This was the unplugged June 17, 1995 at Jani Lane's Sunset Strip in Orlando. There's another version (DVD? VHS?) where my face is in it but this version they cropped 0:49 to zoom in on our women - my buddy wife (Black top with hole in it) and my wife in the blue blouse beside her. My buddy up above between them and my hand on my wife's shoulder. We were right up front resting up against the equipment cases at the stage.
Is it just me, or does this cover say a lot about Dokken at this time, as well as hard rock/metal in that moment? It has a quiet, sad, melancholic rage. Thank God we all survived!
Just discovered this version 3 years ago. I was a big DOKKEN fan in the beginning but loss interest in late 80s as I was into Thrash music more. This band was part of my teenage years and introduced me into Heavier Metal. I found this CD in a car I bought and Man is it good. DOKKEN is still around but soon all of our 80s bands will disappear. I hope when I die I get taking back to the 80s for Eternity.
@Dokkenfan88 I saw them just on 3/27 in MN here, though it was a small venue, his voice was pretty worn out. They sounded pretty good overall. Someone posted 'Dream Warriors' from that show here on youtube
@Dokkenfan88 i saw them this year and it hurts to say that he doesn't put any energy into his performance anymore he gets short winded to easy that he doesn't hit the high notes long enough
There might have been things I missed But don't be unkind It don't mean I'm blind Perhaps there's a thing or two I think of lying in bed I shouldn't have said But there it is You see, it's all clear You were meant to be here From the beginning Maybe I might have changed And not been so cruel Not been such a fool Whatever was done is done I just can't recall It doesn't matter at all You see, it's all clear You were meant to be here From the beginning
Genesis 1:1-5 KJV [1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. [4] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. [5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. IN THE BEGINNING - TIME GOD - FORCE CREATED - ENERGY THE HEAVEN- SPACE AND THE EARTH - MATTER
Yes. They did a wonderful cover, and it comes close to ELP. But it's two different genres and I think the original progressive-rock band did a better job doing their progressive-rock tune.
Awesome Song by Dokken...i see u r a George Lynch fan like me......so check out the bad ass song called "Go Fuck Yourself..... Watch for George and also dUg Pennick....its newer and so COOL!!! ~w~ Band is Roxanne!!! Hope u like !!

Came here just out of curiosity but I was pleasantly surprised at the job they did on this song.
Beautiful. Im a huge Greg Lake fan and love this song .
I grew up listening to ELP's original, but this is my favorite. Solid album - love this band!
A little late, but I agree. This album is in my top 10 all time! What Price!
R.I.P. Keith Emerson
bought this album when it came out and just love what they did with this elp tune.
very honorable tribute to them.
Whatever is done is done !
Great version of a beautiful tune. Kudos guys...
Just fantastic. I think even ELP themselves would like this cover!!
This is awesome!!! Loved the original, this is almost (maybe) better...could listen over again for hours!!!

It has a quiet, sad, melancholic rage.
Thank God we all survived!
@EddieRay VanLynch I agree. "Quiet, sad, melancholic rage", in other words: SOUL!

Just from this comment, I think you might really enjoy the Dokken album Erase the Slate.
Emerson lake palmer cover...nicely done.
very good !!! I remember it live with Aldo nova and blue oyster cult what a show
Great cover.
I did see him live 3 times! Last year and again this year. They were asked back by POPULAR DEMAND at the Halfway Jam 2nd year in a row.
and just FYI he was recovering from cancer in 2012 so that might be why he wasn't at his best at the time.
Sensacional!!!!!!
Best music ever
Wow pleasantly surprised!
2:07 Paul Jackson from Blackberry smoke raising his fist in the air

i met them in person, DOn and Jeff were really sweet but George wasn't really friendly
Some people are just really shy so don't take it like they hate you or anything.
Gotta love Mick ! Looks like a good fella in this vid

There might have been things I missed
But don't be unkind
It don't mean I'm blind
Perhaps there's a thing or two
I think of lying in bed
I shouldn't have said
But there it is
You see, it's all clear
You were meant to be here
From the beginning
Maybe I might have changed
And not been so cruel
Not been such a fool
Whatever was done is done
I just can't recall
It doesn't matter at all
You see, it's all clear
You were meant to be here
From the beginning
...but seeing him live is something different
By the way this Doctor is similar a bit in hairstyle with Greg Lake but not on hair colour im afraid.
Fun fact i will be with ELP when i will be Adagio Dazzle and the 6th Doctor
Always B.
yeah at the time i took it personally, but i did find out from others that George Lynch can be a bit standoffish, that is just his personality

IN THE BEGINNING - TIME
GOD - FORCE
CREATED - ENERGY
THE HEAVEN- SPACE
AND THE EARTH - MATTER
Good remake of ELP.
That's not fair :(
Almost as good as Greg Lake.
+less0than0impressed Better in my opinion! 3:)
my name is Greg and I have seen E.LP and Dokken in concert several times and you cant touch MR LAKE on this number not even close.
MrSmokeydog agree on that.
Better than the original in my opinion.

que gran version, erra un poco con la letra, pero esta bien igual el homenaje.

Mean or just antisocial?
@motleycrue24 maybe your talking about yourself..... LOL
he was antisocial
Don doesn't sound good anymore some people say hey? What a joke......
LOL, Dokken does this song better than Greg Lake.
LMAO, that's funny, nice respectful cover, but Greg Lake's voice and Keith's synths at the end, incomparable
They do a great job but ..... not better than ELP.
Total poop
Your a expert on poop since you are a piece of SHIT! 3:)
David Lee
No, I'm not shit.. I'm THE shit.
+ShadowⓋ Have you looked in the mirror lately?... Shit Face all the way down to the exact color! LOL... No, You are SHIT. 3:)
