Personally, I think Jotaro does use hamon on an unconscious level and channels it through Star Platinum. A couple of SP's one-off abilities seem to replicate hamon, but my biggest piece of evidence is the manner in which SP kills DIO: with the energy of SP's punch traveling along DIO's body to his head in a way very similar to how Jonathan and Joseph used to send their energy through surfaces.
To me the craziest ability of hamon is the ability to straight up control other people's bodies. Like how Cesear made a random girl attack Jojo or how Johnathan used his last hamon to control a zombie and make the ship he was on explode. On the same note I think a lot of people assume that hamon is really only effective on vampires, but we see numerous occasions of direct hamon attacks potentially being fatal to humans, like with Suzi Q.
Ceasar used hamon to mercy kill that one german soldier who got half his body absorbed by the piller men, so it can definitely be lethal. Plus you don't even need a direct hamon attack to kill someone. An untrained Joseph was able to snap a cop's finger by launching a bottle cap at him, imagine how hard he'd be able to launch that thing after he was fully trained.
@@Arzamol5 Joseph also in the flashback with Speedwagon seemingly killed the pilot with just a hamon touch. If i remember correctly, that was his first time using hamon, so if a first time user can kill a person with just a touch, it's pretty lethal.
If I had to guess, since Hamon simultaneously has properties of both electricity and magnetism, the reason Lisa Lisa was able to hypnotize people is because she basically used Hamon as an electrical impulse not wholly dissimilar to those of the human brain.
@@PerSon-xg3zr It also makes sense Dio never bothered to look into it because he's fought an already superior version of it that isn't even a stand, plus chances are he didn't want to admit that it could possibly be teansmitting the same energy that's deadly to vampires at the time
You can actually temporarily disable small areas of the brain if you sustain a strong electromagnetic pulse to it at very close range. There's a video out there demonstrating it by pointing an EMP at broca's or wernicke's area, showing it disabling the ability for speech formation.
Also... Joseph's iconic "your next line is" could be he using the hamon/Hermit Purple power of seeing the future but subconsciously, as he was an innate hamon user that didn't know how to use it properly until later in life (and people in part 2 didn't know that feat, or didn't talk about it)
@@eliceolopezramirez7706 araki confirmed that was hermit purple in his words "if the crusaders were to travel back to 1940 they would have seen hermit purple wrapped around Joseph" also I know this is only in the anime but in the part 2 opening you can see hermit purple hidden throughout the opening
@@eliceolopezramirez7706 I respect your opinion but I personally believe the trick is a mix of Joseph's wits and hermit purple, with esidici I think it's purely his centuries of experience and his own wits with no stand influence
Healing abilities combined with incredibly high anti-aging do make hamon like a super useful thing to have. And ngl, considering Jotaro looking younger with every part he's in, I'm starting to wonder if he isn't secretely using it himself hehe
Hamon having both healing and durability negation is amazing. Also pain dulling and the ability to transmit through different materials for semi-sneak attacks. Also also life/unlife detection for combat. Finally the anime makes a reference to Hermit Purple in the part 2 intro with Hermit Purple’s vines in some of the background parts.
Johnathon body had leftover Hamon Dio in part 3 still had trouble fully taking control of Johnathons body Dio could use Hermit Purple Dio could then use the World Dio got full control using Joseph's blood that also had Hamon Jotaro had enough subconscious Hamon that he Hamon Overdrived inside of Dio during the clash Being part vampire and connected fully to the body, Dio self-destructed Maybe it was like the Zeppelis Hamon transfer
My favorite Hamon abilities were Joseph's Spaghetti attack, the Cola gun and the Tequila guns. And imagine if Jotaro (With Hamon) could use it through Star Platinum. DIO would've been 1 shot. And in Eyes of heaven Jonathan used his Hamon to heal Slow Dancer's hoof after Johnny obliterated Funny Valentine. That means that a Hamon user can also heal others from injuries.
I don't see why someone with a Humanoid Stand couldn't channel it through said Stand. But even if they couldn't, they could lash a Vampire their Hermit Purple vines.
There are two other cases of hamon hypnosis shown in part 2, caesar hypnotizing the girl with a hamon kiss and Joseph making the pilot crash the plane. There is also the time caesar killed marco by overflowing his blood current with hamon and stopping his heart
@@svenkrisenberg6684 same. I still believe that he just short-circuted the Hijacker's brain. In MOTHER/EarthBound terms, Joseph basically used the Hamon equivalent of "PK BrainShock"
So here like something interesting to consider with holly. Remember Joseph stand was vines with spikes, Jonathan stand was vines with spikes and roses, holly stand is vine with spikes and fruit. See a pattern? I think this implies holly has some knowledge or skills in hamon in my opinion.
this checks out. i don't know how old she is exactly, but she looks at least younger than jotaro and even just a rudimentary understanding of hamon could do that to a person.
