BTW: There was a vocal version of this in which where a group sings "Part of Your living...Part of your life.....Make it a part of your life..." that advertised what time the news came on during commercial breaks from local tv programs or movies. Sounded really pleasant because it was at a slower tempo.
I must have missed that one, having left Tampa in '76. KXAS Channel 5 in Fort Worth/Dallas used it in the mid-'70s but I can recall hearing it only once, when I was out there for a weekend while my parents looked for a house (besides, I was partial to Channel 8 (ABC)).
Actually, this was around 1974-75 - it was at that point that this "We're Part of Your Life" slogan first came on board. Prior to then, WNBC called itself "Your Community Minded Station."
I found out from watching a TV program on WNED here in Buffalo that WGR(before adding the Z) used this theme at one time for their "NewsCenter 2" newscast.
Sadly, they never used that Mayoham Music theme to open and close each broadcast of "NewsCenter4," not even incorporating the NBC Chimes into that theme.
Most definitely 1974, as WNBC introduced "LIVE AT FIVE" that April- New York's first two-hour late afternoon/early evening newscast, from 5-7pm- and were "pushing" Chuck Scarborough when he became anchor of that newscast.
KPHO-TV5 Phoenix used the Part of Your Life campaign, when it was then an independent station in 1977, as did KCMO-TV5 Kansas City (Now KCTV5) WNEM-TV5 Bay City-Saginaw-Flint-Midland, Michigan and WTVH 5 Syracuse, New York. This was a fun to use package, and can be heard on Southern Media's News Music Search Archive Website.
WHEN (Ch. 5) in Syracuse used the same style promos in 1975, so '74 for WNBC sounds about right (it was always strange traveling to some other part of the country and seeing the same type of local station promo package in your home market being used elsewhere, when the stations weren't owned by the same company. Later on in the 70s, I remember the same "11 Alive!" jingle WPIX in New York was using showing up on Ch. 2 in Salt Lake City).

They used the same slogan in the mid 70s on WBRZ- TV Ch. 2 in Baton Rouge, liked it then & I still like it now.
If you lived in Scranton/Wilkes- Barre, this was the theme to WBRE NBC-28 Eyewitness News with Frank Coslett, Keith Martin, and Jerry Baum
This has been my favorite news jingle since the 70s. Channel 8 news in Tampa had this jingle and it fit so well with that news team.

I've got that entire news package theme on my laptop computer.

Apparently, some stations were using "Part of Your Life" as early as 1970.
But I seem to notice Chuck Scarborough on this promo - and he joined WNBC in 1974.
I really like this. This would have made for an excellent open. Just put in city shots and your're done.
Let's not forget, add NBC chimes into the mix too
Who was that older woman in the promo? Was she on air talent? That reel of her laughing is awesome!

WCTV Thomasville, Georgia/Tallahassee, Florida used Part Of Your Life as well.
That's funny, both stations also used the "Your Community Minded Station" slogan.

Chuck Scarborough was news anchor at WNAC (now-WHDH) in Boston before coming to WNBC.

Also, WKRC uses the part of your life theme for its sign on and sign off of the broadcast day.
This was also used by KAKE-TV 10 Wichita for their newscasts in the 70s
KPHO-TV (Ch. 5 ind. now CBS-TV) in Phoenix, AZ used this as the intro to their 'Eyewitness news Midday" at 11:30 a.m. around August, 1977.

@LeroyBright I recall, living in Louisiana, that Baton Rouge's WBRZ(Channel 2) used this theme in 1978-79 for their "Eyewitness News" broadcasts.
Neat And Balanced!! Not Tentative!! A Solid 6!!
Can you tell me what year that aired on NBC 4 NYC and give me a comment
1974-75, they added a Trapezoid N for NBC logo on New Year's Day 1976
