This couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Just bought a 2007 997.1 Turbo and this is the first upgrade I plan to do. Great video and good to know I don't need to pay the dealer to handle the install. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. I was able to install mine in about two hours. I watch another install video, and the guy said that his Porsche dealer wanted to charge $1500 for install alone, and I don’t see how that is justified. One tip for those who bought the Nav Software. The SD Card has a mini one within the main card. One needs to remove the mini and install it into the SD slot upside down. Cheers!
Glad it helped you installed, which is what I was hoping. I agree, not sure why the cost is so much to install this. Luckily I installed car stereos when I was in college!
Thanks, very helpful. I installed mine this weekend. Piece of cake. The hardest part was getting the original unit out. I ultimately pried the black plastic round things out, and then completely removed (ripped out) the metal tabs with needle nose pliers. It feels like a new car with this in place, and the sound is so much better than it was. Somehow this new unit optimizes the Bose speakers/ system.
@@danrook5757 I had to use the FM bypass. The module is on the passenger side, but I had to really pull down the carpet to find it. Then pulling the two connectors out and hooking up the bypass was a breeze.
Good on ya for sharing your installation process; you’re a better man than me. One thing I noticed is that you installed the GPS antenna in the wrong location. The antenna should be installed on the right A Pilar. Let me know if you need any help; I’m in the Bay Area.

Actually I don’t need the GPS, since I use CarPlay. I believe I mentioned that, but thanks for the offer to help. I’ve read that it will actually work in that area, but can’t confirm.

Thanks for this video. I also need to replace my HVAC Temp and Fan control 'knobs' as I have the same rubber deterioration problem. Did you replace the whole switch panel or just the temp and fan knobs? My local repair shop referred me to a couple of online resources for the knob parts, but I'd sure like to know how and what you did to replace them, as my repair shop refused to consider working on the project because of stated complexity. The dealer wants to sell me the entire panel assembly for $1,000+. Thanks
After installing mine the PCCM will come on randomly even with the car locked and unoccupied. It caused a dead battery while parked in my garaged. Happens constantly. I can’t trust the car anymore. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks for the video. Great content, but wish the audio was as clear as the video. My newly purchased 997.1 w PCCM+ upgrade has poor radio reception also, where did you source bypass cable? Thank you again

Also does anyone have a link on how to remove all the panels to get to the install. That's actually the part I'm most concerned about haha. Thanks.
just did this installed with the help of your video on a 2007 997.1 Turbo but I ran into a little problem with he headlights. After the new radio the headlight stay on all the time, turn the light switch does nothing. I installed the old radio to see what happens and the headlights are back to working like normal. I went through the menu to see if there's a setting and couldn't really find anything. Now after going back and forth messing with it, the amp seems to no be working properly. Any idea on what setting I have to mess with to get the headlight to working correctly? Thanks in advance.
Great video! I have a few questions. How long does it take to power on? On the video is seems slow. Does that warning come on every time or is there a way to turn it off? Is the sound quality good? Better than the oem? Thanks
The video is how long it takes, it's been fine for me. I can't recall if the warning is everytime, but I'm just use to it, it's like all the other CarPlay units I've used. Sound quality I feel is better then my original PCM, but I also think CarPlay enhances the quality, since I get better audio on my BMW Android Auto unit with CarPlay.
Thank you for posting this. I have been told that the radio reception with the PCCM Plus is not as good as the reception provided by the original unit. What has been your experience with radio reception?
My reception is just as good, make sure you install the antenna bypass, otherwise your reception will be really bad and probably what people are complaining about.
I have the same problem. CarPlay in Bluetooth volume is way too low. I have a convertible Boxster and even turning it up to 30 which is the highest. I can hardly hear when the top is down the volume on the FM radio. It’s just fine someone on another forum suggested to reinstall, the original unit and turn the volume all the way up before removing it.
All these wires & components are supposed to be ordered one by one or we can place order complete as a kit & then check installation accordingly ? Thankyou
I purchased it from at the local Porsche dealership in Fremont, CA. All Porsche dealerships were allocated some, just not sure which will have it in stock. Fremont had 6 when I purchased mine.
This was a big launch a few months ago... Shocking that no CarPlay via Bluetooth is possible. And at least not replacing with USB C!? Clearly an incomplete product in my opinion. And at that price point!! :(
I would disagree. Plugging in is not that big of a deal and having plug and play install, along with integrated with all the native controls justifies the price point for me. I have no regrets on the price I paid for the unit and very happy with the results and the unit. Paying $1000 for an aftermarket that isn't as plug and play for me justifies the extra $500, even if the after market supports wireless CarPlay. It's not like they can develop the feature set the same year they release the unit, R&D takes time and wireless CarPlay wasn't as stable or offered when the started developing the unit.
@@EPaul having a cable laying around is no longer a desired feature for a recently launched Infotainment unit. All of my other CarPlay units (3 in total) still use USB-A.
