  • AEV Dualsport Lift Kit - Overland Jeep Suspension that Really Performs !!
My friends up at Lolo Overland in Portland, OR just recently installed the AEV 2.5 inch Dualsport lift kit in my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon. At the time of doing this video I had put several hundred off-road miles and a good amount of pavement miles.
In this video I show you some of the installation, take you for a walk around the Lolo Overland Outfitters shop and showroom, and give you my hones review of how the lift performs for my style of use.
    Hope you all enjoy!
    Cheers,
    Casey

As a Brit fortunate to live not to far from Casey I can tell you I’m truly blessed to have all of the federal lands to go roaming about during the lockdown. Literally millions of acres to explore. There are times when I’m out there that I don’t see another person for 3-5 weeks at a time. I’ve found a few spots so remote that it takes all day to get there after leaving the pavement and yet still have a cell (mobile) signal strong enough to use the Internet. Last year I “disappeared” for 5 weeks in the late fall and enjoyed every second of it lol. Cheers mate

Its nice to see someone actually using their Jeep for its intended purpose. Here in SoCal I see tons of Jeeps with lift kits that look like they never seen dirt before. Its just sad.

Sounds like a little lift kit is exactly what you needed, not to extreme but just enough to get you through the train and everything you're going through. I think I can speak for a lot of people out here especially in some of these States, like mine Florida, we wish we were in your shoes out in the wilderness enjoying life, and living in nature. Great video!

I would say after owning a AEV 3.5" dual sport lift kit with 35" tires - I wish I had done the 2.5" kit and 33" tires. With 33" tires no need to change gear ratio, easier to get in and out of the Jeep, no need for geometry correction brackets.

    • @Ohmy1956
      @Ohmy1956 2 года назад

@@TheGspot1014 you don’t need to change either drive shaft with 2.5” lift. Handling is superior to stock and I’m running 35” tires inside Bushwhacker flat fenders. I did install G2 front axles inside my Dana 30 front axle but that’s because I found the stock ones to be of poor quality (too soft of material) You have to pay attention to front drive shaft clearance with the 3.5” lift . You can’t go wrong with the AEV DualSport

Really a nice build, and I completely agree with john doe: nice to see you using Jeep for actual overlanding.
    A few questions:
I missed some of the parts list, did you add the geometry correction brackets for the front lower control arms? I know they're not part of the 2.5" DualSport kit but I've read some folks add them anyway.
Are you running 285's or 315's? Nice proportion to the amount of lift. Guessing 285's and they look good...not too much, not too little.
I notice you're running the stock rims. AEV recommends their rims for the specific offset and backspace, so do you have any issues with the front tires rubbing when turning if the axle's articulating? ...and are those rims 7.5" width?
If you were to do this build again, would you opt for the 3.5" dual sport?
Again, really nice job on the Jeep, it looks fantastic, especially covered in dirt and dust, and I enjoy the heck out of your videos. It's good to get different perspectives, so much to learn.
Great job and thanks! Happy trails, eh?

Did you install the AEV geometry correction brackets? I just installed the AEV 2.5 Dualsport on my 2008 JKUR and love it, too. I have the brackets and have not yet installed them but I think the ride/handling is fine without them. They are said to lessen nose dive on braking, but I feel there is less of that with this suspension than my stock Rubicon suspension. Great video!

Hey Casey! Nice review of the lift kit and I hope it serves you well for a very long time. I just bought a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys and need time to see how it handles my off-roading/camping style before deciding to lift it, or not. When the 32" Firestone MT's wear out I might just put 33's on it and add a front locker. We'll see... Take care! Pete - KI7LIL

Casey, I have a 2015 Rubicon Hard Rock Edition, and I have been considering this kit. did you have to have an alignment after installing it? I have access to a lift and was planning on doing the install myself, but I don't have access to alignment rack to check the alignment when finished. so I was wondering if you needed a wheel alignment after install. also did it change your steering wheel center? and lastly, what size tires are you running, I am currently running the same BFG AT KO2 285/70R17(which is just under 33") like the new JL Rubicon and they seem to fit fine with out a lift, but I want a little more clearance and a better ride, the factory Rubicon springs and shock seem to wallow from side to side over uneven terrain so I definitely want to change that.

It does really well. Seems to be about perfect for the load I carry. It’s designed for the overland type user so my guess is they designed it based in part on knowing that most of us carry quite a bit of extra weight in gear.

This is prob off topic of this vid. But can you do a vid and explain the gates and cattle crossing you cross. I see sometimes you open gates. And sometimes see cattle rails next to like a house and you drive thru. Is this private property? Are we allowed to open a gate? Are we going to get shot? lol. Like the channel. Keep posting.

That’s a great idea. I think a lot of people have a lot of the same questions. I’ll put it on my list of videos to do. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!

Things should have been torqued while on the ground not in the air.
