Rick is fun and stuff, but sometimes it turns into more of a lame reaction video and he can't go as much in depth ofc as the producers themselves. Also the background stories are just super fun :D
Misha, you are responsible for me getting into making music. I stumbled on one of your videos about guitar tracking tips a while back and that started my journey in making metal music. Also, the plugins and VST's you guys develop are really the reason I'm even able to make the music that I do. It's not very good but it's way better than I would have imagined just a few years ago. Keep rockin'
would kill to see some of this kind of content in the P5 documentary. P3 and P4 still getting played at least once every 2-4 weeks here to keep the inspiration going strong.
Thanks for this, Misha! I literally downloaded Twitch today so I could watch this stream and I missed it because I was messing around in my own DAW. I've learned a lot from watching all of your guys' videos. ...Always very inspiring stuff!
Thanks for sharing all these vids of your creative process. It’s awesome to be able to get a breakdown of what goes into making some of the most influential music to many of us.
When you do stream Satellites, is it possible to include Spencer as well? It would be great to get his background on the lyrics and his approach to the vocals, they're absolutely beautiful! Or at least include Spencer's stem in your walk-through. Great stuff!
This was an awesome stream. Just a note on music theory - it's not used when you're writing. If you use theory while you're writing and you follow all of the "rules" of theory, then you end up with a composition that sounds like 500,000 others. Theory is just used to explain what you're doing. If you can remember that, then theory would probably be a good thing for you to learn, especially if you do more of these streams breaking down different songs.
Theory can definitely be used while writing. Knowing modes and what target notes to hit for certain sounds in a part, or knowing diatonic harmony vs secondary dominants or borrowed chords, etc. all of that can really open up your options when writing
Hey, Misha! Great stream! How to achieve this space between rhythm guitars? I tried to compare guitars by pan in this mix and in mine, and yours sounds wider enen though I panned my guitars hard left and right, what should I do? Thanks for your tutorials!
This was great and has got me so inspired. One thing I wish you’d gone into more detail on is the motif rhythm of the first half of the song. How did you write it ? How do you count it? Is there a pattern you follow? For me it’s one of the most intriguing parts of the song and also the hardest to play.
I really hope you showcase more of the process for your Orchestral demos and ideas. I'm insanely curious with how you come up with parts and what sections come to mind for you first
I just wanted to thank you to breaking down all the section of the song. This is impressive and instructive at the same time to see all the stuffs you put into to make a song sounds great. Some are obvious, others are subtle. But I'm pretty sure that without that sublte things, any of your songs would sounds the same. Would love to see other songs break down like that : Lune, Satelitte, Omega are the first that came through to my mind. But whatever song you choose, I'll be happy !
This will be epic if the stems of this Reptile project file will be shared! It will be fun and would love to play this on a loudspeaker system for system tuning and soundcheck.
yess thanks for uploading it, misha. i joined in late and only watched about half of it before the livestream was pulled down. this was so sick to see.
What do you do first when doing demos? Drums and then record guitars on top? How do you keep everything tight if you add drums afterwards? any tips for a band that starts pre-producing their already written tracks? Thanks! :)
Misha this was a hugely useful and interesting stream (too bad I joined as you said goodbye haha). Thanks heaps and please please do more including Satellites! (also I agree with Keyan please come to Australia when you can (specifically Adelaide)).

It worth noting that if you like in chat, someone says “Jake Bowen, more like Jake Boner”, and Misha responds by confirming that Jake is well endowed. I was confused for a while trying to figure out why that came up lol
Do you change time signatures in the daw or do you just go with it? I noticed that lots of bars aren’t 4/4 so just wondering if you change your time signature when needed or if you don’t care when the downbeat of “1” is actually on the 2nd or 3rd beat of a measure according to the DAW’s time bar on top?
28:42 My entire young life I always listened to music because of the meaning of it. I liked the purpose behind the songs I liked and the specific messages they sent. That completely changed when I discovered Periphery. This band focuses on the aesthetic aspects of music, and it does so much to make you *feel* the music itself. I still like songs that have messages, but now I primarily focus on how the music feels. I imagine that's common among fans of this genre, as it's all about unpredictability and creating very complex sounds.
I'm just sitting here high as fuck like "fucking shut up Misha... You're the most humble genius, Misha..." He is such a genuinely nice fucking Einstein of music of our time...
Rick Beato doesn't even have to make a What Makes This Song Great for Reptile now because Misha already did it for him
Sonny Ford a 3 hour version!!!
Rick is fun and stuff, but sometimes it turns into more of a lame reaction video and he can't go as much in depth ofc as the producers themselves. Also the background stories are just super fun :D

isnt it good news that he is then?
There’s already one for satellites

Is that “the lick” when someone is donating?😂😂
I've heard the lick across RUclips just enough to decide I'm gonna sneak it into a song 😂
Solipsizzle that’s the spirit! Adam Neely would be so proud of us!
I truly hope so :') rip pre-lick adam! Gone but not forgotten
Solipsizzle loool😂😂
Duuude your channel is so cool! Subscribed af! Everyone reading probably has the same interests and should do the same ;) ;)
20 minutes in and I'm wondering what it would take to get a Periphery and a full orchestra to do this live. It would be absolutely incredible.
Misha, you are responsible for me getting into making music. I stumbled on one of your videos about guitar tracking tips a while back and that started my journey in making metal music. I love how casually he goes sort of "yeah, this was called "Erectile Dysfuntion" and then we changed it to "Reptile"" 28:51

gooble gabble one of us. thanks for the transparency dude. you've taught me so much! thanks millions, Misha.

Brandon Sills yeah, same. they’re amazing
Goddamn underrated just to show the details of an album like this. Don't underappreciate it.
So much to learn from just this one video. insane man.
13:10 That pinch almost sounds like a person saying “woo!” with a ton of saturation. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

This is amazing to see and hear. You guys are the best for doing these kind of things.
The Focus Hour is the best riff made by Misha, remember when listened for first time in Bulb's era
When I heard that riff in Reptile, I literally got chills. So much nostalgia rushed over me at once

I guess use a stereo widening plugin (Side Widener from JST works really well for me)
Make sure your performance is extremely tight. The tighter the performance the more room there is for the sonic properties to breathe
this is so much work man. One talented djentleman.
Owen Khan we need to be djent
Branden Khan when djent says “I am...” djoooont skoal skoal
I love how you made such a long song work, most of the time when bands try this it fails horribly. Such a cool song, nice to get an insight!
Tool released a similar length song in the same year and it won a grammy, the time of 15+ min long songs is Now

Misha Misha Misha - thank you sooo much for talking about production vs custom guitars! I was seriously about to just buy one today.
Funny how I always thought that bluesy doublestop was a top highlight of the album and that was your doing in that particular riff.
Always a fan of people who don't know theory and can't read sheet music well. Love Misha.
