- Provided by Professor Bernard Headley as part of John Jay College's Fall 2013 Immigration and Deportation Initiative (bit.ly/16BYpRT), this video, produced by the British High Commission, details some of the services available for deportees returning to Jamaica to successfully reintegrate into Jamaican society.
Being deported from the US was a blessing for me .took me a little while to appreciate Jamaica and all the opportunities that are here.my family took me to america when i was 11 years old i got deported when i was 27 because of the wrong crowd , came here and saw foreigners having their nest lives and decided i was going to do that too right now life could not be better,i have more than most jamaicans overseas have and mone of the stress.when my family saw how well i was living they all want to come home. America is already built out, jamaica is just starting..The opportunities are bountiful. It was a blessing getting deported. Thanks USA.
I am Guyanese and could not agree more. All west Indians should go back home and build up our beautiful countries. America is not it. More stress, process foods and so much more. We get to pick fruits straight from the tree in our country instead of paying 4 dollars for mango. Good for you. I wish you all the best. You are where you belong❤️
I am glad that these deportees are treated with dignity.
If what the people are saying in the comment section is true they need to take down this video.
That is why i comment on this video. They need take it down
A year on, it's still up.
Wow!am so proud of these people .Seems like the y r doing better than they were over seas.life doesn't end if u have life in u.God bless u all
Well done. Feel so proud of those people who restarted their lives.
Sad
Where was this service for the newly arrived deportees last week?.....I didn't see any welcome except the voluntary help offered by one lady outside Norman Manley airport..Action speak louder than lofty words.
I'm sorry when were you deported ? and which city in uk were u living before you been deported.. I see if I can help you anyway I can
It's one big shit show production
First time seeing this video from mi do it 7years ago
i well do back home right now. if i did have my own home in Jamaica
I say the same thing everyday ..but I started to put everything in place to start building my house in Jamaica 🇯🇲 🙌
Jamaica is a small island with 3.5 million people and the Government really do try to help people but they just can't help everyone.
BULLSHIT..............as some with a Caribbean background born in London, I have never met you with this kind of helpful attitude. I have asthma and had a hernia repair Op. In Antigua in 2020, pensioners weren't ec=ven paid for 5 month.
A Jamaica has become a holiday hub for freeloader tourists who worsen the health and social well being of Jamaican society.
Your Government disgusts me.
@@harvestcanada not all is well in paradise.
That's what I thought, most of the video, paint a encouraging picture that you'll be well taken care of as a deportee, but the reality is far different, and if you return to Jamaica expecting nothing, that's the way you'll survive and move forward in case you may get help from the authorities, but it's mostly help yourself or get help from relatives.
Getting information is key. Maybe people don’t know how to navigate the system.
Too good to be true.
We don't have services like that for regular people who never left, never tried to leave and have always lived on the island to get their lives on track. What about them?
We do, Hearts is free up to level 4 and the government pay you to get a skill like plumbing, among many others, and buy tools for you inorder to get started after completion. You also have red cross and food for the poor organization.
Very articulate and inspiring to depotees, whether educated like him or not, opportunities are available to start over
This just looks like a smooth pr piece
Absolutely. This woman needs to shut up, when was this piece written anyway?
This video sponsored by the British High Commission - "Maximum pressure!"
One of my saddest encounters with a Jamaican was a worker in my country. After 5 yrs on a work permit he had to leave. He was on his knees crying and begging for renewal. His boss tried but he was denied because there was a citizen who could now do the job. He talked about how hard life was in his country and he needed a few more years of work. We collected 30,000 US dollars and gave it to him as a gift but oh how he cried. Don't understand why its do hard to make ot in your homeland. We have tough times at home bit we manage. Very few of us leave to live in another country. Even oir college kids for the most part come home. Usually marriage in their adopted country make them stay. So yes its hard for me to wrap my head aroind illegal immigration.
So he spent five years in your country working and didn't make life better for himself in Jamaica? Life in his situation shouldn't be hard because If your country is not poorer than Jamaica, during that five years he should have been preparing, its not his country of birth. He should have been able to start a business, make a house, and have saving during that five years. Only 12% of Jamaicans live in the lower class and. He could have move up classes if he wanted to.
If you do the crime deport, what i don't understand you innna America 40 50 30 yrs man and you not a citizen that's madness.
I need help. Help me to come home and find a job in the heavy equipment industry
What about starting a business in that industry? Learn business skills and get the required funding and knowledge and do it.
Its good to know. I have always wondered what happened to these people 😊
Hardly any help at hand
How can you repartition to your own country of birth, some of those Jamaican left the country with the intention not to returned. I been traveling more than 35years now living in more than one country, I liked in England for a while.
I married in more than 30years but I didn't like there, because it is too slow for me. My ex wife is living in England from 1963 with her parents and then, her wife left to the United States just like my father.
