So cool that you are reading Jung when you did this song! This was the song that got me into Tool. The rabbit hole is vast. Also: One of the coolest Drop-D riffs for guitar ever.
The album this is from is dedicated to the comedian Bill Hicks, who died of pancreatic cancer in '92 at only 32 years old. Artwork in the album represents him, and several songs include references from his material, particularly the songs Aenima, Third Eye, and Eulogy.
I never found Bill to be as funny as some of his peers at the time, but I was utterly fascinated with his mind and how he put things together or saw the world. His routines were more of a lecture from an incredible professor who was also funny to me. Him and Carlin were philosophers that seemed to use stand-up as their way to communicate in a way people would understand.
Hit the nail on the head with the Carl Jung reference! 46 & 2 referencing our chromosomes and basically evolving into a higher being. I think you'd love "Parabol/Parabola" (it's two songs but gotta listen to them together : ) "Reflection" is also a very good one, it's not heavy but the lyrics are awesome.
A friend of mine was neighbors with Danny Carrey years and years ago in Hollywood, at the first apartment building where Tool practiced and built a studio. About ten years ago my friend reached out to Danny, and he hooked us up with tickets to the sold out Tool show at Staples Center on the day of the show. Not too long after that I went to see Maynard’s other band, Puscifer, at their first ever live show at The Palms in Las Vegas. What a crazy show. Anyway…. My girlfriend and I were having dinner at the fancy restaurant in the hotel before the show, and it was completely empty. Then in walks Danny and his wife, and they sat not too far from us. I didn’t want to bother them, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, so I introduced myself, mentioned my friend and the tickets he hooked us up with, thanked him and told him how much his music meant to me. He was the nicest guy.

46 & 2 a reference to the human DNA, making a jump in evolution. How it relates to the song, is that it's about someone dissatisfied with their current situation and wanting to undergo a spiritual evolution. Tool recommendations: Stinkfist, Aenima, Eulogy, Schism, Vicarious, Cold & Ugly (live), Parabol/Parabola (listen together), Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)/Rosetta Stoned (listen together recommended; lost keys adds context to Rosetta Stoned's subject matter)

I hope you continue this journey together - you guys get it. My absolute favorite Tool song. Love Amber’s stank face when the heavy kicked in. Now that you’ve heard this, you must listen to the cover by the kids at O’Keefe Music Foundation. All the kids do an amazing job, but the standouts are the singer Kala Rose, who was 11 or 12 at the time and now has her own band called Saving Escape, and the drummer (whose name I don’t know) He definitely channeled Danny Carrey. Watch it soon while the song is still fresh in your mind. You will be blown away.
A remarkable Tool 🎵 composition that I highly recommend exploring is "Right in Two." It is a powerful and impactful piece with profound and thought-provoking lyrics.
And i love pushit for this reason - it’s so emotional. I think it’s easy to attribute lyrics to our personal experiences and to actual others, but when you think on you like ya’ll have, you see it’s him talking to his shadow and his unhealed child in there. It’s so beautiful.
Danny is my favourite drummer too Amber🤘 ...he's a lot of peoples favourite drummer, he's actually a lot of drummers favourite drummer due to his extraordinary skill level and understanding of time signatures in grooves. In the drumming world Danny is ranked right up there, easy in the top 10 best ever drummers for most

Hey guys… if you like Tool, you're gonna be stunned by the Kids at OKeefe Music Foundation. Its the real school of rock. Kids 7-17 They are So good, the band, Tool went to the school when they heard the kids are playing their songs and were so blown away by these prodigies, that they've become mentors to the school.
There is crazy amount of songs from Tool and if I were to try and twist your arms I would think you 2 would get a huge reaction from their song “Right In Two”. Truly a human turmoil type message in it but oh so powerful.
Every Tool song is incredible. This is not an exaggeration, they don’t have a bad song. Check out H, Jimmy, Parabol and Parabola (you have to do the 2 songs together), and The Grudge. You can pick any Tool song and it’s going to be good. Great reaction as always!
4:56 - imagining the Amber of 4 years ago seeing herself make the stank face to Tool four years later! She'd be like "Is that me?!? What's happened to that version of me in the last 4 years?!?" Well, your husband's friend is going to recommend starting your reaction channel, then your husband will invite you to be part of it, then both of your musical worlds will be widened to a degree you never imagined!
Tool will forever hold a special place in my heart, my Ex loved them and introduced me to them. Even though we weren't together anymore we still had love for one another and he just passed away on March 8th. This is one song I listened to a lot as I knew he was transitioning to another plane of existence, a new life, shedding his skin so to speak.
