Hell remember before the 2000s when anybody had a brain new damn well not the photograph your acts at all or better yet didn't meddle in these type of affairs.
@Roger Loquitur Sure you can. Ford pardoned Nixon before he ever got charged. Carter pardoned all the Vietnam War draft dodgers, so those thousands of men wouldn't ever be charged in the first place. It would have been not just possible, but completely legal, for Trump to pardon all the rioters. Thank goodness his advisors talked him out of it.
Everyone says revolution. It's become almost meaningless like saying freedom, rights, our values, and America's the greatest country in the world. But when you have molotov or guns and restraints, that's what makes it an actual threat. Or as Pelosi would say "a beautiful sight."
Most common comment from the defense lawyers right now : "My client is not going to do it again and would just love to get on with their life. They were just caught in the moment and didn't really mean it."
I remember talking to my dad after this happened. He was sad because his lawn guy turned out to be one of the guys arrested. "I always knew he was weird, but he always did a good job with the yard... Don't tell your mom!"

To be fair, there were a bunch of people protesting outside who didn't try to force their way into the capital. In that regard, they are correct. But it doesn't change the fact there are people who did in fact use violence, force their way in, and commit various crimes.
I bet they didn't see it the same with the blm protests. The peaceful ones that unlike the capitol riots, were in response towards injustice. Ah the double standards and ignoring of context conservatives play with.
In the end, this was nothing compared to the entire "summer of love". The one person who died was shot by an official. The damage does not add up to the damage caused by the left in all other instances and they have all evaded justice.
@@keiharris332 Obviously. You're comparing one riot to multiple riots. As for arrests and justice, it was really easy for this one because people were "smart" enough to livestream or post their crimes.

My brother, a judge's clerk, heard a defense lawyer after, his client was convicted, say "good, he's guilty as hell." Still put up a good defense, but he was happy to lose.
I like the clip of that woman saying it's a revolution and acting shocked about getting maced. Hey lady, do you know what happens to revolutionaries in other countries?!
What's hilarious is it was shown she was rubbing an onion on her eyes. She was never maced. Mace also doesn't look like that - sure didn't during our OC training courses or during any protests we've ever seen.
"Whether they intended to do it or not." What's the test? A: "I didn't intend to invade the capitol." Q: "Did you trip on the sidewalk and fall up the stairs and through the window?"
Playing devil's advocate, I suppose there were likely some who simply went at the president's behest for what they imagined was a peaceful protest, which should be within their rights, to shout about a stolen election or some other fictitious thing, but the crowd then decided to storm the capitol. I can only see this applying to those that didn't go inside though.

It’s fascinating to watch this almost 18 months after the events. Most people have been charged, and pled guilty to, some variations of illegally entering and staying in the Capitol, vandalism, etc. People on video actually attacking police have faced more serious charges for those violent crimes. And we’re increasingly seeing leaders of groups like the Proud Boys and Oathkeepers charged with…seditious conspiracy! It’s been frustrating to watch the very slow progress of DOJ working their way through the indictments, but starting with the lower level offenders and working their way to the top is them going by the book. They just had to deal with hundreds of different cases and many thousands of hours of video footage and social media traffic to sort through.
Too bad he's a typical California liberal, instead of taking a neutral stance like I would expect a real lawyer to do. I'll just move out of California, and to another state where I will keep voting left because things will be different this time!" And for anyone who wants to shine some hate my way, look at California. Look at it hard. California is what you get from socialist democracy. Remember kids, California has not been a red state since like 1992. Democrats have had the run of everything in California for almost 30 years. So if you like what you see in California, keep voting left everywhere and we can have our entire nation be just like California.

Hi Alexander, Agreed! And about "sheep", I would say that where there are sheep there is usually a shepherd. While we always rightfully retain the ability for critical thinking, we generally look to people and sources that we believe are knowledgeable and trustworthy for the facts we need to help shape our thinking. In that context, if people who identify as "conservative" insist, I am O.K. w/ calling these people and sources "shepherds", and myself a "sheep". But I would say to conservatives that they too have their shepherds. I would say that however/whatever we identify as, it is critical for us as individuals and as a nation that we choose our shepherds carefully.
That’s why they go muddy up the rhetoric by calling others NPCs instead of sheep but I don’t see a difference. Cult groups like to cheat with semantics by making up new terms

When murder is committed during a crime, often everyone involved in the crime gets charged with murder. Why isn't everyone involved getting charged with murder?
Because you need to willfully aid the perpetrator in order to get charged as a co-conspirator. It would be quite hard to demonstrate that everyone here willfully wanted to aid the murderer (I suppose you refer to the policeman killed).
I think that's called the 'felony murder rule', which is pretty much what you said, and it applies to felony crimes. So everyone that is charged with the same felony is on the hook for the murders. However LegalEagle said so far the charges have been pretty light, like 'tresspassing', so it's a wait-and-see if the prosecutors add felony charges
Not everyone involved in the crime, just everyone who committed certain dangerous felonies in connection with the death. There are other caveats too, like that the death must not be too remote from the felony, and that the felony must not be a form of homicide (since otherwise manslaughter would always automatically be murder). It's frankly a ridiculous law when you think about it. If I beat someone with a tire iron to "teach them a lesson," and they end up dying, I have not committed murder, because I was not trying to kill them. I have only committed manslaughter. But if I threaten someone with a tire iron and take their wallet, and they attack me and die in the fight, I have committed felony murder. It's only if I _didn't_ intend to hurt them that my charge might get upgraded. As a final note, there is a slim chance that these people would still be guilty of _constructive manslaughter,_ which is basically the misdemeanor equivalent of the felony murder rule. It might cover, for instance, if I leapt suddenly into the road in front of a car (misdemeanor jaywalking), and as a result, the car swerved and crashed and the driver died. (I would also be liable for civil damages, of course.) For this to apply, the misdemeanor law must have been written with the intention of protecting human life. It would not apply to destruction of property or trespassing.
@@EebstertheGreat doesnt that count every rioter though? if they didnt attack the capital committing felonies in the process then the murderers wouldnt have been able to kill the cop

Hi Alexander, Agreed! And about "sheep", I would say that where there are sheep there is usually a shepherd.