I am living in the United States for 26years now as a citizen, because according to their laws it does not take much to get you into trouble at all. I really blamed some Jamaican because they are living in some of those countries too long and, refused to be a citizen of that country. I have seeing a lot of them and encouraged a couple of them, but they refused to listened to nobody at all.
In the last 30years things in the foreign countries is changed dramatically, against foreigners .
Because most of those countries economy is getting weaker and weaker each year,so they are trying to get rid of the illegal aliens and the problematic people them.
So you are got to be very careful not to fall into certain situations, because the government them is not joking. They are trying to find means and ways to get rid of you out of their country, it is a very serious situation in the United States now.
Nice
Its of great importance that anybody who have been deported from any countries do formulate a plan of survival in coming back to their homeland.you just have to be intrested in doing the right thing in your return whatever monetary help try to make it work for you so as to get back on your feet asap,be ambitious you all and make a difference to survive let it be known youare not a menace to society. be bless you all.
When I was deported to Jamaica In 2011, all the benefits this video said they offer the deportee is a lie. I told them I was homeless and they told me, there nothing they can do. It was a lady who told me how to get my TRN and driver licence. All lies. More then half of this country is return resident. A third of the deportee goes crazy, 15% become criminals, 23% leave the Island, The rest fine their way. Like I said this video is a lie.
Wow
Girl how did u manage?!? What made u get deported if u don’t mind?
@@prettywings3419 Girl I have My house and great family. I GOT DIP because i was set up to look like i sell drug. because i wouldnt Tell on the ppl they ask me about. They sent me to jail for 8 years then jamaica. Jamaica dont help their ppls
💯👏💯👏💯👏💯👏 CORRECT only reason jaimaica 🇯🇲 is existed was TOURISM ,/ CRUISE 🛳 SHIP FEES. with corona virus let's see how functional the government is 😒🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Shouldn't have committed an offence in the country that took you in then, should you. If I go to Jamaica and commit a crime I will be deported from Jamaica.
thats a very good program
It's TRUE this system is arranged between the Brits n Ja but they don't tell anyone. Ja keep every bite of this money.
This is very good to know.
People say this is a lie they get no help
Why are you getting deported? I
what's the name of that host?
Surname Chung
BOLLOCKS, I have been around these people and this aint it.
I'd advise the British Government to give the money or whatever directly to the people and not depend on the thieving government to care about those folks because they will never even get a promise if not given directly.
This video sounds like a political ad campaign
Why should Jamaicans foot the bill for criminals ?
Good question, Jamaicans in Jamaica shouldn't have to foot the bill for no Jamaican who left to build another country and have not contributed anything to their homeland. All Jamaican should be building Jamaica even if they are not living I'm Jamaica. When the day comes that they might return, they won't have any issue.
Wow.. great see out of nothing becomes something..
To think Jamaicans did not need papers to visit UK, thanks to people like Roy fowl completely mash up it up for future citizens. I don't feel sorry for none of them, where was all this hard work and entrepreneurial spirit while in the UK. Bear Alms house behavior....aye sah.
Welcoming and accomodating 🤔🙄😏
Nice way to cushion an embarrassing situation..lol
PROPAGANDA.. DON'T BELIEVE A WORD!! ❤️
This is good
Pick them up jamaicans if i can help i want to help them

Repatriated… committed crimes bad enough to warrant deportation….
Don’t talk like that RGD is a run around name spelling wrong that place is just a nightmare for people
Politics. All bull
As I was watching this video, I was in shock that my former country was doing such an outstanding charity deed to deportees. The Jamaica I knew used to abuse and mistreat their own people, no matter how young or how old. They would not care if you were having a final meal of scraps, they would take it from you. Is this video telling truth? I'm having a very difficult time believing any of this. Why? As many are aware that many out there in Jamaica who has lived their entire lives, are left to become beggars, due to old age, disabled or poverty. I hope am wrong about my feelings on this, but I strongly suspect that this video is a fake. Sorry Jamaica.
the video is a lie
Dont have to break the law in America to get deported. ZoAnn site. You most not know the laws of the land. Or you just dont read. Ignorant people like you are the reason why thing dont change. Stay off our comments. Stupid ass person
You're not talking the truth, Jamaica was very nice but not now, I'm scared of going to Jamaica not even to visit, it gone to the johncrows right now, you all are lying
Real bullshit
Hair nails glue and chicken back Jamaica Jamaica
Terrible
'The most' this, 'the most' that. So superlative, always culturally arrogant, and so untrue. It takes away from the plight of the people in this story, especially during these hard days of no movement and covid.
This unfair for the British Governments to do that has been in England since they are children. I heared white Europeans committee crimes they don.T send them home. But when are black and Jamaica this what happened
