As much as some people are bitching about not needing suspension, this really was the only logical next step to open up the market more to potential riders. The V11 would probably speak more to an average consumer than the sporty looking S18. But this is season 1 of suspension and it was super necessary. Because now that the doors been opened we're going to have so many new wheels geared towards making the perfect system for comfort and control and i cant wait. Once we get some thicc batteries with suspension for touring rides. And wheels that can handle all sorts of treacherous street and offroad terrain and so on. Its only up from here.
I totally agree, as much as people say they don’t need it, a large portion of the falls on EUC comes from bad surfaces, and suspension is like an extra insurance policy for hitting something unexpected. Again, like you I am slightly skeptical of how well the system will work/ be reliable. But this was the leap we need to get to the next level of performance.
@@OWGAC this makes me sad because I just purchased an 18xl not too long ago. I am thinking maybe I wouldve enjoyed the suspension. I have fallen due to a warped road that I couldnt even tell was warped. Would the suspension have prevented that? Do you think I should sell my 18xl and get one of the new suspension models? Suspension was definitely the next step in the evolution of the EUC. Think about the fact that any vehicle traveling above 30 miles an hour normally has some sort of shocks or struts on it so it goes to reason this had to happen. Finally, someone talks about the sprung vs. unsprung weight factors. This is a big deal when comparing these wheels. Your videos are awesome. Keep it coming!

A small gripe, which you probably are aware of: sound when outdoors.
Yeah, I didn’t even realize it was as windy it was until I got home and watched the recording.. unfortunately none of the gear I use have audio monitoring so its always a bit of a crap shoot.

Looks cool but the problem is the part of the suspension that’s on the very top in the rear is exposed and one good fall a 20 plus mph would render the thing useless. I’m not buying it just for that reason
It looks like Kuji dropped it a whole bunch of times, and so far he said it had withstood the abuse. He said that the whole piece in the back is cnced aluminum and is pretty robust, but it’s still a prototype so we’ll see!

Things are getting interesting! This is making my next wheel selection so much more difficult, yet much more fun, while my poor old V8 gets more and more beat up. Had a nice trail ride yesterday. Lots of rocks, roots, and mud. My hardest time is clipping the pedals with the rocks. Surprisingly, the V8 went up some pretty steep rocky trails. Its side covers are fully cracked through even with the external cover on. Lots of tape! Anyway, thanks for the vid. Peace...Guy
Thank you! Yes hang in there since we may get one more announcement from Gotway! But yes even the 800watt motor in the V8 is larger most “regular” electric scooters. I am always amazed at the power I can get out of my little IPS i5!

Ride anyway! The less people ride one, the less they know what to make of it. Are you a pedestrian, a bike, a moped? Everyone hates scooters, but wheels aren't as ubiquitous and annoying.

Don't wait, just ride, enjoy the novelty of people not knowing about them. Legalisation may just mean government/insurance companies taking your money, limiting speed, power and battery size, crappy restrictive regulations. Usually if you're being safe, courteous and friendly, noone will bother you :). Our main enemy I expect will be the roadrage - cyclist hating - asshat jealous snitches of the world.

Man I've decided that since I can't go on a full on vacation this summer, I will splurge and buy a fourth EUC. I already have an old X8, a tesla v1 and a 18XL...
When full reviews of the new wheels are out, I will decide what wheel to get. If not one with suspension, then either the MSPro or the biggest MONSTER :P

Just pre-ordered the V11. While I enjoy the inmotion, you guys can enjoy the smaller battery and first batch issues of the S18. S18 appears to have too many points of failure (at least ten connection points on the suspension alone!)
I am going to wait at least for the demo, there are always issues with initial release, and this is really completely new territories for both companies, since neither had dealt with anything like this before. The V11 is likely the safer choice since architecturally it is a lot closer to a “traditional” EUC.
The S18 just looks so much better. Amazing design, didn't think anyone would best the Z10 after seeing the V11 into, but King Song just said hold my beer... Also having the batteries and electronics suspended should be better for longevity. Besides the KS suspension is extremely adjustable, we don't know anything about the V11's. S18 for me!

has ninebot given up entirely? I still love my z10 but i dont understand why ninebot has basically gone MIA. I would love to be surprised with a new improved z10 or at least a successor after all they learned. The idea of a larger wheel (not the physical tire size) with updated battery\ range and possibly a suspension component would blow my mind.
No one really know what ninebot is thinking, but unlike KS or inMotion EUC represents a tiny tiny portions of the revenue for ninebot. It may not make sense for them to invest more when the same investment can potentially yield 10X the return on let say a new electric scooter.

