Ngl. Legit Dancing Mad is one of the best songs ever written that many people will never experience because it was in a video game and not a church or something.
Very good song yes but you must lack a lot of culture to call it one the best song ever written. Beside, many songs where written especially for church and were forgotten very quickly and only rediscovered "recently". I am specificaly thinking about most of Vivaldi's work, like his stabat mater that was played only once before being rediscovered 200 years later i believe.
@@hasdrubal814It happens to me that I can't find classical or orchestral music or whatever you want to call it outside of video games that catches my attention. Is there really any song in the same style of dancing mad that even reaches the same level?
VGM pipe organist here... First of all: *HUGE compliments* for this amazing performance, Kara! Since you were well-known to me as a "piano only" soloist, there were a couple of things which instantly caught my eye from an organist's perspective: Your clean and upright posture on the bench, the well-exercised pedaling technique (which, as an info for all non-organists, is pretty difficult to perform precisely with this kind of heels on her cosplay shoes) and the distinct (and correct) organ-alike touch and articulation on the manuals, which differs a lot from the piano touch/articulation that must have been stuck in your fingers' muscle memory for ages. I could instantly recognise that you must have been taking quite a bunch of organ lessons before this recording in order to accomplish an optically and acoustically convincing performance like this --- and was confirmed by the description as I read along. For all who read this, professionals and non-professionals alike: Kara has accomplished an outstanding job here, as did her companions on filming, audio mixing/dubbing and, of course, her mentors. Let alone the tuning/temperament of both instruments: Finding a pipe organ that's perfectly in tune with an arbitrary (grand) piano from a completely different location is indeed a challenge, which would normally mean that one of the instruments (preferrably, the piano) would have to be retuned completely to match the other. Keeping audio and video in sync when shooting from different angles, with multiple cams and/or in multiple takes/sessions is _not_ an easy task as well and can be tricky to handle if you're not using pro tech equipment. Almost needless to say that your Terra/Kefka costumes are top notch and thus add a high-end finish to this awesome project. *CONGRATULATIONS* and a deep, deep bow from my side.
P.S. That's an instant addition to my "Featured Music" playlist, of course. In case you're looking for a bit of inspiration regarding your future projects, please feel free to browse my channel. Indeed, I'd feel honored if I could contribute something to your next success! :-)
Oh that’s so neat I’m so glad you found the video and thought it was good! I’m in no way a professional organist- I’ve taken a couple years of lessons but I was never super dedicated- lots of reasons, like just being too lazy to leave the house to practice my instrument 😂 but since I’ve been a pianist my whole life, and super in love with baroque music, I think I took quickly to the instrument. I see where my technique is flawed, but I learned a lot of great things about the organ like, as you said, not using the same type of bodily movement that you would on the piano (after all, using more energy isn’t going to make it louder!) I was a little concerned this might make the video less interesting and less intense, but I chose to be more musically accurate 😛 also I did not actually use these shoes to record, I have a pair of suede bottomed organ shoes haha! Just subscribed to your channel, thanks for sharing!!
@@KaraComparetto (and @WoodyofmC and @JimmyOnGuitar) - I fully concur with WoodyofmC - this is an outstanding accomplishment on many counts - not the least of which is the matched tuning between the organ and piano! I have watched dozens of versions of this piece, I can’t believe I have never seen this one. I could compliment every aspect of the piece and arrangement, but one thing in particular I found was that you put an equal amount of “effort” into the arrangement across the entire piece. One section did not feel left out or overdone compared to the others. I loved this.
thank you! yes when I arranged this I wanted to be sure that both instruments were using their full capacity, instead of just bits and pieces :) glad you noticed!

I just hope that future generations of kids will be able to appreciate these games and their soundtracks the way we did growing up. They will appreciate them if our generation helps share them! Just like classical music, we can pass this down generation after generation so it continues to be loved and shared!
