  • Hey house lovers and explorers! Today`s video I take a look at 2 different homes from the late 30`s/40`s period here in Adelaide when art deco was influencing architecture. The first is a huge home with huge rooms with a main entrance at the side of the home instead of the front.
The second home is a perfect example of how detail and class were put in to these period homes of the day. Although it was in a salvage process the real estate pics do it the justice it deserves. Both homes being lost now for redevelopment as usual. Hope you all enjoy the tours. Cheers for watching :-)

Our last two properties have been demolished and four townhouses built on them. We are now in our retirement home, with a huge yard like the others. I suppose once we have gone, this place will end up the same. So sad for future generations that there will be no room to grow vegetables, pick fruit from trees and explore the backyard and to live in homes like cardboard boxes with no character.

These houses always remind me of the song "Big yellow taxi"...
"They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot". ☹️

Thanks for the real estate photos showing what the 2nd home looked like before demolishing started. Both gorgeous old homes.

Hi Paul, another two beautiful homes lost forever by greedy developers who don’t care about heritage and history just to build ugly cheap boxes. 💔The real estate photos were stunning both had lots of character and charm. Thank you for the tour. 😊❤🌟x

@@urbexindigo5164 when I’m getting ready to watch your video I hit the like button, pause the video and read what you say about it in the description, and then listen to the intro music, which I love, and then watch the video😁. At the age of 79 and the way things are going in the world, I don’t see me ever seeing your country in person. So I enjoy seeing it through your videos. 👍😊💖

13:44 Darn, I was hoping for some unique treasures like abandoned carnival rides or something. Your anticipation showed as well.
The second one had some nice windows and the best curb appeal but if I had a choice I'd take the first for it's size.
    Thanks for the tours Paul!
    Stayin tuned! 👍🤠 🇺🇸

    Check the inside
    toilet stamped
    at the top it should
    tell how old
    the house is unless
    the toilet might have
    been replaced.

Another awesome explore mate you can just see how worn those timber floors are, another one bites the dust. Still a cool bathroom minus the basin, toilet and the artwork on the garage cool. The second Art Deco Dam but the photos showed the interior nice. They really went to town on this one salvaging what they could, its good to see mantles still intact. cool explore mate cheers.

    Bonjour d'Occitanie (France)

2 lovely homes. Shame they were demolished. How do you feel about old buildings, especially homes, being demolished for car parks? In my town there was an old church that dated back to the 1880s that was demolished for a carpark

I'd be happy living in either of these beautiful old homes, well before some philistine took to the second home with a sledgehammer anyway.
I'd have a trusty screwdriver on me to be salvaging those nice cabinet handles & the door handles too. Some may call that stealing but given what's going on I'd say that's neither here nor there.

While it would have been nice to see the 2nd one before, I'm glad to see that they are doing salvage work on at least some of the beautiful old homes. I don't think they do that much here in the US and it's really sad to see beautiful homes just bulldozed. I would love some of the old hardwood floors in the homes for my own living room. We were hoping we would find hardwood under our old carpet, but no such luck. Since the room is 25'X15', the cost for hardwood is prohibitive for us old folks. Anyway, thanks for recording these beautiful homes, so many of them with original decor intact. I do enjoy your channel.

It's important you follow up on what's replacing these homes. The reason is there must be a massive destruction of our heritage so as to bring in all these migrants. They must be building multi story flats. A2030
