Well of course, Tusk act 4 with infinite spin can pierce space time, making it so you can never escape it unless Johnny creates another spin in the opposite direction to cancel it out. It's pretty much on par with other main jojo stands in terms of how ridiculously op it can get. I really wish if Araki does another part that he explores act stands for his next mc. It was so satisfying to see Johnny and his stand start off as this weak man in a dangerous world grow into a person capable of literally standing on his own two feet against all odds. That and how his stand started off kind of weak compared to many other stands, then gets more op over time until it pretty much breaks the universe over its knee.
Hung Tang Watch as JoJolion has an enemy spin user and Soft & Wet remove the friction from the Spin making it useless. Would not put it past Araki to do that.
Speak Evil Reminder that Soft and Wet is so much bullshit and it isn't even a requiem stand. Stealth? Remove sound from objects. Attack? Bubbles everywhere stuffed with nails. Defense? Steal the hardness of a wall and use that on yourself. Star platinum had the weakness of range and getting overwhelmed, Crazy Diamond can't heal it's own user or bring back the dead, Stone Free is still string, Tusk requires Johnny to grow and use his horse to work. Soft and Wet doesn't have any of these weaknesses, not even the weakness of belonging to a dumb user.
It never stole the hardness of a wall in the story, as far as I can remember. And Soft & Wet's weakness is that it seems to be a relatively short-range Stand, and it's got a power stat of C, meaning it'd probably get wrecked by Star Platinum, Crazy Diamond, Sticky Fingers, Stone Free, and Weather Report when it comes to physical strength alone. It was almost defeated by I Am a Rock's core-attraction ability.
Pretty damn sure the "JoJo started off as a parody" thing is just a stupid meme. Part 1 had nothing to do with FotNS at first until Araki (probably forced by Jump) started ripping it off.
I miss hamon, I wish it had been kept around as a secondary ability something people could use to compliment their stands instead of being a primary ability like it was in the beginning of the series.
The Ripple has more uses. It can be used to expel poison from the bloodstream, heal wounds faster, modify the surface of liquids, walk on water or up a wet pillar, kill humans, etcetera. I'm surprised he didn't mention how the Spin creates ripples with the same pattern as The Ripple, as seen by Gyro when he had Jesus' eyeball inside him.
The spin has many uses too. It can be used to make the skin resist to bullets, contain or eliminate people at will, make your pain disappear, trasmit energy from an object to another, it can heal or leave your body dry, it can deflect phisical attacks, it can create mirages to destract your enemy, it can be used to stimulate muscles and manipulate water. There are many different styles, like Uekapipo's.
wait so is Golden Experienc a follow up to hamon in the sense it creates life? (well not actually because Hamon is the transfer of Life energy and Golden Experience just creates life forms somehow)
Its mainly their weakness to sunlight that ties the Pillar Man in the same boat as zombies and vampires as to why Hamon fucks them up so badly. But I also thought Johnny was able to achieve the Infinite Spin because he was also a better horse jockey than Gyro (as stated by Gyro) and thus was more capable of getting his horse to run at its "natural speed" or some romantic shit like that.
***** I didn't say anything about Gyro not achieving Super Spin, I specifically said *Infinite Spin*. And Johnny got that from simply because he was a better horse jockey than Gyro. Gyro even hinted it to him and Johnny picked up on that. Gyro only knew enough about horse racing in order to compete and win, but horse racing was Johnny's life up intl he was paralyze.
Never mind the last sentence. "Infinite Spin" is side effects of Tusk Act 4's special power with the energy taken from when Golden Rotation/Spin is combine with horse power. IN fact,, "Infinite Spin" is just a dubbed context to put in. My mistake. I just re-read chapters 77 to 87 of Steel Ball Run.
"we never got to see hamon pushed to the limit" we never see an 'infinite' hamon overdrive occur, but there's always that scene where kars punches the red stone of aja at the volcano.
Since it's related to this video (kinda), can Johnny bring out Act 4 without activating the super spin? I think I remember seeing him having it out when he's trying to get onto that boat with Gyro's coffin and all, but I'm not sure if that really counts. My current theory is that Act 4 can still be brought out and do punch-ghost things, but it can't use the super spin unless Johnny does the horse thing.
Infinite rotation is the Super Spin done properly. Ballbreaker would have exactly the same effect as Tusk Act 4 if Gyro's steel ball hadn't scraped against Love Train and lost a chunk of itself which threw the spin off of the perfect rotation. This is explicitly stated in the manga itself by Valentine after being hit by it. Tusk does give Johnny some extra control with regard to spatial manipulation (and his nail bullet have a much smaller profile then gyro's steel balls), but the infinite spin is indeed just the super spin done correctly, Tusk just gives Johnny an easier time of landing it than Gyro does.
Valentine takes the first hit directly, when Ball Breaker is originally shown off it smashes Valentines head and rides up his arm. Aging him rapidly on one side. I'd believe you if not every time Johnny uses some form or next step version of the spin, is it a better version then what Gyro can hope to do. So when Gyro's final Super Spin ability is to hype accelerate energy then Tusk Act 4 is to take that and go one step beyond. The infinite spin is someone only Johnny can do.
except he explicitly points out the spin isn't perfect and why. Gyro's steel ball clipped the side of Love Train and it was thrown off balance so it wasn't a proper super spin.
i always believe that Spin and Hamon were supplied by the same bases but branched off. with Spin focusing in Technic and Hamon focusing on Power. because of that one scene jonny fell in the water and causes the same ripple effect as Hamon. and how i understand it the Golden Ratio, is the perfect form. that you can put power in without going out of control. which translate in to you can put infinite power in to it.
Kind of. I wouldnt be surprised if GE having that was completely unrelated to Johnathan having Hamon but by technicality GE is the Tusk counterpart. Really wish there was a hamon user in Bruno's gang instead of Panacotta Fugo now.
What an excellent video. A fine, red-pilled gentleman of class explaining in detail the nature of the video topic over relevant footage with music from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker over it all. *Chef's Kiss* Perfect video.
Time stop, time erasing, since johnny stand is based on gravity,it cant get affected by stands like that(also i think he can escape Made In Heaven, since gravity works normally on Made in Heaven)
You forgot that gyro's balls are not a perfect sphere so it failed, also you forgot to explain how it can be used as a sort of vibration radar or vibration vision seeing how he can use a steel ball to project the human anatomy on a tray of water or the image behind a rock with smoke created by the steel ball. Also i think your are right, against the pillar it would be useless because not only can they learn it right away, they can also reshape their body into the golden rectangle from every aspect and could possibly use infinite rotation with their masteries, Kar's bones, Wammu's wind, and ACDC's blood circulation. Your right, spin is probably more useful than hamon technical wise but hamon is more powerful and more power focused, I mean zepali commented that jonothan had an enormous potential for hamon based on how he made life blussom from his own untrained hamon after zepali jabbed him in the diaphragm. This suggest that hamon's power differs from person to person while spin is just about learning the technique. Also i should mention that Jotaro's mother know's hamon (theory but well backed) if you look at holly from the manga, anime, and ova, she is clearly young but it is well known that she is up there in age, and her stand was vine type like joseph and jonothan, but she's using the lowest level use of hamon.
