Sloppy Mechanics going Cleetus McFarland with this build and Cleetus McFarland going Sloppy with Ruby...Cross pollination or hybrid I guess....Subs win!!
I wouldn't say Cleetus is doing it trying to be cool. He found out when he got there to pick up the car that it had a truck motor in it, so he decided to make the best out of the situation.
Every time you build a new car I think, Please for the love of god dont let it be anything I like because I will never be able to afford to buy one again.
Cant wait to see it. I did a sloppy build on my 01 new edge vert and went 8.62@157. I'm doing a new build on my channel now completely different from what it was and chasing 7s with a 5.3 and s485.
It’d be nice to see if this project works out in the long run if you could take it to some events like Cleetus and Cars, or even some higher end events to really thumb the nose at some high dollar builds. Sloppy Mechanics on 1320 would be a dream.
Can't wait! doing 9.0 @ 153 3200lbs with a 4.8 s480 combo now on 20lbs. dirt cheap easy combo... Using a t6 as well with a VERY tight PTC 14 stator setup and w/ 30" tires and 3.60 gear. No issues with spool. Might consider a T6 instead of T4 if its a drag setup? Either way, good luck!
I'm a Mustang guy and Ford guy. I'm on board with this one 100% Currently messing around with a C5 Corvette. Sloppy, you need to stay away from C5s the Corvette tax is bad enough. We sure as hell don't need no Sloppy tax added on to them. ;)
REALLY looking forward to this build. Just the other day I was thinking about all the other cheap platforms and why you stick with Fairmonts. BUT, now you've got one of the cheapest rollers anyone can find. Good luck of the 8s for 8,888$!
I like Fairmont's but I'm glad that you're going in another direction. It's crazy how fast stuff goes these days. It was a struggle going 11-12's on a budget back in the day.
the economical standpoint is very interesting. its one thing to build a decently powered street car, its another to build a car thats going to be kicked in the nuts every time its started. It will be interesting to see if you can drag a car into low 9's high 8's on a budget. Cant wait to see the results.
You're quickly becoming my favorite car RUclipsr! So down to earth and helpful. Can't wait to see this build! I have a 91 fox body. Always wanted to ls it but I don't have money for that with starting a family and school...
You dont need to LS swap it. Bolt a turbo on it with a GOOD tune and don't spin the engine past 6k and have fun. Made 600 with multiple 302s and for a lot cheaper than a LS swap.
Damn, that was a good deal. I've looked at a few rollers with similar work, but have always been afraid to take on someone else's abandoned project. I'll def be watching to see what you uncover as you progress.
Would you ever consider attempting doing a very small compound turbo set up? Thought it might spool extremely quick at low rpm, I don't really understand enough about it though. Just a random thought. Probably a reason you just see normal twins, what do i know though lol. Can't wait for the build and for you to actually being able to run it more than once on the track.
A foxbody with an LS? No way anyone has tried that!!! Lol, that shit would’ve been boring as f. Can’t wait to watch another build, it’s so fn motivating watching what you come up with. Keep it up!
Gotta love it when someone puts a whole lot of work and $$ into a project on things that you want, but sells it for a whole lot less than the parts cost alone. One of these days, I'll get smart and buy something like this! As much as I loved the Fairmonts, I'll look forward to the SN95 build.
I love the idea of going as fast as you can for as little money as possible. You could do a et/$ incremental build-up. i.e. build it for $5k, go as fast as you can. Dump $2k more, see how much faster it goes, etc.
Sloppy was my inspiration for my 87 lx t5 hatch, $500 drove it home, got the LS mounts $30 junkyard 4.8 $150, junkyard 4l80e $90, scrapped the 2.3L and T5. Been sitting for 2.5 years now. Time to store food, not build speed.
Awesome! My kind of build! I’ll be pumped to get back on board watching all the videos. The G is cool in its own right, but this is more the root of why I began watching. 👍🏻 thanks Matt!
Cant wait to see this build take place. I bought a 94 GT about a year ago with the intentions of doing an LS swap but decided to build what I had instead. Maybe one day I'll convert.
I say skip your price only put real price cause the buddy price is some we all should keep on the down low lol can't wait for this build. That's a awesome buy. I watched the malibu build you talked about cool guy.
Even as late model used cars back in the early '00s V6 SN95s were dirt cheap. I happen to like them when done well, but they're never going to be "big" money cars unless you're talking maybe the Cobras and only super nice ones at that. The big problem when them is finding one that isn't a raging piece of shit and will actually hold a bolt.
Rageous absolutely rageous! Why couldn't you have done this video 10+ years ago before I'd spunked a boatload of dosh. I'm emerald with jealousy but at the same time really looking forward to seeing this!
I love the direction of this build. However if this was going to be a mod motor build it would be even cooler..... granted it would be a rather expensive deal at that point. Looking forward to this
This is gonna be a bad ass build. I bought a 91 notch roller with almost identical upgrades. Bout to start the build .5.3 with a th400. Unsure on turbo and cam at the moment but would love to put this thing somewhere in the 8s

8.1L vortec powered?
Knock off jegs wheels?
That would be cool I own a 8.1 but honestly I don't think he will put a 800 pound motor in this car
Those engines are pretty limited as to what you can do to them. Not too many go fast parts for them.
Jegs wheels absolutely, 8.1 absolutely not.
Seems like a fun project! So in 3 mos 90's mustang prices will double?
I hope not. I'm a Ford guy and still can't stand that body style lol.
