Happy 303 day: Ambient Dub Techno Jam with 7x 303s

- Happy 3.03 day! What better way to celebrate than try something completely ridiculous and play 7x 303 at the same time? I was up for the challenge! While it might seem fairly easy, it actually did my head in for a while. I had to think about how to make this interesting, rather than have a stupid cacophony of acid bashing our ears. So I opted for the downtempo ambient dub like sound. In simple terms space the 303s out and give them room socially. Here it is and after the jam I provide some short commentary on my approach and how it was recorded. The jam was recorded in one single take, no additional sounds or post production. Please let me know what you think, am I crazy?

If there isn't chords it's not dub techno. Shame on Honeysmack for calling it dub techno. He SHOULD know better than that. If there isn't chord stabs then it's not dub techno. Learn the trademarks of the genre. Ambient techno is way more appropriate. Having a ton of machines is not a substitute for knowing the genre.
@@JillianPratt-kb2tt Dub Techno differs from other forms of techno in that it has a softer sound and a slower tempo. It combines elements of techno and dub music, such as its sparse, delay-heavy production and prominent bass. All of that is represented in this track.
@@MSHRadio-dj5zn A bunch of monosynths synced together with almost no resonance from almost all the voices he used... does not mean it's a dub techno track. There are no chords or chord stabs. It's a deep techno track at best. You can dick wag all you want. But you have nothing to swing with. After listening to your trax you definitely have no business schooling anyone what dub techno is. This term is getting thrown around like it's free candy at a carnival. Mostly new jacks that are Gen Z or clown millenials. But HoneySmack should know better. I think he missed the whole Dub Techno thing. He's trying to be Hardloor and then he has the nuts to call his deep ambient techno 303 track "dub techno". There is nothing dubby about it. It's not dub techno. But at least he actually has real TB-303's unlike you posers who dropped $179 and think you have a 303. You have a TD. Not to be confused with a $3000 real TB-303. Listen to a Quantec track (nothing about his sound is soft). This can go on forever trying to school you posers what dub techno is. Honeysmack is exacerbating the poserness by saying "303"s and setting the bar for these new jacks to be posers. Then he's calling this track dub techno. He's leading half you cats down the wrong path. But that's his base and fist pumpers. So easy to direct and fool. But chicks and dudes his age knows he's just riding that wave. And when he gets called out then all the little kids with starter beards come running to his rescue. I only see 2 real 303's in his set. The unmolested TB-303 and the Devilfish. The rest are clones. Some better than others. But trying to educate you new jacks is a waste of time. Doesn't bother me that you're walking around clueless. But Honeysmack knows better and he knows you young bucks will believe anything. Or maybe he doesn't. Ask DubMonitor and ask him if this is a dub techno track if my opinion doesn't hold any water with you clowns. I bet you $100 paypal that he says it's not.

I really dug the laid-back dub vibe of this jam, btw. Great use case for this many 303's (I've tried this same experiment a few years ago for 303 day, but ended up with, as you said, "cacophony of stupid noise" 🤣)
thank you, I try to remain crazy at all times. The Devilfish is right there don't you see it?!?! I do have a few filter cards for the Avalon, they're ok, but ultimately it changes the Avalon from a 303 to something else.