Anybody else listen to this pretty much every day? It's fantastic. incredible piece of music, and Kara clearly put a TON of work in. Just read that years ago Game Spot did a "Reader's Choice" edition, and one of their polls was 'Greatest Video Game Villain of All Time', with 10 nominees and a write-in option. Two villains made the list as a write-in. Kefka was one of them, and he TOPPED the list at #1, as a write-in!!! Unbelievable. Such a great game, great story, great villain, great characters, and above all, great music.
I can't believe I'm two years late to this masterpiece. I can never experience this piece in real life with original instrument, not even the performance from distant worlds orchestra. Thank you for bringing one of my favorite music to live with its original instrument!
I would love someday to be able to perform this live on an organ, in an amazing church dressed as Kafka HAHA! For now this is the best I could do XD I'm glad you loved it!
The only thing this is missing is Kefka's laugh somewhere around 7:52 ish. My brain keeps anticipating it yet it never happens. Your organ work on this piece is an absolute blessing to my ears!
This track is Uemastsu's Holland opus in my opinion. And you did a good job recreating it. It's amazing considering Uemastsu had no musical training, yet he still created this masterpiece.
Wow. This is INCREDIBLE. I'm a huge FFVI nerd, have cosplayed both Terra and Kefka, and play the piano on occasion and this is EXACTLY the type of thing I was dreaming of seeing from someone else as Kefka's theme is far too complex for me to play. I just love the emotion you poured into this as well. I see a lot of artists who play everything technically correct but there's no often no passion in it. I love how full of emotion you are in this. It truly shines through. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece of art with us!
Oh wow that’s so cool! I wonder what your cosplay looks like? Would love to see! Terra is more of a closet cosplay but I thought it worked well. I’m starting to think of my costumes for the Chrono Trigger arrangement- I’d like to cosplay Schala and Queen Zeal! Thanks a lot for the compliment!!
「妖星乱舞」の壮大さが良く出てる。良い演奏だね。 Uematsu said in an interview for Pixel Remastered. It's a song that came out of the "Reckless Festival" development, where we all packed a lot of things in with our passion to "just make something good". That's why "Dancing Mad" is so difficult. It's a good arrangement, thank you for the wonderful music performance.
It's abundantly clear what you and Jimmy were going for in preparing this after reading the description. But I have to say, I loved how nearly every shot up until the end looked "up" to Kefka and "down" at Terra. Captures the tension and spirit of the final fight in the game with flying colors. And the arrangement was fantastic! Thank you for this Kara!!! And shoutouts to JimmyOnGuitar for having such great taste and skill so as to make this as good as it turned out to be! The only other thing(s), still looking for that FFVI full OST and now this as an adjacent single on your website store👌Thank you Kara! Looking forward to more organ adventures pandemic-willing.
Amazing job Kara! The battle between Terra (piano) and Kefka (pipe organ) turned out really poetic, you end up thinking about the story and events from the game and what each character are fighting for... Truly amazing!
I've been obsessed with video game music for my entire lifetime. I've watched countless videos, listened to thousands of remixes, covers and renditions of songs by Yasunori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu and all of the other greats of game music, and by far this video is the most impressive cover, remix, performance I've ever seen. This is a true masterpiece -- I would love to see this performed by a duet live. In fact that would be a bucket list opportunity. Bravo.
This is great. You really captured the essence of Uematsu's original track and of Amano's character designs. I particularly thought the use of different fabrics with widely varying colours and patterns was very much true to Amano's art. Excellent job.
♥ Everyones take on Dancing Mad is always fun to hear. From Soken's fairly faithful recreation for FFXIV to the metal versions. But everyone just goes HAM for the organ solo section.
Sokens is good til the final part, the bass sounds like blown out speakers to me and I just don't find it enjoyable, this version is pretty great though.
Agreed that Dancing Mad (and the FFVI soundtrack in general) is Uematsu's greatest achievement. This is a big one for you too! This is definitely a worthy cover for the epic that is Dancing Mad, bravo on your creativity.
