Ian rolled through Pine Island/ Matlacha a couple years ago and after that was supposed to be the 100yr storm and the high water mark we did the mitigation and drywall removal,, adding a new roof too boot on our bayside ranch, now with Milton flooding us with twice the water I'm scheduling the property for demolition because doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity

People are very naïve when it comes to buildings nowadays... in the Swiss alps for example you have ancient buildings lasting through all natural disasters... just the winter snow is off the charts. If you build wooden houses on the coast you may as well get a boat.

I truly understand why people want to leave, mother nature is not stable with climate changing, but be safe.

It's a financial thing too... home insurance rates may match home mortgage payments. Every home owner will pay.

Weather, taxes, home insurance, anti-woke government, alligators, HOA fees, attacks on education, flood insurance…….I’ve lived in 5 countries, and 12 states. I have been in east Kansas for 19 years. Had to replace my roof shingles twice. My property taxes are higher than I like, but the value of my home has more than doubled and my home insurance is $139.00 per month on $355k.
