope you keep listening to them & react to more of their songs & covers because they’re in a league of their own. If I had to direct you towards any songs in particular I’d have to say………all of them! Lol. Ok my stand outs are Cover me up (Chance’s voice is like smooth chocolate) When a man loves a woman (Austin’s range 😲) Ring of fire (Tim & Avi Kaplin are wow!) Mayday (definitely don’t listen to this until you’ve heard quite a few of their songs, it will enhance you appreciation of them) The Gambler Go rest high on that mountain Brothers in Arms Man of constant sorrow Colder Weather Fun ones are - Folsom Prison Blues, 9-5, Sea Shanty Medley Enjoy the rabbit hole 🐰🙌🏻
Just subbed for more Home Free! You can't pick a bad song... but try their cover of Man of Constant Sorrow or Listen to the Music (Doobie Brothers cover). You'll never be disappointed! Great reaction! 😊
Home Free is another rabbit hole to jump down. The bass is Tim Foust who has done some great solo work as well as a superb collab with Peter Hollens, "Misty Mountains".
In my almost 70 years I’ve always appreciated harmony. I’ve heard it in religious music, country music and a cappella. You have to admit it really shines in a cappella. Nick, I don’t subscribe to all reactors. Those I do subscribe to are the ones that appreciate the music a cappella creates and adds to the joy I feel from it by actually pointing out things I may have missed no matter how many times I’ve heard a song. You do that. You make a song a new special. I hope that makes sense. Home Free is a special band. They are - to me - as special as PTX and VoicePlay in a way of their own. I can’t compare because they are each unique. You know - you can’t compare apples and oranges. So dig in and enjoy what music is about. I look forward to more of your reactions to each of the a cappella groups.
The different top acapella groups are all amazing. They all offer something different. Home Free is my favorite but I love them all and have bought music from them all.
I've been a subscriber to your channel for ages - I can't even remember what brought me to you; and the fact that you have now reacted to my favourite band makes me so happy! These guys are so talented, regardless of genre, style, cover or orignial. I hope you check out tons more!
I enjoyed your responses to this. It seemed you were delighted with what you were hearing, and was delighted as well. I look forward to more. Subbing for Home Free
Woo Hoo Home Free!!!! This is going to be fun too. Prepare to have your mind blown once again. For sure all the different acapella groups have their own flavor. They're all fabulous in their own different way and that's why I don't really choose favorites because they can't be compared. Thanks for a great reaction. I LOL'd when you said "Ok, that's not fair!" LOLOL
Home Free's approach is not to highlight their vocal gymnastics, but to make the song sound the best. They are truly a vocal band and pride themselves on their full sound. They have hundreds of songs in their catalog and they seem to be all wonderful. Pick your favorites and enjoy. (My fav is Take Me Home Country Roads). New subscriber to watch your journey.
You need to check out Tim (the bass) and Avi with the rest of Home Free do Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and then after hearing several of the band's other songs, including "Man of Constant Sorrow", watch their cover of Cam's "Mayday". This is a group that will blow you away in whatever they do.
Home Free is super talented, with 4 fantastic vocalists (any of which can sing lead), and an incredible percussionist (who can sing a lovely tenor himself). They sing many styles, and often incorporate humor into their songs and videos.
Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole 🕳. Home Free does all genres of music but is noted mostly for Country, This group is simple when it comes to videos. They did HOW GREAT THOU ART in the Austrian Alps but they were on tour in Europe and took advantage of their location. They have a lot of funny videos, they even did a ot of videos separately because of covid. They set up some of their homes to do vocals and their better halves video them from phones. Buckle up and enjoy this ride. Suggestions. Show off Beatboxer Adam Rupp Man of Constant Sorrow, covid hmmm Down To The Honky-tonk, Meet In The Middle, or When A Man Loves A Woman. For only vocals How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, or High On That Mountain. Funny videos Brother, This is How We Roll, Butts Medley/Remix.
New viewer here and just subscribed. This is going to be fun to watch you discover this Outstanding vocal band Home Free. There are so many fabulous songs to pick from, theie newest album has 12 originals out of 14 songs. Two of my favorites are "Playing with Fire" and "Remember my Name" would love for you to hear either of those.
New sub for more Home Free! I’m so glad that you said each of the acapella groups offer something different; too many reactors try to rank them which is silly, they are all great so it becomes personal preference. I prefer Home Free because they are real and down to earth people that touch your soul with their music. IMO their 5 part harmonies are unmatched and their originals are awesome and should probably be on the radio. You have many suggestions from many Home Fries already so I’ll just say enjoy the ride! Thanks for a great reaction!
Didn't want it to end did you. Me I'm a Home Fry. I have never seen a bad video or heard n bad rendition or one of their origional songs. Check out their cover of End of the Road.
These are some songs that you might be interested in: Ring of Fire featuring Avi Kaplan Folsom Prison Blues which has the prison theme that you like. Others will no doubt give you other suggestions.
This song was originally written in 1955 for the prison movie Unchained. Probably the best well-known version is Bobby Hatfield from the Righteous Brothers in 1965. It was featured in the movie Ghost
There are many reasons why I love Home Free. A big one for me is they are even better live. They are just as smooth and flawless singing in person. Not only myself, but many people I have brought with to a live concert. We thought we new how good they are, we weren’t even remotely close.
Tim Foust the bass from Home Free was the one who helped Geoff Castelucci be able to hit his lower notes. The two groups competed on the Sing Off together and have had some members collaborate in various projects over the years since. The acappella groups from the Sing Off have been known to work together with Avi Kaplan the original bass from Pentatonix doing Ring of Fire with Home Free in their earlier days it seems to be a pretty tight knit community. (Not necessarily just from the Sing Off)
Home Free is an extraordinary group - collectively and individually. Listening to them is cathartic. Please continue giving your perspective on their songs. You manage to combine emotional reaction with enlightening musical knowledge.
Tim (Foust), Avi, and Geoff are friends and supporters.
LOL Just wait til he catches their "Ring of Fire," "Man of Constant Sorrow," and "Misty Mountains." Among the rest of their top tier presentations.
Gospel to Goofy is the perfect description.
Oh I’m so so in ❤

