Tinman, I just finished up a ms440 I put a 460 big bore cylinder on it so it's 82 cc. My numbers after porting were 100 exh, 120 transfers and 77 intake. It' doesn't spit back and it runs and cuts as good as a stock MS660.
Great information. Used to work long hours to pay bills. My daughter was born, years later I have grandkids…..I still got bills but my soul feels fuller. Take care.
I love watching your channel! I’ve been watching all your how to vids the past few month’s trying to better understand how to port. I’m a climber. I’ve learned to splice and thanks to your channel and some other how to vids I know now a terd saw can be an amazing saw. Any how,, thank you and I look forward to the adventures that lie ahead!
I’ll be real interested in how it turn out. My brother mark ported a Hyway big bore cylinder for my 460 that I built. Not sure what the numbers are but you could contact him if you are interested. I hungrily gobbles up any thing I throw at it. It’s not a rpm saw an that what I was looking for. 28” bar and it has one of his pipes.
Stihl 029 . Big bore kit 49mm. Have you tried any Duke parts . Should i stick with Hyway or Meteor . Nikasil plated ? , some do not say what they are plated with . It is a firewood cutter , but i would like to try some porting maybe . Would it be worth buying a cheap kit to learn on . Any crank shafts to stay away with . Looks like most of the aftermarket cylinders need some opening up to run well at all. Would it be worth it to but a cheap aftermarket complete engine and do work on it for my first time or just throw an aftermarket cylinder on mine . If this goes well then may try something with my MS441 or find a used pro saw to build . A new pro saw is out of my budget. . Thanks for sharing your info and i enjoy watching .
Hi tinman I did a base gasket delete on a johnsered 2186 that I rebuilt I only put a layer of moto seal on the case not any on the cylinder do you think that was a mistake the saw runs awesome no issues yet

You are so welcome!
Small variations but very interesting how much different the #'s are on the big bore! If anything I'd assume they'd be off in the other direction.
Interesting work Tinman, using a timing wheel makes precise work.
Woohoo! Stihl content! 🤟😎
Better numbers than my 660 big bore kit.

Thank you im looking at one now
Thanks for that discount code!
Do saw builders do big bore and porting on the same saw? I only see one or the other never both, What is better?
Is The Meteor Piston Magnesium Like The Stock Stihl Piston 😐😀
Hey has anyone heard how harvey is doing? Thanks for the video.
Hey tinman I have a question about clamshell saws I have recently done a big bore and the compression is not good is there any way of increasing it?