@bigchunkofbridgetloreizumi4990 *None of those Stands have "spikes" - they're THORNS because it's part of a vine.* *Also Jonathan's Hermit Purple doesn't have roses.*
One thing I like about Power systems like Hamon over Stands is their almost ubiquitous nature It's rare to be capable of Hamon but in theory there's nothing stopping anyone from learning Hamon and getting to the point of having abilities like Lisa Lisa's hypnosis or Tonpetty's ability to read the future. It makes fights a lot more interesting when you're working with people who can have similar if not the exact same moveset (probably why a lot of media have "dark" versions of the protagonists) But with Hamon it's just something you can do (unlike say a transformation where you have to turn it on). It's a technique but it can extend itself into an entire lifestyle to where it can affect things like your choice of clothing (the special beetle scarf.) Stands will always be one of the coolest power systems and their ability to showcase individuality feels practically unmatched but Hamon has the potential to be the drive of an entire culture and it's link to the natural connects it to everyone as opposed to the supernatural reflection of oneself through stands.
Hamon is such a amazing concept, Araki should have kept it relevant. Also imagine applying the Spin on Hamon energy. The result may be a stand resembling a torus.
it is absolutely wild to me that Joseph got his grandson to go on a globetrotting adventure to fight someone he knew for a fact to be a vampire and did not think to teach Jotoro how to *Breathe the Sun*
Cause it requires a lot of training. Even Joseph took a while to use it and get better. And he was a prodigy meanwhile jotaro didn't even show signs have being able to use. Remember in part 1 not everyone can use hamon
@@medicc2854 ya absolutely true. Joseph was able to use hamon without any training to a degree in which he could kill a man or launch projectiles at people. He wouldnt even know where to start when it comes to teaching it.
You missed two of hamons most important abilities, to attract objects, like that time they made a paraglider out of leaves or climbed that tower using hamon, and the ability to repel things like Josephs cracker volley or when he shot that bottle cap at insane speeds, especially since a lot of objects conduct hamon, a creative hamon user could do all sorts of crazy things with just that, But on top of that they also have the power to straight up control peoples bodies and in some cases see the future, A master hamon user by no means should be weaker than the average stand user, heck just the mind control powers put them on equal footing, the rest is just a nice add-on
I wonder if breathing styles from demon Slayer are partially inspired by hamon because even though they are very different they do have distinct similarities.
I mean, a breathing technique that counters creatures that die in the sunlight? That also gives its users higher control over their own bodies? I could definitely see the Breathing Styles being inspired by Hamon, even if on a surface level.
The way SBR handled spin is how part 3 should've handled Joseph and his hamon. One of my biggest complaints was that it wasn't made clear enough that Joseph is detrained and not as good at it as before, or he was and just didn't use his abilities. I wish there were more fuck yeah hamon moments. And by all means, let the highlight be on stands, but at least the healing aspect I'd like to see more of... They're basically the only stand group without a designated healer and you just have to accept Polnaref can walk with half a quad missing. SBR is very interesting in that regard. You have stands, spin, spin based stands...
Now that I think about it Tom Pettys precognition ability is similar to Joseph predicting the next sentences of his enemies and that ability can also work in tangent with hermit purples spirit photography ability as well. 🤔
Furthermore, on the Hamon precognition thing, I believe a very basic form of that is almost definitely the reason why Young Joseph can predict people's lines perfectly. It's just that he's a young, natural born Hamon User who, up until the Pillar Men, only used his Hamon pretty casually and never really tried or trained for it, whereas Tonpetti was an old seasoned Hamon Master with decades of dedication behind him, so Tonpetti could see several years ahead, while Joseph could only see a few seconds (or maybe a minute) ahead of himself.
I think the fact that Caesar presumably walks around in absolutely fucking soaked clothes is made so much worse by the scenes where he was walking through snow to the Pillar Men's hideout. Like.. do I need to explain why walking with wet clothes in cold weather is very uncomfortable?
We can also take into account the scene at the beginning of part 2 where Straizo killed like 5 people with a single hamon attack. That's powerful as hell. It could even rival many powerful stands.
@@Percival-kl9yy I didn't mean that hamon could destroy stands, rather that hamon can instakill any human being (stand user or not) if powerful enough.
@@Percival-kl9yy The hamon did not affect Empress because she was made from Joseph's body, and of course his body is going to have a defense against his own Hamon.
This all makes sense to me. Wish Hamon was still used before P7. So much potential if Araki had the thought back then! Honestly, I’d love a rewrite with hamon for all the parts!
I always thought that hermit purple was similar in nature to Pearl Jam whereas if you have the potential to be a stand user and attain proficiency in a craft or field you’ll get a stand to fit your abilities
As a question: If Hermit Purple is a stand for Joseph's Hamon and not Joseph's own Stand... Shouldn't Joseph have been forced to manifest his own Stand due to the "curse of Dio" (IE, the emergency distress signal sent from Jonathan's body due to being pierced by the Stand arrow that activated Stand abilities in all of the Joestar bloodline) aside from Hermit Purple?