My quibble is with the fries, not the band.
Oh man .! Are you in for a ride.!
Beautifully written…
Tim, I can totally see why they have such a following
@@nethanelmasters5170 They did it way before Covid.
Have fun.

To start here are the guys and a recommendation that features each of them as the lead:
First singer is Tim Foust.
Check out one of his "drum solos."
That's just the beginning. Welcome to the Home Free Rabbit Hole.

Sorry for the long read
Home free are the most relatable of the acca groups. Down to earth. Outlandish talent. Funny as all get out sometimes. Serious songs make reactors cry. Tim Foust the bass has 5 octive range. Austin Brown their high.tenor has one of the best voices out there right now. His voice is AMAZING . We Home Fries will educate you as you go along. Welcome to Homefree. This is a special day for you. I'm being very serious.
Thank you for the education
@@nickforell1 I should have said guide you in HomeFree particulars. That sounded pretty high handed. .. what I said. Sorry. 😚
I look forward to watching your future reactions to other Home Free performances! Thanks for sharing!
They are true artists. Great singers. Should also try Crazy, really beautiful.
“Crazy” is another doo wop from them, though I like “Blue Ain’t Your Color” a smidge more.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - The Sing Off was the most underrated music competition show ever.
@darthbek totally!
Absolutely!! I loved every single season!!
I thought Tim has a nine octave range. I could be mistaken.
@@deanm375He has a 5 octave bass profundo range, working on a 6th.
Home Free is the best of the best of the best!! Tim, Austin, Chance, Adam and Rob!! Seeing them live nxt month!! Subbed for more HF!!!
Don’t compare! Just enjoy! Lots more to come.🥰
The tenor here, Austin Brown, dropped a solo version even earlier than this one from Home Free.
They are definitely reigned in. Not glitzy.

Thanks
I think you would like "In The Blood". Home Free's cover of the John Mayer song is also phenomenal.