I can’t even guess how difficult this must’ve been to learn to play, it’s amazing how you managed to do such a beautifully chaotic song justice like this!
This video is never short of amazing. This shows the power of great composition and amazing execution. Thanks for sharing this with all of us! This is why we keep coming back for more!
This is seriously amazing. FF6 is my personal favourite, partially for the music, and this honestly pays such great homage to Uematsu's work while also bringing a different emotion in. I love how much space this arrangement takes up. A real audio journey.
Absolutely awesome performance! Isn't it wild to think that Nobuo wrote a masterpiece like this, and then less than three years later he writes One Winged Angel?!
It's not only Nobuo's magnum opus but perhaps yours as well after reading about all the difficulty involved with recording this one, it's a brilliant performance and probably my favourite Dancing Mad cover at this point.
So glad that you "went big", thank you for giving this, one of the greatest Uematsu works, your skill and time. I was smiling through the whole thing and chills in a few parts. Bravo, Kara!
Such an incredible job! When I think that this song came out in 1994 (nearly 30 years ago) on 16-bit hardware, all it does is reiterate the sheer brilliance of Uematsu. The man wrote a masterpiece- truly Bach level arrangement, on such limiting hardware. Mwa hahaha!!!
Kara this is the definition of PERFECTION!! Everything about this is just epic…your costumes, your arrangement, the performance, the editing, is just SO GOOD that I don’t even want to hold back the tears of joy streaming down my face. How cool is that added harmony in the organ cadenza?!! You win the Internet today and for a very long time to come!!
Wow. In Dancing mad remixes, the black mages one will always be the best, but this comes in at a close second. My only criticism, is that I don't feel you quiteee captured the sorrow on the last bit. Now granted, in the black mages one, they make a guitar cry out and scream in pain, so I'm spoiled, but still quite good! Keep up the good work!
I've heard many different renditions of "Dancing Mad" on RUclips and many other sites. I've heard everything from piano only to orchestra to meta/rock renditions, etc. and this is my new favorite of it. Before reading the description, I could feel the conflict between Terra and Kefka in there so objective achieved! I'm looking forward to seeing your other videos after seeing how awesome this turned out to be!
This is a huge compliment, I appreciate this so much! I’m hoping to get another couple of piano/organ arrangements out for next year, but the process is long, so in the meantime I record piano covers, I hope you will enjoy them! My next one is probably boundless ocean from FFIII ☺️
Good goddess, the death glares that Terra was sending Kefka... totally giving off vibes that she is absolutely sick of his shit! And Kefka is just sitting there, menacingly, peacefully playing that pipe organ like the God of Magic that he is... Brava, Kara, you have earned a new subscriber!
Spectacular! I spent much of it on tenterhooks wondering how on earth you were going to represent the drums in the fourth movement. What a great arrangement!
This was so fantastic! The camera work was amazing artistry as well. A reminder of the best villain in all of Final Fantasy, the only one to actually accomplish their goal and the heros didn't get to walk away victorious, but hopeful that things could be okay after. The combination of oregon and piano was mesmerizing and your costumes were fantastic as well! This absolutely made my night!
Kara, your skill is something spectacular. I had goosebumps the whole time, especially in the finale. You know how much I love your covers and with this one you have outdone yourself, it shows all the passion you put into it. Please, never stop giving us these wonderful emotions! ❤
I've never commented on a video before, but this was too brilliant to resist! Great job by you and Jimmy. I loved the arrangement, I loved the playing, and I loved the photography. Also I enjoyed the spirit of the juxtaposition between Kefka'S god-like power at that point in the game with Terra's hope, which was so small. Also great Kefka cosplay!
This was absolutely amazing, Kara!!! I cannot fathom just how beautifully haunting this whole arrangement was! Heard some bits and pieces from the Piano Opera arrangement, but you really made this masterpiece your own! Thank you so much for your hard work and attention-to-detail! Absolute CHILLS from watching this from beginning to end!
