A true art to take a phone caller and turn it around into a great bit, with the help of the W-ennnbeeeceee reverb!

The other guy with "The Real Bob James" in this video is the great Jim Collins. He was a true radio legend God Rest his soul.

Loved the oldies stations that had reverb … oldies 103 in Boston had a similar effect

LOVED it when WNBC switched to "oldies" on the overnight and weekends. Wish they had done it sooner. So much for G.E. "bringing good things to life".

@@ApartmentKing66 I remember Imus getting pissed off on the air one morning because they forgot to turn the Echo Plate reverb off when his show started and his first 45 minutes of his show was in reverb and it was making him crazy. I think this was when he was still drinking...

The Real Bob James, great friend of mine from his days at the BIG 1220. Smokin here on 66. BTW, do the Broadview Hts. Police still hold policeman's balls?

"The Real ______(insert name here) belongs to ONLY The Real Don Steel in LA (reel rhymes with steel, get it?). They also pirated WABC Chime Time, WABC-Degrees (which makes no sense without the "A," the alphabet doesn't go, "N B C D E F G..."), WABC 60's era "Go-Go jingle package, and a bunch of other minor stuff. No wonder AM died... not an original idea in sight.

I had a chance to talk with WNBC PD Dale Parson about the format and what they were doing and he said that this was "no rip-off" or "pale imitation", it was a very carefully crafted tribute to the WABC of the 60's. I heard that several of the old 'ABC jocks enjoyed listening to WNBC and appreciated the effort Parsons and his jocks made. In this case, imitation was truly the sincerest form of flattery.

@@markcarbonaro6524 Why didn't WNBC hire the former WABC DJs to do the Oldies formatted Time Machine radio shows? Dan Ingram was available at this time 1987 through to October 7,1988 when WNBC was sold to become sportsradio 66 WFAN.

This was when radio was creative and well done. Everything now is jock in a box. Voice tracked and computers. Awful!