The pillar men from part 2 used the stone mask to turn themselves into vampire pillar men. Kars and Esidisi were able to most of kill their entire race expect for 2 children because they had the additional power. At least that’s how I see it
The Tusk argument really is sort of like, imagine if we never had parts 1 & 2, and only saw Hamon through Hermit Purple and thought all old Joseph does is all Hamon. I really do wish we could some day see like a spinoff or something about the peaks of Hamon. Could just be a single character or something, nothing too big. You could even essentially write it off as a stand that requires you to breathe in a special way to produce power.
I wouldn't call the spin convenient. I don't remember part 7 that well, so I could be forgetting something. But don't you need an actual object to use the spin on in order to make it work? I mean sure, I guess you could always take off your shoe and use that as a spin weapon. But I think that versus someone that just needs to breath ten times in one second (Is that right?) leaves you with a time gap.
Ok,i just figured out how all of the jojo stands are drawn back to Jonathon and DIO Jonathon Stand:Basically just Hermit Purple and can bring out peoples inner feelings like what happened w Kakyoin and Polnareff Hermit Purple:Hamon manifestation of a stand, jonathon weilds hamon Star Platinum:Stops time like DIOs stand The World Crazy Diamond:Can be related to when DIO heals Puccis foot in part 6 or the healing hamon that zeppeli learnt from part 1 Gold Experience:Can create life, can be drawn back to jonathon making flowers out of the tree branch when he first learnt hamon or when DIO made those human animal hybrids to test his powers Stone Free:Can turn into wires, can be drawn back to DIO using whips to get jonathons body Thats all i can think of atm
Hamon is superior to the Spin in every way. Period. As a martial artist, I can understand what Hamon is supposed to be. Hamon is the whole body generating power within a resonating chamber. The chamber is the center of the body, the dantian, or energy nexus. Chinese martial arts focus on this concept and developing whole body shock impacts. The anime/manga version is obviously ramped to an extreme and overdone level, but the idea is the same. The Spin is dependent on a motion that originates from a kind of "outward" expression, i.e. an easily disrupted motion. Hamon however originates from an internal process. Harder to disrupt. Further its pretty much shown to be capable of nearly anything. Heat? Check. Electric energy? Check. Hardening biological material? Check. Both are ultimately arcane, hard to learn techniques, but one is completely natural and inborn to humans. However...the Spin could ALSO annihilate the Pillar Men. By sniping them. Some spherical projectile launched at high enough speed and force would literally mist a Pillar Man's head. Then you could do the same to the rest of their body til they couldn't regenerate. It doesn't matter what it is, if it has a body that can be damaged and you do enough damage to it, it WILL die.
the peak of Hamon, imagine seeing someone stretch their arm 15 meter or someone cutting through 50 trees with a thread of water sounds op, also could one fuse both spin and hamon to create something even more op
kars can not survive the infinite spin. the infinite spin is a attack that more or less killed a character that would not have died in any other fashion (except gold experience requium). kars simply removing a piece of himself after he's been hit would in no way stop his cells from spinning out of existence.
Except all of the cells don't all start spinning at once, they start gradually. Kars thinks faster then anyone, he perceives time in a slow motion almost, he feels his body begin to spin, he removes a piece of it him and that is no longer effect and a new Kars grows from that cell.
Meti 'Not The Bad Guy' I suppose, but even then I'm not sure he has full body replication. because you see him cast off dozens of pieces himself and he never thought to do this when he was launched to space. and even then i am willing to bet that it still would work as it effected D4C which is essentially his soul.
D4C doomed Valetine because it was also infected with the Infinite Spin, Kars abilities aren't stand/soul based, he could make a million of himself if he choose too, he was drunk with power and never thought to use his powers correctly against Joseph and that cause Araki wrote himself into a corner.
Geordin Thomas idk bout Kars but I do think the spin could fuck up zombies at the very least, a headshot with a steel ball could most likely shred it's brain.
I may be super late but straitz used hamon and he is a vampire which killed himself so i think vampires and pillarmen can train and use hamon but they wont cuz it would kill them.
Great video, the only thing I think you forgot is when Joseph, as an untrained child, knocked a guy out by touching his head and putting hamon in him. Other than that, it was great.
Watching this at the point about Johnathon spawning life from that tree branch randomly lead me to think that may be why Josuke and, more specifically, Giorno's stands do what they do. Giorno due to being a technically direct descendant.
I was surprised to hear Love Deterrence in this video. At first I thought RUclips glitched out (since I have it saved in a playlist) but then I paused and it stopped as well. Interesting choice of song
hamon is stronger, and jonathan could beat johnnys ass in an instant, BUT spin can be distanced whereas hamon seems to be more usable up close (most of the time) also spin seems to use more technique than ripple
yea but listen; firstly, how's johnny gonna stomp jonathan, johnnys like a third his height and also paraplegic; secondly, johnathan is super swole, kicks johnny like a goddamn football
joshua and cheese but johnny only has 10 shots since he has to spend time regrowing his nails, whereas with Jonathan he could use the ripple like joseph did by infusing it with projectiles but those have to be specific too. both can be used at a distance but rotation has more possible options than the ripple.
joshua and cheese Are you a fucking idiot? Did you forget that Johnny can kill Jonathan from half a mile away? Tusk Act 4 would kill Jonathan in a blink of an eye. Jonathan loses to every protagonist from Part 3 and beyond, easily.
first off, listen, no need to get so rude. secondly, unless johnny knew he was gonna get in a confrontation beforehand, he's just likely gonna be like a stone's throw distance, and if i can remember correctly, johnny's nail bullets don't kill instantly, and johnathan seems to be able to really take hits, so unless johnathan has a "n-nani???" moment he could just charge him, they probably would both die or just johnathan while johnny gets critically injured
Best proof that the Spin wouldn't fuck up vampires like the Ripple: Wammu, the OG Spin Master. Seriously, all of his techniques revolved (heh) around it, and he used it to extremely versatile ends, including invisibility. But, his potential was obviously limited by not using the golden ratio, and his use of a compressible fluid medium (air) probably introduced a number of other inefficiencies to his techniques, which explains why he didn't stomp everything forever. Wammu also demonstrates that the difference in prominence between the Spin and the Ripple is basically the result of a series of historical accidents, not any difference in the laws of physics between the universes. It's a pet peeve of mine that people actually think that the techniques are mutually incompatible, because that simply doesn't make any sense, and it's nice to have some evidence to point to that both can exist in harmony.
Ripple > Spin. Ripple has more versatility, and if someone passes their hamon you become strong enough to challenge vampires in one on ones. Spins best benefit is that its used with Stands. Where Hamon's only use with stands was with a guy who literally didn't train his Hamon for years, and had a weak unchanging stand on top of it.

