Man's entirety self trained and putting together compositions that would make Bach weep. What a legend
bs. bach got its own period in time for jusic and so does uematsu. nobody would weep for another.
The crowd filling in the choir bits and Uematsu smiling. Love it!
I love how much he loves it when the audience gets to participate in his songs! He seems to enjoy encouraging it with One Winged Angel too, since I heard he requests the audience to chant the ‘SEPHIROTH!’ parts beforehand at the Distant Worlds concerts.
I swear to god when people look back at our time, people like Nobuo Uematsu are who will be seen as the Beethovens and Mozarts. Composers of video games are some of the most prodigal musicians and music makers alive. The lasting impact Uematsu will have on music composition I think will far surpass what most today would predict.
Sadly his work won’t be heard by as many as it deserves to so I’d have to disagree with you. Nobuo should be in the conversation with the likes of today’s greatest composers though for certain if there were any justice. How he pumped out the soundtracks for 7, 8, 9 and 10 in such a minuscule amount of time is beyond comprehension. He’s the Hans Zimmer of video game composition for me, their work is so integral to the films/games they work on and connect with you on a level I can’t explain.
And now he's held hostage by Apple to work on this Apple Arcade exclusive. Still waiting for Fantasian to come to PC 😢
@@eglaiosdeminecraft9259 The problem is Fantasian was commissioned by Apple leaving many of us to wonder how much would it take for Sakaguchi/Mistwalker to buy it from them since that's the only way it'll come out on other platforms. Besides, you can buy the Fantasian soundtrack!
@@kwizzeh Actually checked it out recently, and there's apparently been some kind of Steam playtest about 2 months ago, it's recorded as #2524970 on SteamDB
I kinda moved on a while ago, but maybe one day lol
@@kwizzeh Might be fake tho, the way the apple logos are just paint.exe'd out doesn't look legit at all
I like seeing Uematsu perform live because he clearly enjoys himself so much.
Yeah, above anything else, he's just a guy who loves music
It's heartwarming to see someone who's music has been such a big part of my life get up on stage and just have a ball playing what's easily his magnum opus. For people who don't know baroque music, Uematsu basically wrote an entire tocatta and fugue. He then performed them on stage with VERY minimal errors. Just writing it is impressive, but so is playing it... especially at his age. Such a great time watching this.
I love how much Uematsu gets into it when he is playing. The man loves his work and the energy is such a delight
I don’t go to concerts but my god to hear this man play anything I would pay to go see
Maestro Nobuo Uematsu looking like Cid during this performance
He _is_ Cid Highwind.

i think being able to see this live would be something verging on a religious experience
It was.
This is truly Uematsu's magnum opus.
What about One Winged Angel, though?
@@AlinaAniretake his most popular piece. but most would agree that Dancing Mad is his magnum opus
@@skullyozeez6781I would not. Dancing Mad is good, but One Winged Angel is 100% his magnum opus
@@1SeeYouSpaceCowboy1 I would not. One Winged Angel is good, but Dancing Mad is 100% his magnum opus
FVIII sound track is his magnum opus
This is what The Game Awards needs to get fans hyped.
For real. If they did that, I would flip my lid! FF6 is probably my favorite Final Fantasy game.
Instead we get nintendo neglecting all their music besides mario, music from recent AAA games that aren't FF and whatever else. Always a treat to get the asian music sections tho whenever a chinese/Japanese themed game released recently. Pan flutes are amazing
Imagine the orchestra at this event playing Dancing Mad while showing scenes from the long-awaited FFVI remake on the big screen
im so unbelievable jealous of everyone that was here to witness this :O
How lucky we are that someone filmed it in full HD so, despite us not witnessing it first hand, we can still experience it in some way!
Oh man, big daddy uematsu needs to take this on tour 😭🔥💀
妖精乱舞はFF史上最高傑作
Still my favorite theme of all FF. Nobuo's masterpiece :D
Not One Winged Angel? Not Rotting Pizza? Not Zanarkand?
@tuff_lover "Dancing Mad" I think may be his Magnum Opus.
What a legend. Uematsu can stand alongside Bach or Beethoven and not seem out of place. Thank you for uploading this. Wow.
This man is weaving the end of the world unto existence through sound alone
thats part of the theme of the game this is from- ff6. its the final boss music
halfway through it looks like the bad guy wins and destroys the world... and then the game keeps going with a changed map and drastically darker tone
いきなりノビヨ師匠が弾いててビックリした💣
俺達の憧れであり尊敬する大先生である✨
Omg his smile at 2:59 when everyone was singing along to it 😊 Thanks for this upload! I love his work and FFVI is my favorite!
Uematsu's work is intensly good. He's truly a treasure to the public.
いやぁ、すごいものみちゃった。感動。現場にいた人うらやましいよ!
大好きな曲✨この曲聞きたすぎて小学生の時小遣い貯めてサントラ買った。
Besides my immediate family there is no other man on the planet that i love more or has brought me more joy than that man Nobup Uematsu. What a freaking absolute legend. I will never forget you or let an opportunity go to pass on your name. You are may favorite composer of all time. May your name live on forever Uematsu-San. 🙏
Why does this not have more views!?

