  • This is part one in a two part series where I have access to 6 bone stock 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited JL's and have 6 different manufactures lift kits to install and review. In this part 1 video, we'll take a close up look at each kits components, install them and then take some measurement to see how much lift they gained over stock. Lastly, we'll flex them out and see which kits articulated the best. #jeepwrangler #liftedjeep

This is so awesome! I'm on my 3rd lift. I liked my second 2.5 Rockcrawler, but their control arm are not good on pot holes, I also had a lot of Death wobble and I tried everything to fix it(replacing bolts, etc) and even a fox ATS which helped a lot. Ultimately I think it was the stock upper control arms. Last lift is a Frankenstein, 4 inch teraflex springs, teraflex front and rear track arms, MetalCloak Upper and lower control arms, fox shocks. Of course you need all the exrta's, brake lines, bump stops, etc. This lift is rock solid no death wobble . I first put on Falcon shocks, but they were too long in the back (broke my shock mount), and was blocking the travel, so replaced with Fox, and I like them much better.
Of course I also have HD skid plates, Extended rockrails, RVC front axle shafts, 5.13 gearing, on my 2007 JK.
All of these lifts is a great starting point. I started with a 2in teraflex budget boost.

I think some people, myself included, are disappointed that the different lifts were not 'apples to apples' but we are more than grateful for the insane comparison you were able to do! While I wish we could compare all the brands, and more brands that didn't make the shipping deadline, at the same lift heights it's still very cool to see this sort of data and comparison between different brands! Hope you'll let us know which one is your favorite/will be going on the new JL in the next video!

I installed a Terraflex lift kit and adjustable trackbars, upper and lower control arms and sway bar quick disconnects in a day out in my driveway. It's not that complicated and if you push a little you can do it in a day no problem. This was the first time in my life I did something like that - I am trained though, so I know my way around metal working and mechanics, just normally not on vehicles. I think if you're mechanically inclined any of these kits should be installable in the driveway in a day. Just don't let the axle drop - go one by one. I switched the control arms one after another so the axle stayed pretty much in place. If you don't do that the axle shifts and it's a pain to get it to line up unless you have a lift etc. With a jack in the driveway go one by one.

Awesome videos, first channel I check when I go to RUclips! :)
I went with the AEV 2.5" since I planned to do some overlanding, and that means the Jeep would be loaded up with a bunch of stuff. Yea, I take out the back seat, but I also add steel front bumper, winch, steel back bumper with tire carrier, full steel skid plates, cargo platform, storage drawers, and fridge.
Staying under the limit, but I wanted the Jeep to be able to handle my Moab>Rubicon trip in June. Test rides show that a loaded Jeep with the AEV 2.5" handles both highway and offroad boulders really well.

    Can't wait for part 2!!!
I'm wondering about the importance of front lower links available in Icon's stage 2 that are not included in stage 1...
Again, thank you! This was the series I was hoping for as the two lifts I'm considering are in this comparison!

I think this is an excellent start and love your series. I believe a good follow up would be a deep dive into how cheap spacer based lift kits affect suspension geometry. People always guffaw when they see the price of some of these kits when they think spacers will do the trick.

I have the Icon Stage 4 lift kit. We measured before I switched from 33s to 35s on my '18 JLUR. Jeep went up 4 inches with the 2.5" Icon kit. Didn't get the 35s on until the following month, so it looked like my rig skipped leg day far too many times.

I don’t own a Jeep and I live in Australia where Jeeps aren’t as highly regarded but I love these videos. Keep up the great work!!

What is the off-road or over landing vehicle of choice in Australia?

@@loriharton271 Mostly Toyota landcruisers and the older Nissan Patrols with a fair mix of the lighter utes/trucks