I'm pretty sure I read that when Caesar was younger he would get into fights all the time and he would innately use the ripple which cause any one hit with it to fall into a temporary coma, so ripple could be useful against human opponents but in a nonlethal way.
I'm pretty sure the big ass wrench he loved to hit people with was all he needed to put them there... maybe the hamon kept people from dying from that like that should, as something he was doing subconsciously, since he's not a total dick
What if: Joseph Joestar learned the Spin on accident while fucking around with his Clacker thingies.

still think tusk act 4 is more deadly than hamon
Hung Tang ye i agree
Hung Tang Watch as JoJolion has an enemy spin user and Soft & Wet remove the friction from the Spin making it useless. Would not put it past Araki to do that.
Speak Evil
Reminder that Soft and Wet is so much bullshit and it isn't even a requiem stand.
HAMON RUINED FIST OF THE NORTH STA......................... waitaminute
And that's when you remember Jojo started off as a parody manga.
Hakka No Togame Parody? not Homage?
Pretty damn sure the "JoJo started off as a parody" thing is just a stupid meme. Part 1 had nothing to do with FotNS at first until Araki (probably forced by Jump) started ripping it off.
i only know about part 3's artstyle being a parody to FotNS
I miss hamon, I wish it had been kept around as a secondary ability something people could use to compliment their stands instead of being a primary ability like it was in the beginning of the series.
Hopefully if & when we get a part 9, Araki bring it back
The Ripple has more uses.
Would it be possible to spin a vampires brain back to normal?
Yup