I think Hermit purple is a default stand for hamon users since it’s the only stand to use hamon and both Johnathan and Joseph had it. Araki also said that if the Crusaders went back in time to part 2 they’d see young Joseph wrapped in hermit purple
I was thinking that too, but perhaps it's that Joseph technically already had a stand through his hamon which is what stopped him from gaining another one? Like that his body just responded to the distress signal with a "yep, already got a stand, champ" lolol.
I'd argue that even Lisa Lisa's hypnosis could be a part of a Hermit Purple-like ability, just instead requiring another human as a medium for information gathering instead of a TV/Camera/Sand?
The way I saw it, Lisa Lisa wasn’t hypnotizing Susie Q, but instead channeled Hamon into Susie Q’s brain, letting her access memory of Esidisi’s control she wouldn’t otherwise have without that brain enhancement.
Ceaser did a kiss infused hamon to get that one lady to choke out Joseph. So we do have an on-screen example of how hamon being used to hypnotize someone.
Hamon is the jack of all trades MANY abilities that if they could touch stands would defeat lots of stands 1. Healing yourself and Allies 2. Increased stamina to insane levels ( Joseph and ceaser were climbing the oil tower for many HOURS ) overall they can’t get tired as long as the lungs is fine 3. Increased life span and slowed aging 4. Being able to transmite the Hamon energy through basically most materials to make Hamon blasts that are basically grenade (Jonathan was able to do that) 5. Increased strength to insane levels if Jonathan strength was in the stand scale I think he would be a B maybe A Jonathan was able to break STEEL collars the amount of raw strength of that feat is INSANE Star platinum with A is able to break diamonds 6. Insane levels of speed reaction Joseph was able to avoid straizo point blank laser eyes 7. Being able to completely manipulate liquids Lisa Lisa was able to create to water pillars to jump , plus walking on water 8. Being able to create a shield that can even stops machine guns with just hair / you can basically have some fur on your pocket for a insta bunker 9. Brainwash and mind reading 10. Being able to see the future Hamon is not weak at all most stands can’t have this many abilities they only lose to the strongest stands overall
I really wish Araki didn't forget about Hamon. I think using it in conjunction with Stands would have been really great and opened up the opportunity for even more creativity. I'm also of the opinion that Dio blinding Jotaro forced him to focus and channel Hamon into Star Platinum. Not to do any of the crazy feats that Jonathan and Joseph did, but just enough to infuse it into his punch. Also a fan of the theory that Joseph was using Hamon to heal the Stardust Crusaders between fights.
13:43 wait so like in theory joseph could obtain a second stand of his own by getting pricked by the arrow that would be an interesting idea to explore and dive into an alternate setting of a spinoff like novel kars
Also regarding the psychic abilities. If we want to go by the theory that Joseph being able to predict his opponents is a result of hamon and a dormant hermit purple. I have the theory that hermit purple is the stand of hamon like how Ball Breaker is phrased to be the stand of the Spin rather than Gyro's specifically. Hermit Purple being a juvenile state that has yet to fully mature. Obviously hamon was the first of the three powersets to come and Araki has refined his craft since then so it can't be helped that its more simplistic and underdeveloped than the rest. It would be great to see it make a comeback and have more utility. I wouldn't say hamon is entirely ineffective against humans considering we've seen the effects it can have on a person's bodily and mental functions, it's just far more effective on undead. This example is extreme but Kars was able to melt Joseph's knee just by the sheer heat and power. Yes he's the ultimate life form but to see hamon be able to do that, it stands to reason that someone could develop their hamon offensively enough to cause severe burns though nowhere near as potent as Kars obviously, It would be cool to have hamon take you on a forked road. You could develop your hamon towards the psychic powers and reach the same foresight as the grandmaster along with a host of other abilities, or you could develop your hamon to be more focused on combat, thus upon mastery hermit purple evolves on each path.
When it comes to stands in part 7 I always had this fun little theory that if the conditions were right you could have unlocked two stands but they would fuse into one an example being Diego and Scary Monsters fusing with alt universe Diego's The World into a dinosaur version of the world that has the ability to turn people into dinosaurs and stop time as well
One of my favorite hamon techniques that Joseph used was his hair bullet proof shield thing that he used against the nazi's, and Santana in early part 2. The other Hamon technique I loved was the cactus Frag grenade he made to beat that fist of the north star thug out in the mexican desert
I always thought it would have been really cool if, in a later part, one of the characters had to fight an enemy who used Hamon. It would be fun to see how the various effects of hamon could be used for cruelty and violence (unlike what anything we'd see from Jonathan, Zeppeli, or Joseph). It would be extra funny if the enemy hamon user couldn't even see Stands, yet had so many abilities that a generic Stand user still struggled to fight them.
Hamon can be used on living things right? Kars used "Ultimate Hamon" on Joseph and melted his knee but then hed Kars and is the ultimate badass in JoJo.