Yay! A Home Free newbie! I get to see them brand new again through your eyes, they are so talented and so much fun!
That’s exactly why I got sucked into watching reactions a few years back. Fresh eyes and ears.
I love seeing people’s reactions to HF too!! You can’t hold in the “woah’s” huge grins, eyes wide open, lip biting, lost for words reactions & it’s a joy to see 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Yay! Thank you!
Playing with Fire is one of HomeFree's most recent original works. You will really enjoy that,I promise.
Tim also helped Avi with his bass. Scott from PTX said so in an interview that I read.
@@Indigo_moonread that as well. Tim’s just an all around great guy. Funny. Down to earth and well…ya. Lol
Thank you for the info on them. Blown away
Be prepared to fall in love with this group! They are the best out there!
I would check out their original music as well as their covers. Road Sweet Road, The Stargazer Trilogy, and so forth
There are obviously exceptions, but most Home Free videos are 5 guys standing around somewhere. Who sings lead for a specific song varies on the song, some with only one lead, some songs they divide up. Whatever is the best fit. They have both these very sober songs as well as a comedic side.

You need to do their cover of 'Listen To The Music'. It's amazing.
New sub - great reaction. All the groups are very talented, but Home Free is my absolute favorite a cappella/vocal band. Their blend is simply unmatched. @@nickerpsg1 Stylistically I prefer Home Free. Their arrangements are impeccable and what they produce sounds closest to what you hear on the radio in my opinion. It also doesn't hurt that they are extremely funny - huge goofballs. 😁

Home Free IS special. You will not be disappointed. Their individual talent is ever so impressive, but their collective is off the charts. Not only in how they sing, but also they tell a story like no other. Welcome to the family!
They really compliment each other. This is real skill enjoyed this version. There are room for 2 acapella groups.😅😅😅😅
Well ... welcome to the magic surprise gift box that is Home Free - doesn't matter what song you listen to, they are top notch!! All fantastic artists and you'll see many many styles if you continue this rabbit hole!! I'll be here to watch!
Great reaction! Subbed for more Home Free - I hope you will go down the rabbit hole. Home Fries will follow you!
Can't wait!
New Sub! Us Home Fries love seeing reactors discovering our boys, I’m here for all of it! Great reaction!
Awesome! Thank you!
Lots of the credit for a capella groups exposure around that time goes to The Sing Off!
I've been waiting for you to review home free
There is just something so pure in Helplessly Hoping (HomeFree and CS&N) It really is just one of those songs...
Check out their rendition of Folsom Prison Blues.
Been waiting soooooo patiently. Gonna be a journey, my guy.
Can't wait!
There it is! That Home Free smile! Thanks for your reaction and have fun going down this rabbit hole-there will be a ba-zillion Home Fries following your journey.😊
Yes, the smile couldn’t be helped
I just joined your channel because I can’t wait to watch you go down the Home Free rabbit hole.
This is a rabbit hole you will enjoy. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I look forward to your journey!!!
Yes! Thank you!
Lol.
Ok my stand outs are
Cover me up (Chance’s voice is like smooth chocolate)
When a man loves a woman (Austin’s range 😲)
Ring of fire (Tim & Avi Kaplin are wow!)
Mayday (definitely don’t listen to this until you’ve heard quite a few of their songs, it will enhance you appreciation of them)
The Gambler
Go rest high on that mountain
Brothers in Arms
Man of constant sorrow
Colder Weather
Fun ones are - Folsom Prison Blues, 9-5, Sea Shanty Medley
Enjoy the rabbit hole 🐰🙌🏻
Well thank you Jan, that means a lot!
The Nylons acapella group hit it big time back in 1982 with their version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "So Happy Together" (1987) amongst others.
I SO CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR REACTION WHEN YOU WATCH THEM SING MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW!!! 😊
I enjoyed your responses to this. It seemed you were delighted with what you were hearing, and was delighted as well. I look forward to more. Subbing for Home Free
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Terri!
Great reaction. Subbed for more Home Free 😁
Awesome thank you!
Didn't want it to end did you. Me I'm a Home Fry. I have never seen a bad video or heard n bad rendition or one of their origional songs. Check out their cover of End of the Road.

This song was originally written in 1955 for the prison movie Unchained. Probably the best well-known version is Bobby Hatfield from the Righteous Brothers in 1965. It was featured in the movie Ghost
Elvis did a good one too.
omg / They take your breath away