they would be op af
Johnny: “I’m a sick cripple, I don’t use the ripple!”
wait so is Golden Experienc a follow up to hamon in the sense it creates life?
(well not actually because Hamon is the transfer of Life energy and Golden Experience just creates life forms somehow)
Makes sense, since he is half jonathan half dio son(btw its more jonathan son than dio)
9:06 why yes I do remember the time Jonathan used sunlight yellow overdrive to kakyoin Johnny
please zeppeli-san, it's a clue to...... Valentine's stand
JOHHHHNNNNNYYYYYY
"we never got to see hamon pushed to the limit"
we never see an 'infinite' hamon overdrive occur, but there's always that scene where kars punches the red stone of aja at the volcano.
We saw Kars use hamon
You forgot the hamon when amplified by the red stone heated the volcano so much it flung kars with enough power to reach escape velocity
Johnny: "I'm a cool cripple I don't use the ripple"
The "virgin" ripple vs the "chad" hamon
Scientists: Perpetual Motion is impossible
Gyro: hold my balls
Since it's related to this video (kinda), can Johnny bring out Act 4 without activating the super spin? I think I remember seeing him having it out when he's trying to get onto that boat with Gyro's coffin and all, but I'm not sure if that really counts. My current theory is that Act 4 can still be brought out and do punch-ghost things, but it can't use the super spin unless Johnny does the horse thing.
Johnny proved that spin is more versatile when he grated cheese, ate spaghetti and brushed teeth with his rotating nails
WHAT IF JOUSUKE 8 IS USING THE SPIN ?!?!
Mr. Frete he might be
The quadrouple ball breaker
Michael Carrion touché
He is. Soft and Wet's "bubbles" aren't actually bubbles at all. They're actually hemicircle-shaped threads spinning at incredible speed.
Damn, spin changes property, also in part 2 joseph gained hamon for being Jonathan grandson
I know this video is 3 years old but your explanation of the spin helped me write my book talk essay on part 7 so thank you

Kind of. I wouldnt be surprised if GE having that was completely unrelated to Johnathan having Hamon but by technicality GE is the Tusk counterpart. Really wish there was a hamon user in Bruno's gang instead of Panacotta Fugo now.

