What about perdoname ? I almost bumped in to my Spanish speaking coworker and I said, "Perdoname". She said that I should say "disculpe" in that situation. She said that "perdoname" indicated much regret and is incorrect for this situation.

No, son la misma, pero disculpe es mas formal. Disculpe = Usted form, Disculpa = Tú form. Pero si va a interrumpir una conversación o hacerle una pregunta a una persona al azar, entonces puede usar el "usted" form.