About Hamon being passed down I'm pretty sure (don't quote me) a person's Hamon was once described as their "life force" meaning if one was passing down their Hamon they would be giving away their life hence why William and Caeser only passed down their Hamon when they were basically dead.
joseph in part 3 says that hermit purple can also be used to read minds during the justice and darby the gambler arc but we never see him use this ability so that supports your theory about hamon having psychic abilities since its similar to tonpettys palm reading technique
I think with hamon the creative way to make it more powerful is to make it more physical. And have some people who use hamon to use energy attacks or radiation when using it.
This could very well explain why Joseph could predict his opponent’s next line. His hamon’s hermit purple gave Joseph the precog to predict his opponents.
You know I wonder if part of the reason Jonathan was so hard to take over is cause he had 2 peoples worth of Hamon in him - it was enough for a stand to manifest after being poked by the Arrow afterall. . . But yeah, Hamon has alot of side abilities that imply that its basically a form of electricity - you can manipulate magnetics, liquids, etc with it The mind reading is probably a form of manipulating ones bioelectricity (which hamon might be a supernatural extension of) Its also likely the Mind Reading is just an expression of Hermit Purple since it can interface with things to get information out of them - iirc didnt Dio kill Enyaba so she couldnt get interrogated?
I make Hamon return in my fanfic Reimi's Bizarre Adventure Pink Justice. Its a time travel story where Reimi basically gets a Jumanji ending. While in Heaven she was given a well rounded Stand & Jonathan passed on his Hamon powers to her before she went back to her final night. So Reimi basically wakes up right before Kira killed her or her parents & has the Hamon of Jonathan. She uses Hamon for plenty of non combat stuff like drying clothes, healing friends & family, etc. In combat against Enyabas zombies she runs Hamon through her Stand's katana creating a Hamon blade.
(Around 15:32) You forgot to mention the idea that Joseph's "Next you're going to say-" gag in Part 2 does coincidentally line up with this Hamon/Hermit Purple's nebulous future/information sight ability, if Joesph truly had Hermit Purple in Part 2 Araki may have unintentionally explained a gag as a super short sight precog & (stay with me here) Technically low level fate manipulation since in some cases his predictions caused the ones affected to break mid sentence with a "-NANI?!" (something not even the Hamon Master could seemingly do since his prediction didn't save anyone/change that fate). 😅
7:40 i remember Caesar also put a spell over that italian lady when fighting Joseph. also remember that William discovered hamon because of a healer using some variation to heal people. Probably with fine control of the hamon you can read and or control other human being to certain extent? I would argue that could be also used to fight not making them explode but probably getting them disoriented. Also like you said, they are martial artist that reinforce their body with hamon. They can break a normal human pretty easy
Tonpetty has claircognizance, he can accurately tell someone’s fate to the last detail. He may not have a hermit stand, but that could be due to him not having a fighting spirit. Since stands require strong determination and fighting spirit to form. Joesph has clairvoyance, can see the future up to an extent. Hermit Purple builds on that with spirit photography. Jonathan/DIO has clairsentience, they can read people’s hearts & desire. Jonathan gained insight into several characters due to his upbringing like speedwagon or Dio. Then DIO literally says it verbatim using Jonathan’s stand. Hermit purple like stands aren’t just the end result of Hamon, but also divination tools determined by individuals same like stands.
I love the editing in this video man. Let alone, I'm happy to see someone putting RESECT on hamon users. Thanks again for another great video METAS. Criminally underrated youtuber who deserves way ore subs.
Jolyne might have been S tier if she had been able to use Hamon. She could have channeled it through her stand's strings for attack power, repaired fibers of Stone Ocean for additional self healing, and maybe even seen White Snake's user in time to do something with the information
I’ve always liked the idea of connecting Hamon and Stands. I’ve had the theory that the animal creation of Ultimate Kars would be the result of him unlocking a stand when he became the ultimate lifeform. We wouldn’t be able to see it in the manga/anime as we are not watching the show from the perspective of a stand user
I would assume that supreme deep pass overdrive is only done near death since hamon is life energy. If you're giving all of your life energy, you're probably going to die either way
Hamon parts are a story with characters on adventures of learning and mastery of an art. Stand parts are monster of the week I don't dislike stand parts, but 1 and 2 just feel more cohesive and gripping
joseph had precog from his natural hamon ability, he just never got very good with it and used it to predict people's words and actions moments in the future
Joseph also used Hypnosis when he knocks out a pilot, he also does it on a vampire horse and a bird but the whole knocking people out by using the ripple is really strong.
When thinking back on it there were a few different stand ideas that could allow the use of hamon and stands together. Admittedly the abilities I came up with were kinda basic, but it shows potential.