AAAAAAHHH I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU OMG THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL IN EVERY WAY!!!!! 😭❤️😭❤️😭😭❤️😭😭 Production, costumes (so glad you bought those boots hahaha!!!), arrangement and playing, you just completely outdid yourself!!! Congratulations on finally bringing your dream project to fruition and kudos to @JimmyOnGuitar for the insane video work!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

This is an amazing and unforgettable masterpiece. One of the best of Dancing Mad. Love so much. You’ve brought Kefka’s essence to the fullest. Congrats!
I've seen many, MANY renditions of this piece. From solo amateurs to pros to bands and whole orchestras, like the Tokyo symphony. This version is the first to really compete with Uematsu's own metal band.
I am simply amazed by her skills for the 3rd movement. I only play violin and piano yet i understand the difficulty. Amazing cover of this amazing piece.
"Your constant encouragement and enthusiasm for what I do inspires me to keep playing, keep working hard, keep sharing." NO! It's a song that came out of the "Reckless Festival" development, where we all packed a lot of things in with our passion to "just make something good".
That's why "Dancing Mad" is so difficult.
It's a good arrangement, thank you for the wonderful music performance.
Thank you sooo much :)
This is amazing. Final Fantasy 6 is my favorite one. Kefka is seriously an underrated villain. It needs a remake. Would be so legit.
I love how you noticed these little nuances, makes all the hard work so worth it!! Thank you Connor!
I’m getting both dancing mad and the ffvi soundtrack up in the store ASAP! Maybe this weekend, it’s in the works!! And on streaming platforms too :)
I didn't notice that with the camera angles... That's bloody brilliant!
Bravo.
Wow thank you Jordan!! I might first have to clone myself to do a live performance myself 😁 but would certainly love to collab with someone on it!
This is great. You really captured the essence of Uematsu's original track and of Amano's character designs. I particularly thought the use of different fabrics with widely varying colours and patterns was very much true to Amano's art. Excellent job.
I had so much fun making that costume! Kefka’s pants and shirt came right from my own closet 😱
I came here to say this and was glad to see others had caught that detail!
Well Uematsu knows how to write for organ
Really loved the costumes! I haven't played the game in years, and I still instantly knew what you were going for. Great job!
You should be SO PROUD OF THIS! This is amazing! So well arranged, performed, recorded etc.etc.etc. You are amazing!
Thank you Sydney😭😭😭😭😭❤️
Kefka's shoes!! Haha, love them!
Agreed that Dancing Mad (and the FFVI soundtrack in general) is Uematsu's greatest achievement. This is a big one for you too! This is definitely a worthy cover for the epic that is Dancing Mad, bravo on your creativity.
Thank you Steve :)
I can’t even guess how difficult this must’ve been to learn to play, it’s amazing how you managed to do such a beautifully chaotic song justice like this!
Thank you David!!
One of my favorite songs in all of video game history. 🎶🤘
10/10 for the stylistic camera fade for the Kefka motif at 9:13
Dancing mad is one of my favorite song from FFVI
You played it perfectly! Thank you !
Regards from France
Thank you mario, greetings from New Hampshire!
This video is never short of amazing. This shows the power of great composition and amazing execution. Thanks for sharing this with all of us! This is why we keep coming back for more!
@@nathanbloom1844 thank you Nathan :)))
This is seriously amazing. FF6 is my personal favourite, partially for the music, and this honestly pays such great homage to Uematsu's work while also bringing a different emotion in. I love how much space this arrangement takes up. A real audio journey.
Yes it’s hard to beat the FFVI soundtrack!
Absolutely awesome performance! Isn't it wild to think that Nobuo wrote a masterpiece like this, and then less than three years later he writes One Winged Angel?!
