Does the NEW 2020 Toyota Tundra SR5 have ENOUGH changes?

- The 2020 Tundra is here and there have been some updates by Toyota. Under the hood is one engine option for the new year. It is the 5.7L V8 pumping out 381 HP & mated to a 6-speed gearbox. On the inside there are some wanted updates, finishes and there is the return of the crew cab. Did Toyota do enough to make you want to go out and buy the 2020 Tundra?

I buy toyota because of the bullet proof quality the bells and whistles dont matter too much to me as long as the vehicle out last the payments .
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
toyo 250 this exactly what matters. People forget that Toyota didn’t need bells and whistles because they didn’t go bottom up like their competitors did during the auto bell out! Those other trucks are showy but poor quality when it comes down to it! I know how to add my own bells and whistles if needed. What I want is a reliable truck that doesn’t break like Ford and Chevy did!
Scotty kilmer recommends the f150 over the tundra for reliability
This is why I’m looking at one. I’ve had my silverado loaded out for almost 6 years and looking at engine issues a couple months before it’s paid for. Everyone I know with a Toyota has no issues.
toyo 250
True, just like any truck that has been well maintained. But it will not pass a gas station like some of it's competitors. Lol
Got a 2011 tundra SR5 383,000 miles on it, overloaded daily with 12,000+ lbs trailer.... not a single problem yet. It's Bulletproof i see no reason to upgrade
royalmac1011 Chevy or dodge would’ve exploded way before even 100k miles
@@kevs2good133 lmao
how is your fuel millage when you are towing that trailer????
@@trevorryder5211 what fuel mileage?
James Mastroianni fuel per gallon when towing
You want a truck that will outlive you and last until
Your son is 60 you buy this truck!
Great review !
You are so very right Humberto.
Check out this one ...same Tundra but with a sport package! ruclips.net/video/WOVJ6Gr81nw/видео.html
Joe I'm going to contact RUclips and make them give you the hardest-working RUclipsr award, cuz you're killing it man!
Foreal
He makes so many videos that I am just about at the point I know what he is going to say before he says it, and what he is going to #Zonk. 🤣
You’ve got to be kidding me... this video was useless! It’s the same truck as the year before.. 😂

I used to be a GM guy. Then l gave up on then. I bought a 2012 F-150, and l loved the truck. Not one single problem in the 6 years that l owned it. Due to circumstances, l had to sell it and reluctantly bought a 2012 Tacoma. My opinion of Toyota changed very quickly. If l was looking for a fullsize pickup again. I'd but a Tundra!!!!!!! Toyota Pickups don't seem to get the best mileage by a long shot. But the reliability is what l want, and I'm willing to give up some mileage to get it. Great Video!!!!
Ford is a great truck but if you need something that will outlive you buy a Toyota made truck ☺ 😊 💯
Actually there is "zero" competition if you want quality.
Very good point!
Never got to see the back seats 😁
Yeah, 🤔?
The camera crew got lost in the interior! :o
Three years ago today! Still my 1st pickup.
Great review. One thing I would like to point out is the basic SR5 doesn't have the center console/shifter or power driver's seat. You have to have at least the "SR5 upgrade package" for about $950 to get it. Well worth it in my opinion to get the power seat for those long trip adjustments so your back doesn't seize up. Just bought one yesterday and then watched this review, so I kind of did things in reverse order. I didn't know the rear window came down until I saw this, so I ran outside and tried it (my dog will love this), so you see how much research I did. But I didn't have to do too much. This is my second one. The first is a 2001 with 340K miles that my son has now. Best vehicle I ever owned. Never did anything but routine maintenance and changed out the front ball joints and a wheel bearing, just wear and tear stuff. Some of things I read were that the truck is outdated. I think Toyota is more concerned that oil doesn't leak all over your driveway in 10 years or your fuel pump doesn't crap out every 75K miles or your fancy valve lifter control system doesn't go haywire than chasing the latest "tech" trend. Had a great experience with my 2012 Camry (240K miles) as well. I'm sorry. I've had a Suburban, a Sierra and a Taurus. I've done my duty with two out of the big three.
Thanks for that info Allen!
Allen Bishop same here. My fords and gm’s are not even close on reliability. Will take that over gee wizzes shiny crap.
Amazing awesome fricking review bro Joe LOL. I really do think that Toyota could have done much much better with this 2020 Toyota Tundra SR5. But Joe u know me, I love my Ford Pickups especially the Ford F-150 & Ford Super-Duty and so on so forth. Would love to see a 2020 Toyota Camry TRD, & a 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO 1 day. Thanks Joe.
Always a good feeling watching a local RUclipsr (driving roads are familiar!) Keep it up Joe!