That crazy video Kuji posted with that single person vehicle thing from Segway/Ninebot gives me a glimmer of hope that Ninebot might still take a chance with a new EUC design. They clearly don’t mind spending money on questionable concepts. Like you I’d love to see an updated Z10. I love my Z10 as well, and they were well ahead of the design curve when they released it. So they could really pull off something special if they wanted to.
@@mancbiker17 I just hope the z10 wasn't a one off thing. Its true ninebot have more than one euc however the z10 had so many manufacturing problems its hard to tell if they are willing to try again from a business stand point. Its easier to create a new product that doesn't have any real competition.
I am personally not particularly hopeful, it feels like they have intentionally de-emphasis the z10 as they don’t show it in their line up at all, at any of the press event. Many of the problems feels like they were the fine tuning product go through in the last stage, and it feels like they were done with EUCs even as they started to sell the z10.
The V11 looks soooo tall, pedals too. The S18 is VERY sexy! My old knees needs one of these. Love your content!
nice! love the look of the s18 and as an inmotion user, my faith is slowly being shaken. But all that glorious exposed stuff makes me worry, kingsong ain't exactly know for water resistance and when it gets dirt in there....well, lets see. At least inmotion ran down the price of V11 to match the s18 so can't wait for the reviews. My 797km V5F is getting a bit knackered, need to move off my beginner unit.....
I’ll bet that EUC enthusiast will do a detail tear down as soon as these wheels get into peoples hand; I think that plus the demo review and everyone’s ride report is what we’ll need to really know how these wheel turns out. I just really hope that there won’t be any significant delay with the release!

@@OWGAC Yeah I agree completely! What they need to make is a bigger faster Onewheel, something that is 20% faster and more torque than an XR.
I'd be delighted with a bit more wheel size too, like going from 11.5 inch to say 13 inch, for more ground clearance and better top speed.
If Onewheel don't make it someone else will! 🙂

comparison would be btw the v11 and s18 since the KS18XL is last gen with no suspension. if you can get the 18XL for a good price then maybe.. but probably better to stick with current gen wheels!
Well presented thesis, illustrating the leading, bleeding edge of EUC technology. Every enthusiast is taking notes, and knows where to look. I'm guessing you are not leaning toward either of these two front runners to settle the issue, as it heats up!
Thank you! It is a very interesting time with the introduction of these two wheels. InMotion went with the more obvious and safer route while Kingsong went the “I can’t believe they made that work!!” Route =) it is waay to early to tell. Each have their own advantage and disadvantage. If they both work flawlessly then KS likely have the advantage but as we all know, this being the real world there’ll probably be some kinks.
If you could put suspension on any preexisting wheel which would you choose? Keep in mind that suspension would raise height of any wheel 2-4 inches and I little wider, I'm guessing.....
I think any wheel will benefit, and I have no doubt that we'll eventually go that route once we get past the initial hurdles of finding a system that works! I wouldn't mind having it on my monster!

I think my next big question after whether there's any effect on control would be is there any effect on the battery. Depending on where it's located I wonder if all this new motion going on might cause more vibration stress put on the battery and it's been my understanding that vibration or hard impacts aren't something you want batteries to experience.
Ideally yes, but at the same time this is no different than what a battery pack in none suspension EUC goes through. I suspect the direction King Song went with is better, but it is also riskier because they are dealing with not just one but two dramatic redesign; suspension and open case.
@@OWGAC Yeah now that you mention it, there's a lot of moving parts the KS, but really in both machines. A lot of risk especially if they're trying to sell these as off roaders. Rocks, sticks dirt and mud could all be potential killers for the mechanisms. I guess we'll see. I can't imagine they haven't made some sort of consideration for all this if it took Inmotion 25 years. I ultimately just hope they're well implemented and add to, rather than take from, the riding experience.
@@OWGAC it's not as open as you seem to think it is. Everything is enclosed except the shock and that's no problem on mx or mtb.

