  • Today's lesson is an extremely important one! Resonance is a key part of not only a beautiful sound, but a healthy one. If you're struggling with fatigue or endurance issues in singing or talking, you' may not be finding your natural resonant sound.
Use this video to learn more about what resonance is and how to find it in your voice. I give 3 exercises here. Try all 3 and see which one makes the most sense to you. You can use it in the exercises here or any exercise or song of your choice.
    TIPS:
    1. REMEMBER to rely on how the sound FEELS, not how it sounds! You are the only person who can't hear your voice accurately because it is inside your head. If you're unsure how it's sounding, try recording yourself and listening back.
    2. The feel you're going for - free, easy and in-tune (meaning you're hitting all the notes accurately, right in the center of the pitch, not too low or too high) It should feel like you could sing all day!
    3. Smile! Don't take yourself too seriously. Smiling will help the sound be more resonant, and bonus points if you laugh too, which will help you connect to your breath. If you're not having fun you're not doing it right!

I don't know why struggle with learning. I've recently got back to singing so I try remind myself I can only get better. But we don't see it so its more of feeling it and I get lost. Slow learner I guess 😢.

Don't be too hard on yourself! Remember, if you're not having fun, you're not doing it right :) We are taught that singing is a natural skill, you're either good at it or bad at it. But the reality is, we are all born with some amount of natural ability and then it's all about practice! Don't compare yourself to others, compare yourself to your past self to see how far you've come!