Thanks! That really means a lot!
Excellent review and great job. Very informative and very appreciated! Thanks.
There is LED lighting on SR5. Has a one strip on the bottom of each headlight. 👍🏼
I bought a brand new 2013 4runner SR5 without leather and navigation and it is still going strong. It’s all paid for it. As long as you keep up with maintenance, oil change, etc. it will run forever. I love Toyota. I’m thinking about a new Tundra. Great review on this SR5. Beautiful classic black is my favorite color.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Can you put that Android Auto / Apple CarPlay radio into a 2018 or 2019 Tundra?
Do you even sleep my man😟. Appreciate all your hard work

I can see how it needs a new gen, but for me, this is all I need.
Hey joe, you’re the best. Enjoy your videos.
In the half ton segment isn’t it HALF TON of competition!
Thanks for your support John and your kind words. I tripped over my thoughts. You are so very right.
**says the tundra has done 1 million miles before**
Me: Oh damn... I knew toyota was reliable but damn...
Check out this one ...same Tundra but with a sport package! ruclips.net/video/WOVJ6Gr81nw/видео.html
I love the look of the Tundra, has everything you need in a truck and its done right. its a toyota and that in itself is worth it, I'm looking to buy a pickup and this is my first choice, gonna see if i can get the price right that i can afford it, may have to go used but that's ok, or may go down to a tacoma either way I'm gonna do my best to get into a toyota
I have the 2020 tundra with the column shift. Just love it. The 5.7 engine is a beast.
Can you tell me why they didn’t put a transmission cooler in the truck?
Great review!!
I love the serenades. Interesting, Demo.
Thanks man!
It’s so reliable it’s worth getting and just upgrading when the refresh comes out.
What happened to the backseat review of this truck.. it didn't make it into the video?
Will it charge phones while the truck is off and key is out ?
I had a 2002 Tundra SR5 4x4 that I owned for 17 years and finally broke down and bought the '19 Limited CM 4x4 with the moon roof last December. Nothing wrong with that 2002, it drove like a champ but it did need a paint job from all those years baking in the SoCal sun. I just fell in love with the new Tundra when I saw it and had been saving for a new one all those years. That's the plus with a truck like this. You will have it a LOOOOOONG time after it's paid off; take advantage of that and save for the next one. By the time the truck dies, you should be able to afford another one easily as you didn't shell out money to keep it running all those years. I'll be retiring in a few years and buying a trailer for full time living (researching those now) and will do some traveling. Tundra should be perfect for hauling me around and providing the reliability I have always had with them. Been driving nothing but Toyota 4x4 trucks since 94 and all the doodads on the other brands don't sway me.
Can’t wait to see you to review 2021 Tundra, Sienna and Sequoia. They are some already at Chicago Auto Show. Thank you in advance!
Thanks John! Stay tuned!
I have a 2015, solid build, no major issues, love the tundra
Thanks for sharing that input based off of your experience!
i like to review 2020 toyota tundra limited. does limited have automatic side mirror folding.
What happened to rear seats test? You mentioned that and then skipped straight to driving test?
Love this truck it was basic just what I’m looking for thanks
Hey at 11:12 you were going to check out the back seat space, but then it cuts to the driving. Where is that part? Thanks.
Sorry there was an issue with that footage.
I have heard that SR5 Sports Package (20" wheels) is better on the highway than TRD Pro, the off-road variation with 18" wheels.
You convince us to buy a billion different cars lol you’re the real MVP!
Thanks James! I promise you I want to take them all home with me!
I think Toyota makes just enough changes each time to spark peoples interests in hopes that previous owners or new buyers will buy them.🤷🏻♂️ Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
L S Nice job at what exactly???? Bullshitting everybody for 15 mins. on that the new 2020 Tundra had changed???? Same thing as 2015
Does the diameter of the wheel matter for offroading? I wanna get the sr since its cheaper but are the wider wheels on the other trucks better? Could I just get bigger tires for offroading? Does anyone have any insight?
Size, weight and material= mass rotation
Are you sure that it has dual power seats?
Sir, if you would please do a review on 2020 sequoia TRD pro. Thank you.
Wow, great review 👍
Nice Truck and likely dependable but they can do a bit better than 17 mpg maybe add remote start for those cold mornings or hot days where you could remotely roll down that back window to get the heat out of the interior also for a 2020 it should have L.E.D headlights
As usual Joe.. Excellent presentation. Love my 2018 Tundra. It’s nothing fancy but it’s sort of like a Swiss Army knife .. it does everything without much fuss.. love it’s chunky looks. I’m out numbered by Chevy and Ford here in OK.. I’m satisfied.