FF6 story, characters and music is just amazing. Truly an inspiration for a lot of musicians. Lets appreciate it and Kara's playing 👌💜
It's not only Nobuo's magnum opus but perhaps yours as well after reading about all the difficulty involved with recording this one, it's a brilliant performance and probably my favourite Dancing Mad cover at this point.
Ahhhh thank you!!!
So glad that you "went big", thank you for giving this, one of the greatest Uematsu works, your skill and time. I was smiling through the whole thing and chills in a few parts. Bravo, Kara!
It would’ve been so hard to produce something sub par for such an incredible piece of music!!!
We Final Fantasy fans don't deserve you Kara.
This is absolutely amazing.
You've outdone yourself.
Thank you for sharing your work with us.
She is incredibly talented. Bravo 👏
Kara, this is insane. You bring so much love to these!!! Literally crying.
I love when you guys cry!! XD
Just like Kefka xD
The amount of focus and attention to play all three of those parts during that one organ section is just NOT something my brain is capable of.
Hahaha just lots and lots of practice!! 😆😆😆
Oh my goodness thank you 😭😭😭😭
@@KaraComparetto Awesome! I'm looking forward to that! XD
Good goddess, the death glares that Terra was sending Kefka... totally giving off vibes that she is absolutely sick of his shit! And Kefka is just sitting there, menacingly, peacefully playing that pipe organ like the God of Magic that he is...
Brava, Kara, you have earned a new subscriber!
thank you sooo much!!
Spectacular! I spent much of it on tenterhooks wondering how on earth you were going to represent the drums in the fourth movement. What a great arrangement!
HAHAHA well at least the piano has the percussion quality 😂
Absolutley insane. You're changing the game! Amazing!
I love to hear this, thank you so much!!
I sure hope someone showed this to Nobuo Uematsu...He deserves to see this!
Kara, your skill is something spectacular. I had goosebumps the whole time, especially in the finale. You know how much I love your covers and with this one you have outdone yourself, it shows all the passion you put into it. Please, never stop giving us these wonderful emotions! ❤
I’ve been doing it all these years because of you guys! I won’t stop if you guys don’t stop listening! ❤️
best version I've heard yet, but want one like this but with percussion
I've never commented on a video before, but this was too brilliant to resist! Great job by you and Jimmy. I loved the arrangement, I loved the playing, and I loved the photography. Also I enjoyed the spirit of the juxtaposition between Kefka'S god-like power at that point in the game with Terra's hope, which was so small. Also great Kefka cosplay!
Wow thank you! I am honored that you would come out of the woodwork for this!!
This is one of the best covers for this song
This was absolutely amazing, Kara!!! I cannot fathom just how beautifully haunting this whole arrangement was! Heard some bits and pieces from the Piano Opera arrangement, but you really made this masterpiece your own! Thank you so much for your hard work and attention-to-detail! Absolute CHILLS from watching this from beginning to end!
Thank you soooo much!!
I really hope everyone watching this can appreciate what a remarkable performance this is. Just wow. Thank god for youtube.
Yes I’m thankful too 😭
Kara, you really outdid yourself. I'm going to listen to this for years.
3 years later, still my favorite piece of yours!
This means so much to me coming from you, who are such an incredible arranger and cosplayer 😂😂😂😂 I remember we talked about the boots too haha!! That seems like ages ago. I hope we get to see each other again soon, I loved meeting up with you!!
Never heard dancing mad, now this is the best video I've ever seen
Wow I hope you enjoyed your first listen!!
honestly, i'll admit i've never even played final fantasy, but this sounds absolutely amazing
The first time I heard this piece was before I played the game too! But I still loved it :)
That dramatic close-up of you pulling out the Chimes stop. That's all I needed. (That's a lie, I needed the rest of this too.)
Yesssss I knew we needed a close up of that 😂😂😂
🤩This is f BRILLIANT!👏 cannot wait to see the rest!🥰👍
Sorta captures the insanity of Kefka in a whole new way, with it just being piano, and the pauses between some of the bars. Love this.
