Yes, Avi was with Pentatonix but now has a great solo career that is definitely worth checking out. He's a terrific songwriter.

Speaking of Avi Kaplan, he left Pentatonix in September 2017 for various reasons, including his mother's serious illness and tour burnout. His separation contract kept him from performing for almost 2 years, and when that expired, he released the first of many original songs, "Change on the Rise". Avi is currently on a 3rd US tour (with European tour coming in September), and since you liked his bass in "Ring of Fire", I'm sure you'll appreciate this video shot by an audience member at his May 18, 2024 concert in Atlanta. He uses the first verse of "Change on the Rise" as an intro/lead-in to one of my favorite songs of his, "Get Down". But he does "Change" at least an octave lower than the original recording, putting his opera basso profundo training to excellent use, rumbling both drinks and the audience's bodies with his clear, rich tone. and that super deep bass distorts the person's phone when he does a vocal for looping the chorus. The phone couldn't handle his voice (and he'd been known to blow speakers when he was with PTX). As you'll see, Avi does use instruments now. ruclips.net/video/dORvn7dJyQU/видео.html

Yep, that’s Tim Foust (of Home Free) singing that last note. When live his voice goes through you and kind of rattles you. He’s got a 5 octave range so not only can he go low he can sing high as well. He’s also a songwriter as are 2 other members of the group. When they were on the Sing Off they were told by the judges to mix it up so they went with a kind of reggae sound. Tim went even lower on the Sing Off and they just redid the song and Tim went pretty low in that one too. Tim collaborates with Peter Hollens (another a cappella singer) and they made an album but you might want to listen but Misty Mountains from the Hobbit is great!! Good one Josh!😍

You can watch them on RUclips, just do a search for Home Free Sing Off. I recommend watching the ones that include the judges comments. I promise you'll enjoy it.

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion. Home Free have just done a remake of this song for the 10 year anniversary.

I have always thought Avi would make a great Southern Gospel Bass.
He is actually a classically/operatically trained Basso Profundo but does not lean
    toward operatic singing.
He was with PTX for 6 years and left in 2017 to become a solo artist and also writes most of his own music.

If you want Bass you should try Home Free's version of Brothers in arms. In Blue ain't your color the bass is rumbling.
Or Hooked on a feeling by the Bass Gang featuring Tim Foust (who's the bass of Home Free (the one who did that low, sustained note at the end of this one)).

I'm not sure I shared this with you but I try to update all new reviewers/reactors with this lil cheat-sheet i \myself have "borrowed"....
The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. They are the only country A Capella ( all vocals no instruments)group but they are honestly do so so much more than just country music they can sing any genre and they do. There is no Lead singer in the group. They each ( except Adam )sing the song and who’s ever voice or voices sound right for the song gets the lead unless is a bass/ baritone song then that’s Tim or Chance. A lot of time they each have a part in the song. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys. Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire ( 41) can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonica (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).Co founder from Mankato Minnesota. Rob Lundquist :Lead tenor(beard and glasses) ( 40 )very soulful voice and master whistler from Minneapolis, Minnesota Tim Foust :Bass (had long dark hair now short with grey ) ( 42 ) 5+ octave range can go so low he blows speakers or sky high from Nederland, Texas Austin Brown: High Tenor ( Long wavy hair )( 37 ) voice of an angel from Tifton Georgia. Adam Chance(Aka Chance):Baritone/Bass ( 39 ) deep, rich voice(Does the juice harp sound in Man Of Constant Sorrow) has short dark hair short beard from Baldwin County, Alabama. Replaced Chris Rupp ( Adams Brother and co founder in 2016) They have collaborated with many singers and legends Don McLean: American Pie Oak Ridge Boys: Elvira Kenny Rodgers: Children Go Where I Send Thee (Please watch the end message) Billy Gilman: One Voice Alabama: Christmas In Dixie Mark Wills: Don’t Laugh At Me ( important message at the end ) Lee Greenwood & US Airforce Band: God Bless The USA Any many more. They have 3 amazing songwriters in the group Tim, Austin and Chance So they have a very large playlist of covers and original songs End of the Road (Boyz 2 Men cover ) When A Loves A Woman Helplessly Hoping (5 part harmony masterpiece ) Unchained Melody Butts Medley/ Remix Listen To The Music Can’t Outrun You Brothers In Arms Stargazer Trilogy( All Originals written by Austin) Give Me A Sign ( Chapter 1) Stargazer Lilies( Chapter 2) MR (Chapter 3) Skull And Bones ( original written by Chance for Ubisoft new video game Skull And Bones) Might As Well Be Me ( Original) Playing With Fire ( Original) Remember My Name (Original) Oh Pretty Woman Life Is A Highway Stand By Me Cruise I Want Crazy Christmas In LA ( Newest Release Mayday(DON’T WATCH TILL YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE GROUP AND THEIR RANGES ) There's not a song that you pick from their 200+ catalog that is bad I haven't found one yet. They are just funny, down to earth, humble really nice guys. They are the best A Cappella group there is IMO Sorry for the long read