Thanks Virgil for the wise words.
The Video game Beethoven, Uematsu will live on as a legend in the composition of music.
Saw an orchestra and chorus play this last night at carnegie hall. But seeing Nobuo play this himself must be a different level of insanity...both equally incredible!!
Anyone else wonder what Nobuo Uematsu and Hans Zimmer could do on a team up? This man is responsible for my love of music.
Definitely something we as human beings are not ready for.
I'd go one step further. Let's throw John Williams into the mix.
@@GCJACK83 The earth melts away from too much awesomeness one one place.
I would like to see nobuo uematsu and joe hisaishi to team up
So much of this motif was used for Ultemacias Castle.
Very similar style, but different compositions entirely. I think Uematsu was just revisiting his baroque chops for that piece.
ノビヨ師匠は日本の宝!
Oh my god this is the coolest thing I've ever seen in my entire life
With the added drums in the beginning it sounded like Court of The Crimson King lol this was fantastic, its like watching DaVinchi paint Mona Lisa, but a video game music man.
I never finished playing FF VI, my most fav game is FF IX, but dancing mad is really his masterpiece.
Goddamn this slaps so hard. What a performance
8までしかプレーしてませんが言うまでもなくこの曲が1番好きです!しかもノビヨ本人の演奏はさらに激アツですね〜!
Omg where has this been my whole life??? This is sick! Thanks for uploading!!
This masterpiece is so complex not even Nobuo Uematsu himself can play it without mistakes :-O
are you even supposed to play a song called dancing mad correctly?
Honestly considering Kefka stands for madness and chaos, I'd say that it being played "correctly" isn't even the point.
It's so rare that you see a musician play a live show like this without making some gaffs, it's all a part of the experience. Cleaner the better obviously, but if it sounds perfect, get real suspicious that you're watching pantomime.
@@chrispysaid yeah, composing and performing are two entirely different disciplines, he plays very well considering being less experienced on stage
nonsense.