Me and you relate I was very thrown off by the lack of hamon. The creator talks a lot about lack of ideas but he could have had a lot more ideas in mind if he had combined it together
I believe for the Lisa Lisa hypnosis it’s requiring the understanding of the way the brain retains memory . I’ll use coke as an example . Every time you drink a coke electrical messages transferred via nerves and neurons are made in the brain describing what ever the sensory organs are picking up ( I.E the taste , smell , color and the temperature) . The electrical current contains the information made by the sensory organs and kept as a current in the brain . This current can get stronger the more times one does the same action . What Lisa Lisa probably did was use hamon to create a conductive force that allows those same electrical charges that are in Susie Q’s brain and using her own nerve system to transfer them into her own . I don’t remember how the exact scen in the manga or anime went but for Lisa Lisa , she probably experienced Susie’s memory’s as her own and used that memory to find the stone .
the virgin stand power: if you take an action to persue me then calamity will flow throwing misfortune at you, the closer you get to me or my stand user the more the calamity will flow however this can be countered if you where to have a power that tranc- the chad hamon: sun power
you guys forget that Kira Yoshikage with his sheer heart attack + Killer Queen are considered 2 stands, 2 separate abilities Same for Epitaph (but that can be kinda explained though)
one more thing to consider with the jotaro having hamon scenario: imagine you have to dodge both star platinum AND jotaro at the same time. jotaro lets star platinum fight for him because he can't damage stands, but we sometimes see him attacking stand users directly, like when he decked josuke in the face. now imagine jotaro has all the abilities of hamon and hermit purple, this means that not only is star platinum a threat, but so is jotaro, as now his own punches can damage stands. also it is important to mention ultimate kars in any discussion about the potential power of hamon, his hamon was so powerful he could shoot laser beams that can cleanly sever a persons arm and, if amplified by the red stone of aija, had enough power to cause a volcanic eruption.
I agree it's underrated And I loved Hamon But to be fair.. Its really only good for beating vampires Like yeah it has a single healing ability, but a hamon user is no more of a threat to a stand user then a regular guy who knows martial arts Its very possible hamon does have more combat abilities we just never saw But all the ones we DID see specifically work on the undead I don't think I'm undead.. So I can punch a hamon user and survive I don't think my fist would even touch Jotaro before I'm turned to paste I love Hamon And I love stands They fill different niches And if the hamon turns to stand theory is true Then yeah hamon is so much more powerful then most realise
I've actually always been a little miffed learning joseph was in part 3, and that he never used Hamon. Going into the part I always thought he would have been insane having both power systems (and his own plot armor) It wasn't his part, and jotaro was cool. But Joseph should have been a monster.
Yeah I thought he would be a grand master like he's mother towards the crusaders but no he's just an old man who keeps getting disrespected by hes grand son lol
Has anyone ever thought to do a, what if Hamon stayed around. Make joseph more devoted to Hamon so it will never say, anything like "that is something I have not had to done in a long time". He is inspired to keep up his training or use of hamon at least a bit & knowing he can't live forever would also want an apprentice. It is hinted that anyone can learn hamon at least a bit. As well as the jojo blood line seems to be linked to the hamon tribe. So I often wonder why it never returns, even when joseph could have tried to teach jotaro who should have hamon tribe blood. As well as Giorno Giovanna that was technically born from Jonathan Joestar's body, yet who would teach hamon at that point. Still I really missed Hamon after it was gone.
I have always wondered what would happen if a hamon based stand were to absorb or project through a red stone of aja. And we know that there are other stones other than the super aja, the super aja was just really big.
I think it would have been nice to see more unique styles. There are a lot of techniques, but it’s usually just variations. Caeser’s bubbles really changed the game of how hamon is used. Imagine someone who fights by rapidly growing plants, manipulating hamon infused smoke clouds, or even a fire bender (Hamon has properties of electricity, and electricity can alter flames). Just a lot of cool stuff I’d have liked to see.
15:15- Another great evidence is the fact that in JJBA ASBR, Joseph can somewhat see Narancia's Aerosmith stand, which he wouldn't if he wasn't a stand user. 5th plane goin down tonigh
Yeah, Hermit Purple is almost definitely a representation of one's mastery over Hamon. There's multiple instances where mastering something to a sufficient degree gives you a related stand, Hermit Purple and Ball Breaker being two of them. Pearl Jam for example only showed up once Tonio reached a level of mastery in both various forms of medicine and cooking, the two primary components of it's ability, and continued striving to reach greater levels. Rohan was quite likely close to that level as well, and was probably just missing the social deduction needed to "read people like a book" which was why Heaven's Door needed a catalyst in the form of the arrow as opposed to forming naturally.
Hamon was pretty mid in part 1 - which, to be fair, there wasn't much in part 1 that wasn't mid - but I think part 2 did a really good job of finding creative and interesting ways for it to be used. And then part 3 happened and there were like, maybe 2 or 3 times Joseph used Hamon total, and it was never mentioned again. Which I personally think was kind of a bummer because there are _so_ many interesting ways you could go about mixing Hamon and stands, especially with a mind as creative as Araki's.