I just wanted to watch a discussion video about the Spin and Hamon and instead now I'm just crying about Mother Base. Thanks a lot, Meti.
So... Craker Volley Hamon technique is cooler spin?
The pillar men from part 2 used the stone mask to turn themselves into vampire pillar men. Kars and Esidisi were able to most of kill their entire race expect for 2 children because they had the additional power. At least that’s how I see it
Why the "Love Detterence" in the background again fam?

Damn bitch a traitor
The Tusk argument really is sort of like, imagine if we never had parts 1 & 2, and only saw Hamon through Hermit Purple and thought all old Joseph does is all Hamon.
I really do wish we could some day see like a spinoff or something about the peaks of Hamon. Could just be a single character or something, nothing too big. You could even essentially write it off as a stand that requires you to breathe in a special way to produce power.
Eh ultimate kars isn't really a pillar man at that point. He's a weird mutant
I love the MGS music in the bg. Nice collision of some of my favorite franchises.

Gyro: breaks dimensions with spin
Ripple is stronger in which case?
True that now with Soft and Wet having some literal Cream erasure ability thanks to the Spin.. Hamon stands no chance
True
I just noticed how similar Jonathan’s healing is to Golden Experience
I wouldn't call the spin convenient. I don't remember part 7 that well, so I could be forgetting something. But don't you need an actual object to use the spin on in order to make it work? I mean sure, I guess you could always take off your shoe and use that as a spin weapon. But I think that versus someone that just needs to breath ten times in one second (Is that right?) leaves you with a time gap.
GokuPilgrim for the golden ratio yes, other than that no since wrecking ball did the opposite in which I was used to distort the golden ratio.
I was totally distracted from the explanation by this amazing mix of Love Deterrence
How strong could Jonathan get if he survived at the end of part 1
Ok,i just figured out how all of the jojo stands are drawn back to Jonathon and DIO
Jonathon Stand:Basically just Hermit Purple and can bring out peoples inner feelings like what happened w Kakyoin and Polnareff
Hermit Purple:Hamon manifestation of a stand, jonathon weilds hamon
Star Platinum:Stops time like DIOs stand The World
Crazy Diamond:Can be related to when DIO heals Puccis foot in part 6 or the healing hamon that zeppeli learnt from part 1
Gold Experience:Can create life, can be drawn back to jonathon making flowers out of the tree branch when he first learnt hamon or when DIO made those human animal hybrids to test his powers
Stone Free:Can turn into wires, can be drawn back to DIO using whips to get jonathons body
Thats all i can think of atm
Beta male
the peak of Hamon, imagine seeing someone stretch their arm 15 meter or someone cutting through 50 trees with a thread of water sounds op, also could one fuse both spin and hamon to create something even more op
kars can not survive the infinite spin. the infinite spin is a attack that more or less killed a character that would not have died in any other fashion (except gold experience requium). kars simply removing a piece of himself after he's been hit would in no way stop his cells from spinning out of existence.
Meti 'Not The Bad Guy' i am willing to yield to that argument. i still willing to believe the infinite could kill kars
Geordin Thomas idk bout Kars but I do think the spin could fuck up zombies at the very least, a headshot with a steel ball could most likely shred it's brain.
I could only think of paz yelling "time to wrap this up"

So theoretically they should be able to hurt vampires and pillar men.

MrJjking17 Stands have never been referred to as "spirit hamon".
the kanji for stand : スタンド (幽波紋)/ sutando (yūhamon)

MrJjking17 Its name? Is that your argument?
No character has ever commented on its connection to the ripple.
Watching this at the point about Johnathon spawning life from that tree branch randomly lead me to think that may be why Josuke and, more specifically, Giorno's stands do what they do. Giorno due to being a technically direct descendant.

hamon is stronger, and jonathan could beat johnnys ass in an instant, BUT spin can be distanced whereas hamon seems to be more usable up close (most of the time) also spin seems to use more technique than ripple
yea but listen; firstly, how's johnny gonna stomp jonathan, johnnys like a third his height and also paraplegic; secondly, johnathan is super swole, kicks johnny like a goddamn football
joshua and cheese but johnny only has 10 shots since he has to spend time regrowing his nails, whereas with Jonathan he could use the ripple like joseph did by infusing it with projectiles but those have to be specific too. both can be used at a distance but rotation has more possible options than the ripple.
Johnny can walk
joshua and cheese Are you a fucking idiot?

Spin > Ripple end of story. Why even make a video on this.