Tool is on another level of deep from almost anything else... except maybe Maynard's other bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. For more Tool: Invincible, Aenima, Bottom, Schism, Jambi, The Pot, Wings For Marie, Right in Two, The Grudge... There really are so many classics! For a slightly softer tone try A Perfect Circle (same singer/lyricist): Judith, Disillusioned, The Contrarian, Magdelana, 3 Libras, Blue, Weak & Powerless, etc. For a more mellow band, Puscifer (again same singer/lyricist): Grand Canyon, Apocalyptical, Remedy, Bedlamite... list goes on.
No accidents! This synchronicity has got me hyped right now. Not only did you guys finally come back to two of my all time favorites (Teena and Tool), but on the same day, despite them being on different ends of the musical spectrum...And at a time when I've been probing these existential questions more deeply than ever. I was raised on soul and RnB, and a little pop/rock. But then I went off to college and heard 46 and 2. A Tool fan was born that day. Please check out The Pot. Guaranteed stank face! Love you guys!
It's really incredible. I was SERIOUSLY into Tool throughout the 90s. Their sound/style really satisfies that craving for a dark, heavy, rough experience but everything about their work is sooo intelligent and miles above most every other group working in similar genres and themes. Maynard turned 60 this year, bless him. Such a great voice. I also like his work in A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Makes some good wine too, available through his outlet "Caduceus Cellars". The Sangiovese Nagul del Marzo Rosé is great on a Summer day.
Yassssssssss!!! TOOOOOOOOOOLLLL Been waiting for ya'll to really get into them and I might just witnessed it all click!! The Pot! The Grudge! Third Eye! Lateralus, Parabola, Intolerance, Descending! But seriously 》》》ALLLLLLL the songs!!! Thanks for the joy you always bring!
I was introduced to tool in middle school and have loved them for the last 20 years, so it's so fun to watch people discover their music and experience it for the first time. Great video ❤
I always recommend listening to tool by first listening to the song with no lyrics-just get that visceral first feel, then listen again with the lyrics-the song always gets better and hits harder once you see the incredible meaning behind the lyrics.
I rarely leave comments, but you two are embarking on an incredible journey getting into Tool's work. Their discography is full of gems just like this one. I would recommend "Lateralus" for their next song and make sure you have the lyrics on hand. They're super impressive. Great video and be prepared to Spiral Out!!!❤❤❤
Guilty pleasure, watching people wake up to TOOL, it makes me happy. Can’t help but have a huge smile when the buildup of the song crescendos and seeing others go for it. Keep going down the rabbit hole. Schism, stinkfist, the patient, parabol/ parabola, look into those but of course you could just listen to each album all the way through.
Those kids rock this song. I also love their cover of Black Label Society Crazy Horse Version 2 is the same girl from 46 and 2 all grown up. She did the dream theater cover too.

I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart because when I watch your videos your reactions I genuinely feel like I'm hearing and seeing a reaction from good people and I think that the world is missing genuinely good people and it just makes me happy when your reactions in it and although I don't have a hard life I don't really get a lot of Happiness out of life and I just want to thank you for doing what you do because it's not a big thing but it's just those little things in life that make you happy and seeing you guys just makes me happy I don't know I just like feeling that the people at the RUclips videos I'm watching I just want to feel like they're good people and they're not just like bored by the music or they're just doing it for views that they actually like what they're doing and I get that from you guys and I'm happy and another thing is I wish and I know that the two of you will be together forever and you always be happy that's just the kind of energy and Vibes that you give off I know that's not always going to be true but just thank you again because there's a lot of RUclipsrs who think they're so great and they're kind of annoying and maybe it's just you're not stuck up or something I don't know and I also like that you're just not stuck to one genre like you don't just say I like rap music or I like R&B or I like country or I like bluegrass music or something if enough people tell you that you should listen to something you will and I also like like that I can tell you are not stupid people and that is one thing that I hate the most is stupid people who think they're so great and sorry for the long comment if you read it but I just have to tell you that I really like your reactions because I feel like your people that would be nice to me in real life
PLEASE go down the Tool rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed. SO many hits. Try Lateralus, Vicarious or The Pot. Really anything they do is amazing. Great reaction!
Both of you are SO sharp. This reaction was a joy to watch because you both got so much out of it. This is what the Tool army tunes in to see. I hope you continue this journey together - you guys get it.
PLEASE do a reaction to Lateralus and Parabol/Parabola (those last two are separate songs that have to be listened as one piece) Have the lyrics pulled up if you want your hair to stand on end as you listen 🎶
Spiral out 🌀
More tool ASAP!! I listen to several bands and Tool is the only band that has no single bad song in my opinion. So many masterpieces from one band. Great reaction guys! Can’t wait for me too! 🤘🌀
First time I heard this song I was in a tractor baling hay and I was hooked ! I also love me a whole lot of KORN !
This song is so damn good it brings tears to my eyes.