The composer of my childhood.
Ok, this is the top 1 of the moments I would visit if I had a time machine. My favorite song ever, with master Uematsu, incredible vibes... thx for the upload !
Guitar solo at the end was rough for sure, dude was in his own world
you mean in a bad or good way?
@@RobinsMusic i think he means in a bad way. It's okay to do a bit of improvisation on solos, but he totally missed to emphasize on the right places, the crescendo feeling was fucked up. This solo is intended to sound powerfully dramatic, but it was just sterile and lifeless. No disrespect to Micho Okamiya, shit happens sometimes.
La vita vale la pena di essere vissuta anche solo per ascoltare maestri come Nobuo Uematsu.
Assolutamente sì!
This must have been so insane to see live
Look at the mad lad go. An absolute genius. Loving every second of this video.
How have I not seen this until now? This is amazing!
Does he tour?!
A masterpiece. Dude, thanks for sharing
Suspiciously reading his wikipedia entry, I am not surprised finding listed as one of his major influences there: _Emerson, Lake & Palmer._ ... ;-) I never played those games, had no idea thy have cool music like that :D
Palmer?? Like in Final Fantasy vii??
Uematsu is also a great fan of Rush and PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi, an italian progressive rock band) :)
That was my very first MAGFest, it was truly amazing
God he’s so cool
unmatched
pure art. Nobuo is the greatest to ever exist.
I would looooovvveeee to hear this live. Eaaily one of my most favorite tracks and love how it switches from pipe organ to Hammond electric organ. Beauty!
Fantastic performance from all of them
Art in motion.
From the build up, the organ mid section, to the hopeless/last stand outro
His magnum opus.
I remember being up front for this. EARTHBOUND PAPAS
Gotta love this is true mastepiece. Lost count how many times i have listened Dancing mad! ❤
Not sure about what just happen... So awesome
this is the final boss music of final fantasy 6
it incorporates elements of classical church music as the villian styles himself as God
as well as leitmotifs from many other parts of the story, bringing the entire soundtrack together in one insane sweeping finale
Thx for sharing this video! Seeing the maestro in action is something I’ve wanted to see for a long time 🤩🙌🏼
Uematsu = A GENIUS !!!!!!!
That’s an understatement
Thank you so much!❤

Holy fuck what did I find this morning! Amazing!
This is one of the most awesome videos to me!
One of the very few songs that has a bass guitar that is front and center and actually not only sounds good but I can hear it.
Bravo~ i feel all the souls are dancing mad with his music!!
Maestro! Very great!!!
Was he performing with The Black Mages? His concentration toward the end of the 4th movement is god-like. The master performing his own craft with the glorious feuge!
At this time he was performing with Earthbound Papas
All of the goosebumps. SO GOOD!!
FF6ってかなり古いけど海外ファン、こんなに熱狂するのね
This is the FF of my life, I so wish they would make a remake of it
When I played this game at age 14 I was shocked that the Super Famicom was capable of everything it did. Still my favorite of the series.
なにこれ最高じゃん
The only concert I ever saw live as an adult was Nine Inch Nails at a dingy club by accident because I got called in to bus that night. The only concert I ever WANTED to see was Nobuo, doing ANYTHING.
Final Fantasy 6....👏🏾😍💖🇧🇷
🇧🇷 finalmente encontrei um brasileiro no meio dos comentários dessa lenda tocando!
Dancing Mad is Uematsu's masterpiece. Birth of a God and One Winged Angel from FF7 don't even compare to this nearly 18 minute epic for the best villain in the series (Kefka).
There's actual fuege that'd make Bach blush. Dancing Mad is incredibly underrated, but among SNES-era FF fans, we know what the true gem is. Soundtrack was limited by the technology of its time, but surprised most new fans cast it aside since VII is the one getting all the remake hype.
If they did a VI today, it'd be rated M-- if done well. It's dark. Triggering...and the villain actually wins (for all intents and purposes) before you beat the game.
@@InDzienInTampa I wonder if thats the reason Square left Nintendo?? The playstation has less audio limitations.
Not only it is Uematsu's masterpiece, but it is A masterpiece as far as music goes. The amount of research, technicity, creativity, and love he poured onto it in absolutely insane (no pun intended). He onece said he would never consider it finished in his lifetime, as he always finds way to alter, improve and have fun with it. It can be played in ANY style and genre, and as a matter of fact it has been, not only by fans but by Uematsu himself. I think most people underestimate what it takes to create and refine such a piece. It's on a level very few musicians can comprehend and achieve.
Dude kefka is my favorite ff villain too

I have to think how lucky I was to be a literal 11 year old and get to hear music by the one of the best composers ever coming out of my SNES. Like damn so spoiled
I was a literal toddler when FF6 came out. And I probably wouldn't have understood it when I got into the Super NES for the first time in my life.
