Careful... Tool will pull you in and change your life...
So very true ❤
Please listen to the studio version Sir it is a masterpiece!
The song also makes several references to the work of Carl Jung. The concept of the shadow self is one he defined in his work. The shadow self being that which one MUST confront before evolving themselves.
Being aware you're not aware of all your subconscious awareness, you unconsciously, become more consciously aware that your non-aware awarenesses to awareness makes you more aware of what your consciousness is not aware of.... Or something like that. 🤔🙃
You couldn't have picked a worst recording to listen to for your first time. I always recommend listening to the studio version first so you can get with. They wanted people to hear initially
The issue is the studio version of most songs are more likely to get copyright claimed and even muted
@Joel Castro-Reyes all they have to do is pause. Which he did. And this was a fan suggestion. He didn't pick it. TOOL Army can do better.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner Preach brother!! I can't stand these trash live recordings that people think are decent. I include that shitty MTV "pro shot" Sober song as well. Sounds like it was recorded in a fking trash can.
The only exception to this is the "Non Existent DVD" some dude on YTube put together. He remastered the sound and you can tell.
These versions only sound decent to us because we already know the song and there's sentimental value. None of these were released by the band for very good reason.
Having people react to cell phone recordings... What are we even doing?
@illuminahde absolutely 💯 the Non-existent Jambi DVD 🤘 & the Salival 3rd Eye video are the only ones worth a shit. I don't know how many times I've watched a "1st ever TOOL reaction" to that horrible Sober in concert. 🤦♂️ and even when we are simply reminiscing, they still sound like crap.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner Yep. I swear it's like they don't want anyone else to like the band. Lol
You are a very wise man. I appreciate that.
Lyrics are a must with TOOL
Well done. You figured it out. I'm impressed.
Not so hard
The internet is full of the meaning of these lyrics.
A little digging before doing a reaction is so transparent.
Dude, you are super smart, you catch on with them way better than most for the first time.......well done!!!
My favorites by Tool
Correct, Danny IS the Goat!
Now check out kids covering this song. It's amazing. O'Keefe Music Foundation.
These live versions just don't do them justice! Always go with the studio version if possible.
I saw this in concert in Pensacola when a fucked up gallbladder…
Yeah, it was well worth being sick over
This is my favorite all time song besides Aenima itself. The whole Album is just ground breaking. The Intermission songs are strange but all experiences the Band or Maynard himself had and they recorded it and put it on the Album.
Yes the 46 and 2 theory
i like the kick drums at the end danny added
Listen to "H." by Tool. It's my favorite song of their's. I have only seen 2, maybe 3, reactors to that song and it's so underrated. Don't look for it live though. I don't think they've ever performed it live. I would love to hear what your analysis of the meaning is. Tool leaves a lot up for interpretation and this one has a definitive meaning but can be interpreted much differently.
I don’t think he actually means physically evolve. He means his mental state. To evolve from where he’s at…to something better. Get rid of negative behaviors that operate like muscle-memory. Becomes more compassionate. More self-aware. Things of that nature. The concept of 46&2 is being used as a metaphor.
He never said physically.
@@windog551 I know. I was just commenting on what I thought maynard was trying to say.
This isn't from little over a year ago. I saw them in February in New Orleans 🤔2022 at Smoothie King Arena, they have a Veil Screen in front of them, with graphics and lighting, really wild. Seen them four times, this looks like 15 years ago time frame. ALSO, I agree, should react to the studio version. This is kinda Bootleg recording, live video, engineer board maybe ? Hard song to play either way.
I'll wait for the studio version to watch.
2 minutes ago? First one in! Sure it will be great lol :)
This song is too good to not listen to the studio version first
Agreed
46 refers to how every one has 2 sets of 23 chromosomes. Adding chromosomes can be traced to species evolving- so the title 46 & 2 represents the next step in our evolution as humans
I think our next stage of evolution might be like, our legs are going to shrivel away and wither and our stomachs will become big bulgy diabeetees sacks
The next stage of evolution is mental........
Why in the world would you pick a live version for the first time you're hearing a song?
Try the studio version maybe?
A true example of, One Of A Kind Track !!
Every human being at the least should listen, try to grasp and fathom this completely.
XOX
I forgot that you do reactions to live versions, for some weird reason.
Pick these scabs bruh🖤
I'm not sure what it is with you and these live recordings, but the second I click on the video and see that it's a live video I'm probably exiting out. Other than that, I enjoy your content
Ugh. Like someone recorded it on their Nokia5175. Do it over on the studio. Also, check out the cover of this done by "The O'Keefe foundation" which is a bunch of kids that did and unbelievable version of it.
I do appreciate live versions ... However I feel that produced live versions go a very long way in quality verses live versions grabbed by a cell phone ... There is a very interesting lyric version on RUclips that takes some of Carl Jung's theories/thoughts and overlays those on the screen during the instrumental moments of the song ...

Why not just use the studio version.
Yeah this live shit sucks.
I agree!
i was excited and then saw it was live and not studio. unfortunate
Why did you choose a live performance?

Even though i came for an tool reaction..... If youve seen Trading places NO WAY!
Bummer. He chose a live version.
Not sure why people choose live versions. TOOL does not video tape their concerts so you get these videos from mobile phones with no sound depth and well just bad recordings that damage the bands reputation because then people say they didn’t like the song or band. This is terrible
Maynard's Voice isn't the best on this. I think he was sick on this tour. You should listen to the studio version much clearer.
Why do people suggest these crappy fan videos? This one is decent but please listen to the original some time.
Sorry but this shoddy recording has to be the worst way to experience this song. Didn't you cover the kids cover? (lol) I'd recommend that 1000% before this - mostly because the relationship between the music & Maynard's voice needs to be way clearer for nuance & full effect.
horrible recording
The sound on this video is terrible. Please go listen to something that's not recorded through someone's phone.
imo the next stage of evolution is already here with autism, most i've met both verbal and non verbal are insanely intelligent, just not by our norms. Incredibly emotionally intelligent and pick up on energy's very easily.