I just upgraded my 2016 Toyota tundra TSS sport series to a 2020 Toyota TSS off road 4x4 due to engine problems. But I loveeeee my tundras, but has anyone had a problem with the traction control off light coming on with the check engine light and codes reading air flow sensors. The tech couldn't figure out the problem and I had that problem 5 times since April 2018 so it was time to let the 2016 go.
Waiting on the 2021 model.
I'd like for them to bring back the driver side pillar grab handle. Is that asking too much? I hate grabbing the steering wheel to get into the driver seat.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective on this one! I appreciate you watching!
Toyota also seems to forget to update their cars. Theres the Sienna since 2011, the tundra since like 09 I think, the 4Runner, and also I think the highlander.
Toyota doesn't forget. It's intentional, because their customers are dummies and fall for marketing gimmicks. Toyota used the K platform for the Camry from 2002 up to 2017 Camry. They're STILL using the K platform for their 2020 Lexus RX. NX is still on the "New" MC platform that dates to the 2005 RAV4 which also dates to the 2001 Corolla. 2 decades on a platform. How smart can their customers be?
@@vegasmooch
Yeah. Everytime they reveal a new redesign I'm like, I bet that engine is from 2003. But their loyal customers always say.
"If it ain't broke, why fix it"
vegasmooch smart enough to know there cars won’t blow up in there face and why redesign when it works great
Joe, I heard it takes a lot of effort to edit videos, and you just keep on spitting out videos, you really are the hardest working man I know. Keep up the amazing work!❤❤❤
But really, slow down, you're going to run out of cars at the rate your going. Give yourself a break
Toyo still selling 115K+ Tundras each yr. Refresh or no refresh, the sales numbers does not dip.
From a 2016 SR5 owner:
Headlights, grill, instrument panel, that is all
(wipes sweat from forehead)
You are spot on.
So crazy thats nice my friend from Sénégal
I love mine! Only complaint so far is the lack of paint. So freakin thin.
46K no way that should be around 36K
Steve austin we wish. That truck would be the king seller if they priced it that way
@@ghilliemanreviews You know that I have seen some of them go for 36-38K now. I almost purchased a TRD Sport double cab for 38295 but ended up buying the TRD PRO.
Steve austin you would spend much more on repairs per yr on a gm or ford. I know, been there.
@@samrumade9429 Yes I agree which is why I did not go that route. Even though the Tundra didn't get as good fuel mileage as Ford(The only other one I was looking at) it still beats them all in reliability and I hope mine doesn't dissapoint me....so far so good.
How much out of the door??
I definitely want one. I’m curious what they do to the redesign next year. I heard they made a claim that it’ll get 30mpg. I’m more of a V8 guy but if they actually make a hybrid tundra that gets that good of mpg, I’d be willing to give it a shot. If anyone can do it, Toyota could.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
The most awaited review for me.... Will this be my daily driver - Oh yes!!! Until I heard you quietly saying on the mileage economy 😒 Thanks for the great reviews always.
I just bought one and milk it, I get 17-18 MPG on the back roads!
I have 2011 Tacoma no problem from purchase and paid off love it and Tundra will be my next
That is really awesome!
10 years from now the 2020 will still be on the road with great resale value more than any other half pick trucks
just priced up f150 and tundra today, the tundra is still more competitive in pricing, which i find hard to believe. i got my 2015 3k less than a comparably equipped f150 even with the family pricing at that time of year.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Do the 21's have a refresh funny I use to live in Wesley Chapel for 2 years what a memory I saw the biggest gators I have ever seen there
25 th XD I saw a wrx sti today and it looked like a lowered rally car great review
So Mr Raiti,,, out of all the 1/2 ton trucks you’ve reviewed... which one would you purchase if you was buying 1 tomorrow? And don’t cop out. True answer please !
was there an editing error , no rear seat evaluation shown?
The footage got corrupted; Sorry about that!
@@RaitisRides ZONK!!!....lol,,,,,you gotta make a zonk compilation of short zonks
Weren’t you supposed to show us the rear legroom 🤔
Sure, but only if I could afford it. I was actually in my buddy's 2018 Tundra last night. Amazing how nice they truly are. #Bulletproof
They are. Until you ride in a Silverado, Ram or F-150. Then you see how dated it is...don’t get me wrong. It’s nice. But it is lacking..ride quality is pretty good though...just needs redesign bad....