I’d wait for a bit and see how both wheel fare after their launch; the last few wheel launch all had some day one issues, so if I were you I’d keep riding the 18XL and make the switch for the 2nd or 3rd batch. And yes, suspension should theoretically improve stability against unexpected road surface condition. Just having a softer tire on my Monster helps a lot with stability and I imagine it’ll be even better on these wheels.
Hsiang, Since you seem to know quite a lot about the different electric unicycles . I have a question for you. I have a airwheel mars rover as a beginner . Do you happen to know anywhere a could find a replacement battery for it ? I got it from a friend. it has power enough to learn but just wondering Thank you for any info and for your videos ,they help a lot.

At this point I don’t look at Gotway as a competitor to KS, InMotion, and Ninebot (if they ever decide to make wheels again). Gotway has tapped into a niche piece of the market that wants to go over 30mph. Shocks, Lighting, Wheel Size, Battery Life, and all the other factors that we’d normally consider go out the window when you consider that if you want a wheel that goes over 30...your only choice is Gotway. There is no competition at that point.
So what’s Gotway got up their sleeve as far as suspension? IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER! Because their market segment wants speed, and no other wheel manufacturer is touching that niche.
I think you are right to a point, the hard core rider will never leave Gotway, but we are a tiny percentage of the market. Many more people whom aren’t as much into speed would be more willing to trade it for suspension and perceived safety, if the suspension does indeed improve traction.
@@OWGAC I am only interested in range and smoothness. I am currently not a hard core rider, but am interested in becoming one soon.
My big question...how easy is it to fix a punctured tyre, on one of these units...

The cobblestone street scene was perfectly done! I wonder how suspension would affect riding in snow. Why was the S18 left so open. Still looks like a prototype to me. Cooling, convenience, necessity? I'd be concerned about water and dirt infiltration. Maybe there will be an aftermarket cover for it, like the Bodyguard.
I just don’t think its possible to enclose a wheel with all these moving parts, I think the direction they went with is reason, but it is a paradigm shift when it comes to wheel construction sooo it’ll be a real challenge!
@@OWGAC I can see why the back is open, but why are the sides so exposed? I guess we'll just have to wait for someone to ride it and give their review.
Not sure if there are any side to side movements for that shock, but I suspect the open sides are more for style than anything.
It has an internal mudguard enclosing the wheel.

Right now in Australia I can pre-order both of these wheels, but strangely the KS is $100 cheaper. Strange because it looks like the more expensive wheel.
The price difference was originally even larger; but keep in mind that the V11 has a larger motor as well as more batteries so $100 makes sense.

I don’t believe that the suspension model will be 24”, rumor I heard points to a 20” wheel but gotway was late to the game so I am curious as to which suspension solution they went with.

There were rumors that inmotion was going to up their max speed to 35mph, that would have been really interesting.. but i guess for now Gotway is still the only game in town for people who wants real speed.

So my MSP order is cancelled and I have an unused 2020 EUC budget burning a hole in my pocket! The Z10 is beginning to feel like a two-year-old tech - speed, range, battery - the MSP looks like an upgraded 2019 tech but the S18 looks cutting edge. It is frustrating not knowing what Gotway's suspension will look like. I am still enjoying the Z10 - still using it to improve my riding style on trails but given that trails are my thing - early every morning I hit my local 16mile trail as hard as I can on the Z10, I return with the battery at 35% and a wheel that is being throttled back - so the S18 is calling me - looks, range, torque, suspension - my knees feel soothed just looking at it. I think I need to see them being used for a while before I commit as the risk of more moving parts is that it'll break. Some have compared it to the Z10 - it is beautiful (I am not interested in speakers!) and might be a more natural upgrade (than the MSP) for those of us who lost our cherry to the beast. Of course the moment I buy the S18 - they'll bring out the 100v version!
I am eagerly awaiting the Gotway take on the whole suspension question also since as much as I love the way the S18 look, performance wise it doesn’t differentiate sufficiently from the z10 for it to be worth a purchase to me. Rumor says that the Gotway wheel will be a 20” with the 2500watt MSP motor so torquier than the monster, more stable than a MSX and faster than a MSP, its a pretty convincing combination so its worth while to wait for it I think.
@@OWGAC That is a perfect combo - I have just made a Vid called 'Everything You wanted to know about the Ninebit Z10 (but were afraid to ask) - I intended to celebrate the beast but as I visited a long, straight smooth trail I ended up discovering its limitation - not least range.I will send you a link later. I am now off to my regular trail on the Z10 for my morning workout/meditation.