My son turned me on to Tool when he was in high school. Yalls' reaction is exactly how my was!
You guys are gonna have a lotta pleased subscribers and new ones as well the more you guys get into tools catalog, yall will love them!!
Schism , Jambi, Stinkfist , Prison Sex, 10,000 days and Rosetta Stoned are good ones ,but there's no bad Tool.
A remarkable Tool 🎵 composition that I highly recommend exploring is "Right in Two." It is a powerful and impactful piece with profound and thought-provoking lyrics.
They will LOVE IT
Now yall need to check out the okeef music foundation cover of this song it will blow yalls mind
Those kids rock this song! I love their cover of Crazy Horse (version 1) same girl as 46 and grown up.
Love you guys reactions!!! Oh please due more Tool!!! Seriously you will not be disappointed.
In the drumming world Danny is ranked right up there, easy in the top 10 best ever drummers for most
I’m a 64 yo Grandma & Tool is one of my favorite bands!! Their work is just amazing to me & I love to listen to their music at the end of a long day at work 👍🏼🔥🎤🎸🥁 Oh & YES please do the kids cover everyone is talking about!! It will blow your mind 😲
LOVE TOOL! My absolute favorite band now. Incredible musicianship and always thought provoking lyrics. Sober, The Pot, Stinkfist, Right in Two other greats. So many!! Thank you both. Love what you do!
Parabol/Parabola will blow your mind.
Hey guys… if you like Tool, you're gonna be stunned by the Kids at OKeefe Music Foundation.
Its the real school of rock. Kids 7-17
They are So good, the band, Tool went to the school when they heard the kids are playing their songs and were so blown away by these prodigies, that they've become mentors to the school.
Every. Song.
You have to do 'THE POT'...super catchy and all-round amazing
4:56 - imagining the Amber of 4 years ago seeing herself make the stank face to Tool four years later! She'd be like "Is that me?!? What's happened to that version of me in the last 4 years?!?"
Well, your husband's friend is going to recommend starting your reaction channel, then your husband will invite you to be part of it, then both of your musical worlds will be widened to a degree you never imagined!
Gotta listen to The Pot with lyric video.
Boom my favorite band 🎉
Tip top tier🎉 finally
Yassssssssss!!! TOOOOOOOOOOLLLL
Been waiting for ya'll to really get into them and I might just witnessed it all click!! The Pot! The Grudge!
Two of my favorite reactors, reacting to my favorite band! Beautiful
Btw, 46 & 2> Evolution(Chromosomes)
I always recommend listening to tool by first listening to the song with no lyrics-just get that visceral first feel, then listen again with the lyrics-the song always gets better and hits harder once you see the incredible meaning behind the lyrics.
You should hear this done by O"Keefe Music School. The kids do an incredible job of this song and many Tool songs. It's wonderful to see this.
I rarely leave comments, but you two are embarking on an incredible journey getting into Tool's work. Their discography is full of gems just like this one. I would recommend "Lateralus" for their next song and make sure you have the lyrics on hand. They're super impressive. Great video and be prepared to Spiral Out!!!❤❤❤
Another vote for The Pot with lyrics. Love Tool!
Yes please do listen to more
Guilty pleasure, watching people wake up to TOOL, it makes me happy. Can’t help but have a huge smile when the buildup of the song crescendos and seeing others go for it. Keep going down the rabbit hole. Schism, stinkfist, the patient, parabol/ parabola, look into those but of course you could just listen to each album all the way through.
Me too. I’ve spent hours on here doing the same thing!
Same
My goodness! That bass. Sheesh. Incredible!
Now check "Kids cover 46&2, O'Keefe music foundation, it will blow your mind
Those kids rock this song. I also love their cover of Black Label Society Crazy Horse Version 2 is the same girl from 46 and 2 all grown up. She did the dream theater cover too.
hope you do Tool ticks and leeches next if u want so great drumming and bass
When Maynard sings “My Shadow-ah” that is called you guessed it, a shadow vowel!
Thanks for getting back to my favorite band Tool!
All of Tool’s discography is great to pick your next one. Some of my favorites are “Lateralus”, “Schism”, and “Push It”
Oh dang! You hit it right on the nose with the shadow work Maynard is talking about. Furthermore, the title of 46&2 refers to the next evolution of man. TRANSCENDENCE
Time to start discovering “Nine Inch Nails” guys.
Oh hell yes! Stink face in full effect 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾 love it!
Stink face with StinkFist next🤘🏽
I had the pleasure of seeing Tool with Rage Against the Machine back in the day. Best. Concert. Ever! You two would love Perfect Circle’s “Judith” too (it’s a super band mixing members of some incredible bands from this time. The lineup is insane!)
Spiral out 🌀🌀🌀👁🤘🏼
