    I am a former teacher. I respect accompanists more than I can express! Most of us teachers are not musicians. I imagine I frustrated some of my accompanists, especially as a young teacher. I loved it when an accompanist and I clicked! Now that I am retired, I have been studying piano for almost 3 years. My teacher is one of my favorite, gifted accompanists! She’s from Kazakhstan and doesn’t hand out compliments easily. So when she says, “Well done,” I get so excited! I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for posting them. I’d enjoy a video about how a teacher can help an accompanist. What things are helpful? Not helpful?

      Hi Vicki! Thanks for your comment 😃 Happy to read about your interest in music and your respect for the accompanists. Yes, it's wonderful when a ballet teacher and a musician click 🌟 I've been thinking a lot about this topic that you mention, and yes, it is a very good idea for a future video 😉👌🏼 Continue enjoying your piano lessons! And please, share these videos with other ballet pianists ad teachers that can find them helpful and inspiring 🙏🏼🎶

    I’ve found your videos so helpful as I am learning how to play for ballet class. I find the centre work often the most difficult to find the right music for, especially in petit allegro as there can be so many types of music in this category!
    Thank you for the videos :)

      Thanks for your comment! Very happy to see that these videos are helping 🤩 Yes, petit allegro is tricky at the beginning. Actually, it’s a very good topic to speak about 👍🏼 I’ll have it on my list 🤓🎹

    Love the Magic Flute example! I like adapted classical pieces for ballet class exercises, as a dancer I find them very enriching. 😉

      Thanks Pilar! Yes, exactly! I found that classical pieces have a natural and organic connection with ballet exercises. They fit so well with the style and with the phrasings 😍🎶👍🏼 I mean, ballet exercises were created in Baroque and classical Periods, right?

    This is great and I’ll keep watching! So... for tendus, there is no absolute “need” for a strong stress on 2 and 4 (as in Chicago)? :-) Thankssss!

    • @marianapalaciospianist
      @marianapalaciospianist  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your comments and for sharing your questions ☺️ No, I don’t think there is a “need” for that. If I understand you well, the accents in the 2 and 4 are what gives the jazzy feeling, right? Because in that case, I’d play something jazzy or in a Broadway style (like “All that jazz”) if the teachers marks with that syncopation/jazzy feeling or if I feel that the teacher will like the style or I feel that the class needs some “up” and “spicy” feeling 🔥 I hope this answers your question.