I bet Joseph could have passed down hermit purple using the ability to pass on hamon when you die. imagine if he had died during the Dio fight but passed on his hamon to Jotaro buffing his stand even more on top of time stop would have been sick as fuck. i imagine it would become a combined stand. it would be cool to see with Star Platinum being wrapped in thorns, maybe with a crown of thorns motif based on Araki’s fascination with biblical imagery
Honestly i think in part 3 Joseph shouldve been trying to teach hamon to the other crusaders. With jotaro learning quickly from him being in the jostar bloodline. Imagine the final fight but dio keeps alil more distance cause jotaro can 1 shot him. Or silver chariot gains a vibration blade, instakilling dio in his sneak attack And most importantly... the UNBLOCKABLE EMERALD SPLASH
If Jotaro had Hermit Purple, he would have defeated Pucci AND saved Jolyne at the same time. He could pulled Jolyne out of the knifes way with Hermit Purple and still get within range to beat Pucci with the Stand Rush
I like to think if it as, gyros throw was so powerful it manifested a stand, but he himself didn't master the spin, the ball did, Johnnys fingernails madtered the spin so a stand became his. With joseph he himself mastered hamon so hamons stand became his to control. Part 2 joseph hadn't mastered it but hsmon itself had the stand of which he couldn't control.
Hamon actually had so many abilities that would end up being a part of stands later. Hamon can do so much with what it touches, but also it makes you super human strong.
When I first started part three I was kinda disappointed with stands because of how basic I thought they were compared to hamon, it's also the reason that part two is my favorite part.
During part 8 we briefly see alt universe young Joseph, and he has a Humanoid hermit purple. So maybe if Joseph had kept up his hamon training he would have achieved something similar
The crazy thing about Josuke is, that he isn't physicly like Jotaro or Joseph, but his thinking and iteligence is that of Joseph. And his Stand is Star Platinum without his precision, but with a alchemie component. It's almost like he also inherited the hamon part of Joseph.
Given the nose dive in physical feats for stands after part 3 it's safe to say most hamon users would fold most stand users out side of specific hax/close range stands
Oh, by the way, if my voice sounds different, I was sick during this recording but that was like two weeks ago lol
you sound cool as hell dw
I suppose ,another stand ,that can be developed by user being extremy good at particular skill is Pearl Jam - it's development skill being cooking. So ,I think ,PJ isn't specific to Antonio - most cooks would develop it.
But ,maybe ,this category of stands can be expanded?
Insect dude reminds me of the dude with the eye in I think Steel Ball Run, in the first third...
Use hamon bro
You guys are all forgetting when Straitzo turned evil and straight up cut two guards in half with his hands at the start of Part 2.
Joseph literally threw his hair in front of him and made a shield from bullets
nah the craziest ability fr is how hamon proceeds to be one of the most boring af power system
If I had to guess, since Hamon simultaneously has properties of both electricity and magnetism, the reason Lisa Lisa was able to hypnotize people is because she basically used Hamon as an electrical impulse not wholly dissimilar to those of the human brain.
Hamon is Survivor confirmed 😅
@@tgatt5759Survivor but it can actually be controlled. Damn Survivor just keeps getting more and more irrelevant ever since DIO even brought it up.

You can actually temporarily disable small areas of the brain if you sustain a strong electromagnetic pulse to it at very close range.
There's a video out there demonstrating it by pointing an EMP at broca's or wernicke's area, showing it disabling the ability for speech formation.
Do not let this distract you from the fact that hamon have properties of both electricity and magnetism

Joseph vs esidi
I just had a realization. When Jotaro punched the world so hard that it exploded from the leg up.. that might've been a subconscious use of Hamon.
You are a GENIOUS
Johnathon body had leftover Hamon
Dio in part 3 still had trouble fully taking control of Johnathons body
Dio could use Hermit Purple
Dio could then use the World
Dio got full control using Joseph's blood that also had Hamon
Jotaro had enough subconscious Hamon that he Hamon Overdrived inside of Dio during the clash
Being part vampire and connected fully to the body, Dio self-destructed
Maybe it was like the Zeppelis Hamon transfer
Makes sense since Joseph was full of hamon, if you don't believe me ask his right leg
I mean seriously, if the leg really was that weak, it should've just broken off, but that punch caused the whole body to explode too.
I started watching JoJo a bit ago, and didn't that one vampire explode when conducting hamon? Might be similar.
remember the hamon that kars used when he became the ultimate lifeform? hamon has so much potential, sad it's gone

Did you forget "Bird"?

@bigchunkofbridgetloreizumi4990
*None of those Stands have "spikes" - they're THORNS because it's part of a vine.*
*Also Jonathan's Hermit Purple doesn't have roses.*
One thing I like about Power systems like Hamon over Stands is their almost ubiquitous nature
It's rare to be capable of Hamon but in theory there's nothing stopping anyone from learning Hamon and getting to the point of having abilities like Lisa Lisa's hypnosis or Tonpetty's ability to read the future.
It makes fights a lot more interesting when you're working with people who can have similar if not the exact same moveset (probably why a lot of media have "dark" versions of the protagonists)
But with Hamon it's just something you can do (unlike say a transformation where you have to turn it on). It's a technique but it can extend itself into an entire lifestyle to where it can affect things like your choice of clothing (the special beetle scarf.)