This is an amazing and unforgettable masterpiece. One of the best of Dancing Mad. Love so much. You’ve brought Kefka’s essence to the fullest. Congrats!
Wow thank you!!
When I eventually choose to dramatically descend into madness over a 12 minute period, it will surely be to this incredible arrangement.
I've seen many, MANY renditions of this piece. From solo amateurs to pros to bands and whole orchestras, like the Tokyo symphony. This version is the first to really compete with Uematsu's own metal band.
Wow what a compliment, thank you!!!
I am simply amazed by her skills for the 3rd movement. I only play violin and piano yet i understand the difficulty. Amazing cover of this amazing piece.
This was an absolute masterpiece! I love Dancing Mad!
"Your constant encouragement and enthusiasm for what I do inspires me to keep playing, keep working hard, keep sharing."
NO!
That's you, with your beautiful passion and art, that inspire us to keep working hard, do our best, dream for our goals and never give up until we will reach them!
Thank YOU, Kara. Thank YOU!
Esto es... es hermoso, bellísimo, sublime
La habilidad con la qué toca, el talento qué usted tiene... Dios, en serio hasta la piel se me erizo por tan hermoso vídeo 👏
Dear Kara, I can't believe what I watched seconds ago. I have to show respect to you and your skill and your imagination and your flow and your charisma and your tension and ... HOW WONDERFUL it is that every person on earth with internet has the ability to breath in this masterpiece of art ... for free! From time to time I record piano pieces on my own I learned by ear and it is always HARD work. BUT imagine YOUR PASSION and endurance to get this whole thing done ... WOW. I hope you always get the respect you deserve. Keep up every little thing ... it's magic. ❤
Thank you for this nice comment Alexander! Thankfully even though I upload this content for free, I am always always duly compensated for my work by my followers. It makes it possible to keep making more! :)
A perfect composition blessed with the perfect interpretation. Astonishing!
Cool! Love it! Great performances!
im 35. played through this game at 7 years old when it was released. still havnt found a source to evoke the feeling of mystisism this scene and song creates. it feels incredible to know theres someone who could be or even moreso passionate about final fantasy and the great nobuo uematsu
Please do the chrono trigger thing, I love that soundtrack
Yes! Please!
YES!!!!! CHRONO TRIGGER PLS
Kara's done lots of great Chrono Trigger pieces! Check 'em out! ruclips.net/user/KaraComparettosearch?query=chrono%20trigger
Chrono trigger music is some of the best out there. Definitely holds its own against FF6.
Thank you sooo much!!
Appreciate all the hard work that went into this one, Kara! Keep on reaching your goals, its great to see and hear the wonderful work you create.
I appreciate this Henry!
I want to say Kafka won this one, but in reality everyone who got to listen to this won. This is a musical gift
Why do you do this to me! It's so awesome that you did these recent recordings as I had personally been listening to Dancing Mad frequently while trading... and now I can have the pleasantry of you performing it. So much excite.
I’m so glad!! :)
You sure can play that organ!way to go!
If I could love this multiple times I absolutely would. This is astounding!
Just hearing you say this is all that matters!!
This is your best one. From drunk me and the funny Italian man
Congratulations on such an incredibly polished performance - it's all about the attention to detail! The back story in your description provides an appreciation of the hard work and persistence you went through over the past 18 months to turn vision to reality.
Edit: This arrangement is so much more 'complete' than the FFVI Piano Collections arrangement.
Thank you Alan, I appreciate this so much!
Revisiting this again and have now decided that the half step suspension in the organ at 10:40-10:41 is one of my favorite moments in the history of modern music and it deserves to be celebrated! ❤
that has to be my favorite 2 seconds too lol it was a lot of fun practicing that with just organ alone!
Amazing work!! I can only imagine how much effort this took to produce! 👏 👏 👏
Thank you so much Jake! Hope you have been well
11:01 complete chills and 11:20 was some awesome hand movement!