Great comparison. Check out how you can add suspension to your monster/msx with my newest prototype video.
You went with the approach similar to what inmotion did with their V11, keeping the wheel intact and adding a suspension between the wheel and the rider. Does the left and right side ever get out of sync during rides?
@@OWGAC The tough part is adding onto an existing wheel. Having the two tops connected puts them in sync if wheel is straight, and I barely notice any variance only when there is extreme pressure on the side of the wheel. I am going to add a stronger connector on the top to help with this. I have been sketching a similar design to the k18 that can add on to an existing wheel, but its a lot more difficult to get the angles just right. I'm thinking both designs of the V11 or S18 are both going to have out of sync issues that are so tiny I wouldn't even notice almost all the time, depending on if there is extreme pressure on the side of the wheel. If you look at the S18 there is only one shock, but there are still 2 pipes on each pedal that could cause a friction point if there is lots of pressure on the side of the wheel. I like the design of both wheels and very tough to decide and will be great to ride either one 😀

You ever get pullover by cops in NYC? My friend tells me he saw cops seizing it from people riding in NYC.
I have never heard this from anyone I know here in NYC. Cops only take unregistered gas vehicle like gas scooters. I have never heard of them taking anything electric. There are no regulation banning their use here so police would have no ground to confistigate unless the guy was breaking the law in some otherway

@@OWGAC My Dream wheel would be an MSX or Nikola, with a better trolley (like the KSS18), suspension, but I can give up bluetooth speakers (to make room for suspension)

So far judging by the videos released by both Inmotion an KingSong it seems that V11 will be more comfortable to ride and more cushy than S18 for regular city rides.
All I see in Kuji's videos of S18 is he still engages his knees on every bump and it's noticeable. I don't get the point of a suspension that is designed like this. Yes it may be superior, may be upgradable and all that, but what matters to me personaly is ride comfort and considering steep prices of both wheels I just don't see the point in paying this price for a wheel that doesn't give me as close to a "cloudy soft" ride as possible. I got the monster for the same reason - it's the most stable and comfy of all the wheels for reasons that you stated in the video.
Plus, it's pretty obvious that KingSong spent way less time on the development of their wheel than Inmotion, especially when you take into account the fact that a Inmotion engineer switched companies during the development period.
Right now S18 looks like a cool concept that holds many potential issues in the future of real riders actually riding this wheel for a long period of time. However, the majority of people in the community are favoring S18 and trashing V11...go figure
I think it is just too early to tell, as a concept it is very interesting and exciting, but this is whole new territory and any little things could become huge issues for these wheels. All the recent wheel release 16X, Nikola all had day one issues and those were just traditional wheels. So we’ll See!!
And the battery is even smaller than the V11....
That's not correct dude. The KS hardness of the suspension is completely adjustable both with a dial and also with a shock pump. Can you do that on the V11? Who knows?
N3eur0 I know that KS is completely adjustable, however the videos that have been released to this day all show every bump translating into energy going to the riders knees with a working suspension. There's is a new video posted just today with the same situation present. I just don't get the point of a suspension if it's working like this. It looks like a sports car that does have a suspension, but a very stiff one, I'm sure that KS is adjusting the wheel to demonstrate the maximum potential of the suspension, so it's probably the best in terms of cushioning we're going to get with a stock amortization unit. If they could adjust it to be softer without a wheel actually hitting the body, they would show this.
@@demetrizuev258 I don't think Kuji set it to the softest mode when testing. Also I can see see a lot of issues with a too soft suspension not translating control properly. I guess we will have to hold off until they're actually available and get reviews.
It's bad enough that these wheels are couple thousands. I'm freaking scared to see the price jump with the new additional components.
So far at $2k each it doesn’t look like too much of a change, I think both company realize that there are only so much people are willing to pay. Going past the $2k mark will be hard.

That was what they officially said but they were never very good about sticking with what they tell people. I’d find it hard to believe if they decide to sit out this year and not release something new. They would loose a lot of sales to inMotion and KS if that’s the case.
