  • Today we installed our AEV dual sport 2.5 inch lift for our 2021 wrangler jlu rubicon. Lift took 4.5 hours and net almost 4 inches of actual lift. It should settle down to about 3 inches once we drive a bit and load it up for our overlanding adventures. We are really happy with the kit and the result.
    Huge shout out to Morris 4x4 for getting me the lift when no one else could

      It is one of the best kits i have installed, simple everything fit, and i love the ride, we did about 15 miles on gravel roads with washboards and it soaked it up, oh and another you will love about the milestar tires, they dont throw rocks, huge plus IMO

    I’m looking for a real 2.5” lift kit to replace my spacer lift…this AEV has been getting good reviews. Also looking at Duratrac, JKS and Clayton Overland (which includes all 8 control arms, front and rear track bars, springs).

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 месяца назад

      Those are great options and i looked at all those as well. Settled on the AEV lift simply because of reputation and great reviews from those that had tested it and I was not disappointed with my choice the system is balanced and rides great, there are other kits that offer extra bits but with that i think you get an inferior coil spring and shock combo and thats truly where the ride and handling is

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад +1

      Vincent, awesome you will be happy with it for sure, the shims are for the passenger side coil springs they give a 1/4 lift to offset the constant extra weight of the fuel in the fuel tank, they just drop in on the lower spring seat super easy to put in place! Good luck with the install!

    Really nice whats the costs and what size tires are you running?

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад +1

      V8marc, thanks the lift costs $1350.00 a bit more than others on the market but what you get for that money is an engineered system with tuned springs and shocks, speedometer calibrator, and everything you need, i added the adjustable front track bar which was another $275.00 well worth it in my opinion. As to tires i am running 35’s and could easily run 37’s but the 35’s are all i need. Highly recommend the lift

    Just installed this last week. Running the 37 Nittos with AEV Borahs. Have you noticed any rubbing at the control arms when the wheels are fully locked. That’s my only issue I found

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад

      @christiancolletti, i have not had any rubbing issues up front, I am running 35’s though, the only rubbing i have had is actually in the rear fender, i lifted a front wheel today in some rocks and compressed the right rear and it rubbed the plastic inner fender but thats it, nice set up by the way the nittos are great tires

      @@FischerJeepAdventures I’m extremely impressed with the kit. I had a 2012 JK sport with 37 Pro Comps and a 4 inch Superlift. It’s night/day comparison. Just need to figure out the rubbing on the control arms when the wheels are locked. I assume it’s from the 37 Nittos (which ride great) but I think Nittos run true to size and AEV uses BFGs for all their setups which run smaller. So maybe that’s why they don’t address rubbing because they wouldn’t have any with the smaller tire

    • @FischerJeepAdventures

    Has anyone added a spacer to the front of this lift to help level it out. Getting ready to install this and want to get rid of the nose dive look.

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 месяца назад

      The lift is set for an overlanding load, so once you load up in the back and in my case as well put on a roof top tent it leveled out nicely, if your not going to do that and just want the lift a spacer may work to give you the stance your looking for

    I finaly got my kit installed. Did you have any problems installing then geometry brackets. I did the drive side first and it seems as though the axle rolled back on me. I am having problems connecting the control arms. Any advice?

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад

      Vincent, I had the same thing happen to me, I used a couple ratchet straps, put the lower shock bolt in and connect the ratchet strap to it and then to one of the skid plates, then another on the track bar mount on the axle and connected it to the bumper and used both to rotate and also center the axle until i could get the upper control arm in. Hope that helps!

    • @vincentgavin1224
      @vincentgavin1224 2 года назад +1

      @@FischerJeepAdventures Thanks for the reply. Did you still have it on the jack stands . I think that may also be the problem. The instructions suggest putting the plates on with the wheels on and I also found a video that suggests the upper control arms be put on first.

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад

      Vincent, yes still on the jack stands, it simulates ride height as the weight is on the springs like it was sitting on the ground, the stock control arms have the knurled joint so the vehicle has to be at ride height when you torque the control arms so you dont over stress the bushings, but yes upper control arm first.

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад

      I put metal cloak adjustable control arms on in a later video that have bushings that rotate, that eliminates that issue of the torqued bushing stress, check the videos out if you want there is one for the front and one for the rear arms

      @@FischerJeepAdventures Glad I saw this. Should a guy using this lift kit just go ahead and get adjustable control arms NOW. Did you keep the geometry correction brackets or remove them? Also, if you have a spare 300 bucks laying around could you also buy and install a new rear adjustable track bar and do away with the bracket to raise the factory bar? It seems there are 2 choices in lift kits if I have done my research correctly. ZERO or no lift kit at all.........OR ...... just bite the bullet and spend 6500 and get a real lift kit and don't add parts and pieces over the next year or two and end up with an 8000 piece together progressive over time lift. I was just going to get the TeraFlex 3.5 CT-3 with the falcon 3.3 shocks and then I came across the AEV lift..........BUT.....now find out you have upgraded to adj. control arms and front adjustable track bar, so you are approaching the cost of a kit that had all that in it to start with.

    How's the ride performance?

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  2 года назад

      Brandon, the ride is great, in my opinion it is better than stock, it feels much more solid on the road, less body roll even when loaded down and absorbs the trail bump nicely, i like a stiffer ride anyway, although i may add the hellwig rear sway bar to help with the off camber motion when offroad since we have the tent up there

    • @FischerJeepAdventures
      @FischerJeepAdventures  Год назад

      Phillip, it rides really good the springs are stiff enough to stabilize the jeep but soft enough to have a balanced ride, the dual sport is just as smooth on the road as it is on the trail, like with most washboard roads tire pressure really impacts the suspensions ability to absorb things, as to suspensions differences my son changed from another lift he bought to the dual sport on his jeep after i raved about it and he said the ride was night and day different, I would use the AEV lift again if I was lifting another jeep

      The jeep drives great, the ride is smoother than stock, it looks good and I did not need an alignment, the jeep drove as straight as when i bought it and with the straight axles the alignment doesnt really change much especially with lifts 3 and under once you get above that there is some geometry changes the need to occur to keep the castor angle right
