Got a Stihl 460 Magnum, used, got it out of a pawn shop 20 plus years ago, had to show it some love, running a 24 -- 25 inch bar, never had to do nothing to motor, just try and take care of my saws, Even got a used Husky 575 XP, a beast too. Gotta show the Husky a little love again, but my 460 is still clucking along, cut a lot of good size wood with it. Been a great saw. You do a great job, keep at it. I'm in MS Be safe

I do the same thing….rev up, and wait to see chainoil flying off the bar before starting to cut. I throw used oil thru the saw oiler, and adjust for a heavier flow, for plenty of lubrication. i like 460s there strong even stock i have 2 oem ones the problem with mine are the crank barings went on both of mine so if any one rebuilds bottom ends on these id use best crank bearings you can get so iv been stuck useing the trusty 372 id like to get my hands on a 064 not many left theres tons of 066 and 660s

Tin man do you have any experience with the west coast saws barkbox? If so what were your thoughts was there a noticeable gain in power if so where was it high low in the rpm range? Just curious was thinking about getting one !!
Hey, if that is the original starter, ( the powerstroke isnt hard on starters ), it may not have the water/ condensation drain on it. In your conditions, the bendix area held moisture inside, freezing ice crystals causing no crank symptoms. The drain Which is a small rubber tube like a kazoo end on it. Had to replace hundreds of those starters when they were brand new. Any replacement starter has been redesigned. Thanks for sharing your knowledge & life up there with us.
I have a 2000 f250 7.3, 245,000 miles on it same stater, I almost can’t believe it, but then my 1982 ford 4610 tractor with 4400 hrs also has the same starter! Got lucky I guess
I love your channel, so much good 2 stroke information. On an unrelated question, I own a proulan Pro pr48bt blower that has around 30psi compression and will not start. I am having difficulty finding a cylinder/piston kit that will fit it. Are there any after market ones you know of that can work? Thanks
Merry Christmans Tinman! Clean MS461 build! Learned a lot from you and built a cheap chinese saw into a usable product! I also rebuilt a MS200 knockoff cylinder, checked the port timing and dimensions but they are pretty much the same, only exhaust 96 degree instead of stihls 98 degree. Advanced the ignition timing, now it picks up really fast! Great little saw! Will also upgrade my MS361 further already advanced the timing 7 degrees, will doing the muffler mod next and maybe base gasket delete. Any suggestions from your side for the 361?🙂 I love the Stihls though!

Dead elm is narley to hand split.
In my area the elm is so tuff you can’t split it at all not even with a log splitter it won’t come apart