Stands will always be one of the coolest power systems and their ability to showcase individuality feels practically unmatched but Hamon has the potential to be the drive of an entire culture and it's link to the natural connects it to everyone as opposed to the supernatural reflection of oneself through stands.

it is absolutely wild to me that Joseph got his grandson to go on a globetrotting adventure to fight someone he knew for a fact to be a vampire and did not think to teach Jotoro how to *Breathe the Sun*
Let alone Kakyoin.
You missed two of hamons most important abilities, to attract objects, like that time they made a paraglider out of leaves or climbed that tower using hamon, and the ability to repel things like Josephs cracker volley or when he shot that bottle cap at insane speeds, especially since a lot of objects conduct hamon, a creative hamon user could do all sorts of crazy things with just that,
But on top of that they also have the power to straight up control peoples bodies and in some cases see the future,
A master hamon user by no means should be weaker than the average stand user, heck just the mind control powers put them on equal footing, the rest is just a nice add-on
7:43 Caesar also has the ability to hypnotize as he hypnotized a girl in the battle against Joseph.
It's pretty confirmed that Goutouge was inspired a little by JoJo for Demon Slayer. So yes, Breathing Style is basically Hamon Ripoff
I believe the mangaka did say that one of her main inspirations was Jojo's Phantom Blood.
I think I heard that breathing styles was based off hamon
I mean he probably keeps the soap off his skin/clothes with hamon
We can also take into account the scene at the beginning of part 2 where Straizo killed like 5 people with a single hamon attack. That's powerful as hell. It could even rival many powerful stands.
*Nah - Joseph tried to use Hamon to destroy a weaker Stand (Empress) and Enya laughed and said that Hamon wouldn't be able to do anything to it.*

Honestly, I’d love a rewrite with hamon for all the parts!
The best Hamon ability was the Zoom Punch. The ultimate fisting technique.
Ah yes, the predecessor to STAR FINGER
I always thought that hermit purple was similar in nature to Pearl Jam whereas if you have the potential to be a stand user and attain proficiency in a craft or field you’ll get a stand to fit your abilities
4:58 "They're still are really cool tho"
This time I can't even blame METAs for that bad grammar, that was entirely the editor's fault.
Hahaha yea me grammer hard and not good sometimes
What about the time Ceaser hypnotize that woman to kick Joseph ass

Hamon is the jack of all trades MANY abilities that if they could touch stands would defeat lots of stands
1. Healing yourself and Allies
2. Increased stamina to insane levels ( Joseph and ceaser were climbing the oil tower for many HOURS ) overall they can’t get tired as long as the lungs is fine
3. Increased life span and slowed aging
4. Being able to transmite the Hamon energy through basically most materials to make Hamon blasts that are basically grenade (Jonathan was able to do that)
5. Increased strength to insane levels if Jonathan strength was in the stand scale I think he would be a B maybe A Jonathan was able to break STEEL collars the amount of raw strength of that feat is INSANE Star platinum with A is able to break diamonds
6. Insane levels of speed reaction Joseph was able to avoid straizo point blank laser eyes
7. Being able to completely manipulate liquids Lisa Lisa was able to create to water pillars to jump , plus walking on water
8. Being able to create a shield that can even stops machine guns with just hair / you can basically have some fur on your pocket for a insta bunker
9. Brainwash and mind reading
10. Being able to see the future
Hamon is not weak at all most stands can’t have this many abilities they only lose to the strongest stands overall
13:46 that prowler theme made me laugh more than I should have lmao
1:04 I swear! Everytime I hear sun breathing from demon slayer I randomly think about Hamon!
As a hamon warrior myself i can confirm that hamon is underrated
Yes he's the ultimate life form but to see hamon be able to do that, it stands to reason that someone could develop their hamon offensively enough to cause severe burns though nowhere near as potent as Kars obviously,
It would be cool to have hamon take you on a forked road.
But then Esidisi shouldn't have been able to predict Joseph's line during their fight since yk, the pillarman allergy to a funny breathing technique
Fun fact : this man waving dressed as joseph with hermith purple at the minute 0:47 is actually the current president of Brazil, his name is Lula
You know I wonder if part of the reason Jonathan was so hard to take over is cause he had 2 peoples worth of Hamon in him - it was enough for a stand to manifest after being poked by the Arrow afterall. . .
But yeah, Hamon has alot of side abilities that imply that its basically a form of electricity - you can manipulate magnetics, liquids, etc with it
The mind reading is probably a form of manipulating ones bioelectricity (which hamon might be a supernatural extension of)
Its also likely the Mind Reading is just an expression of Hermit Purple since it can interface with things to get information out of them - iirc didnt Dio kill Enyaba so she couldnt get interrogated?
Hamon: Breath air! You don't need a vape!