@@semiauto3148 Exactly. I use to own a Tundra Rock Warrior and sold it a few years ago. Got the truck itch a year later and went truck shopping. I was surprised at how much I disliked the Tundra after driving the other competition. The only thing I miss is the roll down rear window the Tundra crewmax has that its competitors doesn't.
mrjjthor Thor that is a cool option...I liked it also. But it wasn’t enough for me. I just bought a 19 Chevy. Love it. Tundra was nice riding and way better than the 15 I drove..but still lacking in the tech stuff like then Chevy Ford And Ram have..but in the end I’m sure it’s a more dependable truck. Oh well. They are all nice. Just buy the one you like the best
Love the v8 and the size of the interior. I wish they made it with a front bench seat. I like the cup holder in the center console that can make it a 6 passenger. Just personal preference. Gotta love the reliability.
This is so very true!
Pay at the pump or pay at the shop!
Only drawback on my Tundra is the contour of the seating as well as my Toyota 2010 Toyota Avalon
The seat is very uncomfortable ...but I still wouldn't trade off for anything else.
Thanks for sharing that great input!
Im in the Market this week . this is first review I watched ! Im almost sold! I want to check MSRP on the high end trim package. what is the package? did you say TRD? I live by Larry Miller Toyota! can Wesley Chapel ship one up to me cheaper than the local dealership? they actually got looted I think last week! might have to go other place!
This is an SR5 trim (toward the bottom end) the higher end would be the 1794 edition or the famous TRD line. That's where you'll reach north of 50k.
9:44 he says both the passenger and driver has power seating but as the camera pans down you see the passenger has manual controls on the seat
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
You did not feature the rear seat.
I worked for Lexus for 15 years, Toyota knows how to build updated trucks
I love this truck!❤️
2021 Toyota Tundra all new redesign inside and out, Gen 4 Tundra!
I can't wait Michael!
I like it!
I've sold cars for the past 5 years and the Tundra has not "really" changed in more then a decade
AGREED!
If ain't Broke don't fix it. Reliability and Resale Value Trumps Everything Else.
@@theobservermelanin1746 that true the resale and reliability on those things are crazy, no one and I mean no even comes close
@Tony Brown
My truck is paid for 2007 with 139,000 miles. I have done some upgrades and believe me it was worth it.
@Tony Brown
But I don't care about the look as much as resale value and Reliability. See looks can be deceiving , especially when you go over 200k miles. The Tundra has been perfected. Toyota is changing the Look in 1 or 2 yrs from now. At least that's what I have been hearing.
Nice truck. Don’t know it has changed or not but it look nice.
👍💯video💯👍
Very, very little.
I wish they still had the 4.6. I also wish you could build a regular cab on line with the 4.6 4x4 with sr5 package. You also forgot the lowest crash rating. I loved my tundra. Wanted to get the regular cab before the new one comes out.
I totally agree with you!
Have not done enough. I’m a fan of Toyota but disappointed in them with the age of the Tundra and 4Runner. I don’t expect great MPG out of a V8 but being dead last is not acceptable to me.
New redesign/engine redo INCOMMING soon ☺
White Fox yep, just anxious for Toyota to put some pep in their step in making it happen 😬
Thank you
I thought you were going to review the fully loaded Honda Accord Touring 2.0 in the Platinum White? 😭😩
It is coming Dante, stay tuned!
Raiti's Rides yay ! 🙌🏽
I am going to pick up my Tundra 2021 SR5 tomorrow.
That is so awesome!
How much u payed
@11:08 you skipped from the driver seat segment to the driving segment. I guess in the edit you forgot to add the rear passenger seating segment. Just a heads up.
Thanks Noel! Some of the footage was corrupted! Sorry about that! I will have another 2020 Toyota Review for you!
Why did it spit out so much water
Well the guy missed several key factors with the new design like no more antenna on the fender and it's nice to see the leather seats
can we bring back column shifters on trucks thanks
Many 1/2 ton trucks have them.
Did you intentionally left out the review of back seats?
That was my mess up. Sorry about that George.
Love my 2008 betta!
Outdated headlights, come on Toyota bring some projectors with leds! btw nice review Joe
You are so very right!
He said no led headlights on the sr5 trim. Above that they get LEDs. Just like our 2018 ford 250 xlt (similar to sr5) has halogen.
As long as toyota maintains its tradition of reliability and good quality I dont mind.
It’s an insult to our intelligence for Toyota to run this model out again and call it a 2020. Nice review once again Joe.
I totally agree with you! You are so very welcome!
I like toyota. Never had an issue. Why does the tundra have the same payload as the tacoma? Would be nice to put a good slide in camper in a dependable truck.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
dude why didn't you do the the Toyota sweet spot. A Crew max Tundra with sr5 upgrade package and TRD off road package.
I have more to come my friend. This was the only one available at the time!
The side windows look similar to the GMC Canyon, Chevrolet Colorado, and the Ford Ranger.
Still needs alot of updates i would get if they just update
