      Just my 2 cents, if it were ever possible to do this song with the organ and some accompaniments, orchestral, drums, guitar, it would be the most remarkable and captivating song project I can possibly think of. I have no idea what the logistics would be but if there were ever something worth making happen, this is it.
      That being said, this is stunning all on it's own. Thanks for your hard work.

      I've given this piece quite a few sincere attempts at the piano. Sheet music doesn't really help beyond the learning phase. It's complex enough you need to know it by heart.
      The organ take is, yet again, another animal. Mind, this piece is extraordinarily difficult. There are videos of the Distant Worlds concert, here on RUclips where the organist at the Royal Albert Hall, who I expect to be world class, records quite a few mistakes, primarily in phases 2 and 3.
      This dude is sublimely skillful.

      It is more barroque/classic, that is for sure. But that doesn't mean it is superior than One Winged Angel, that I think is melodically superior. Dancing Mad had Movements like a classical piece of music. One Winged Angel is a modern song with a electric guitar and a "Bohemian Rhapsody like" structure (it is changing all the time and it maintains fresh for it) Both have their merits and both are amazing pieces if you ask me.

      ffxiv has a soundtrack with incredible melodic diversity. While there have been many fairly decent recreations of some of the more well known tracks, often they sqrew with the underlying melody and something is lost. This is one of those exceedingly rare occasions when full justice has been done to the original, thank you.

      It may actually be the key weight: whether this instrument specifically is, organists who play mechanically-actuated instruments (versus electrically-actuated) actually do have to press harder on the keys as more stops are drawn and the resistance from the wind pressure increases.

      the pedals.

    • @WoodymC
      @WoodymC 3 года назад

      @@Uncle_Smidge In fact, the organ was built in 2008...which actually makes it just a toddler in terms of age. Among "old-school" organists, playing without proper organ shoes is widely considered bad practice, as teachers will tell you that you're not in precise control of the pedals (which they're absolutely right about). Preserving the pedal keys is not the reason for that --- I'm sorry to disturb that romance but they're "just some pieces of wood" which can and will be replaced if defective. This is not a big deal.
      The reason why I'm personally practicing the bad habit of a "socks player", too, is a bit of more sensitivity and even more flexibility of the ankles when not wearing organ shoes. Of course, this results in a certain lack of accuracy, which leads to adjacent pedals being hit as well now and then, but allows for a better tactile sense to know where your feet currently reside on the pedals (which is very important).