Hermit purple like stands aren’t just the end result of Hamon, but also divination tools determined by individuals same like stands.
caesar's hamon giving was much weaker than will's because will directly transfers his whereas caesar gave it in a bubble
Star Platinum with Hermit Purple is an OP version of a Stone Free
I love the editing in this video man. Let alone, I'm happy to see someone putting RESECT on hamon users. Thanks again for another great video METAS. Criminally underrated youtuber who deserves way ore subs.
I loved Hamon and the whole martial arts vibe of part 2.
Giving all your hamon to someone probably kills you. so thats why its only used when near death
Jolyne might have been S tier if she had been able to use Hamon. She could have channeled it through her stand's strings for attack power, repaired fibers of Stone Ocean for additional self healing, and maybe even seen White Snake's user in time to do something with the information
Now I wanna see a character with Hamon, Stand, and Spin abilities. Imagine how OP he will be.
Stand parts are monster of the week
I don't dislike stand parts, but 1 and 2 just feel more cohesive and gripping
Y'know, the idea of having multiple Stands sounds pretty awesome!
If hermit purple is a stand from hamon. Maybe ceaser wouldve had an ability like soft and wet from hamon bubbles
joseph had precog from his natural hamon ability, he just never got very good with it and used it to predict people's words and actions moments in the future

So, Based on that. Kars hamon stand would likely be equal to GER or beyond.
I dunno it would just be hermit purple but a stupid op version GER beat a future seeing user before
I'd say Ultimate Kars's actual stand would probably be that level but the super Hermit Purple alone wouldn't
one more thing to consider with the jotaro having hamon scenario: imagine you have to dodge both star platinum AND jotaro at the same time.
jotaro lets star platinum fight for him because he can't damage stands, but we sometimes see him attacking stand users directly, like when he decked josuke in the face.
now imagine jotaro has all the abilities of hamon and hermit purple, this means that not only is star platinum a threat, but so is jotaro, as now his own punches can damage stands.
also it is important to mention ultimate kars in any discussion about the potential power of hamon, his hamon was so powerful he could shoot laser beams that can cleanly sever a persons arm and, if amplified by the red stone of aija, had enough power to cause a volcanic eruption.
Dio being overflowed by Star Platinum and Jotaro with hamon
I agree it's underrated
And I loved Hamon
But to be fair.. Its really only good for beating vampires
Like yeah it has a single healing ability, but a hamon user is no more of a threat to a stand user then a regular guy who knows martial arts
Its very possible hamon does have more combat abilities we just never saw
But all the ones we DID see specifically work on the undead
I don't think I'm undead.. So
I can punch a hamon user and survive
I don't think my fist would even touch Jotaro before I'm turned to paste
I love Hamon
And I love stands
They fill different niches
And if the hamon turns to stand theory is true
Then yeah hamon is so much more powerful then most realise
I'm guessing you either never read the Part 1 manga, or you watched the anime a long time ago.
Bro that intro was fire 🔥
Or silver chariot gains a vibration blade, instakilling dio in his sneak attack
And most importantly... the UNBLOCKABLE EMERALD SPLASH
I would like to see Joseph use hamon more but crusaders ➕ hamon would make part 3 much easier means it would be boring
If Jotaro had Hermit Purple, he would have defeated Pucci AND saved Jolyne at the same time. He could pulled Jolyne out of the knifes way with Hermit Purple and still get within range to beat Pucci with the Stand Rush
"So its the same type of stand as star platinum"
In the JOJO: Eyes Of Heaven game, Where Johnathan meets his descendants we’re surprised by his strength and somewhat glad that he didn’t have stand
Josuke with Crazy Diamond and literally any Hamon abilities would be absolutely cracked
On the topic of hamon, what would it do to a fictional species that either absorbs sunlight or feeds on sunlight?
Hamon actually had so many abilities that would end up being a part of stands later. Hamon can do so much with what it touches, but also it makes you super human strong.
When I first started part three I was kinda disappointed with stands because of how basic I thought they were compared to hamon, it's also the reason that part two is my favorite part.
Maby you can even have 3 stands with the stand arrow hamon and the spin
METAs: I love Part 1 and Part 2, and their power system, Hamon.
Also METAs: Sunset Yellow Overdrive
During part 8 we briefly see alt universe young Joseph, and he has a Humanoid hermit purple. So maybe if Joseph had kept up his hamon training he would have achieved something similar
The crazy thing about Josuke is, that he isn't physicly like Jotaro or Joseph, but his thinking and iteligence is that of Joseph. And his Stand is Star Platinum without his precision, but with a alchemie component. It's almost like he also inherited the hamon part of Joseph.
There is like a light novel called rey infinito which actually involves lisa lisa using hamon to beat up stand users
It's a novel so not Canon, but it's interesting how a Hamon user can fight a stand user
@@il3fortunato664 it’s not technically canon but it is nice read and if any hamon user could beat a stand user with pure hamon it would be Lisa Lisa
Given the nose dive in physical feats for stands after part 3 it's safe to say most hamon users would fold most stand users out side of specific hax/close range stands
