Welcome to the first vlog of the MBK-1 journey where we will be sharing the full process from prototype to launch for our new mini bike, the MBK-1.
In this episode, we're racing against time and dwindling resources as we attempt to revolutionize the mini bike world. Faced with design challenges and manufacturing constraints, every decision we make could either make or break the dream. This story isn't just about building a mini bike; it's about our relentless pursuit of innovation, the thrill of creation, and our unwavering spirit as part of a startup on the brink of either groundbreaking success or heartfelt defeat.
Be sure to subscribe to see if we can do it, or if we will have to give it all up to and go back to a "real" job.

I have a couple suggestions that you may have already thought about. So the idea for the motor bolts to lock in. The flange of the piece you created needs to be much wider. When bolting down the engine there will be lost of force on those bolts. You don’t want those gauging into the motor plate. Also the center bolt that holds the forks would need to be a bit thicker then what you have. There will be a lots of force on that area of the bike. My personal like would be to have a wider rear tire then what you have on the front. Meaning if you could make it possible to have a wide tire would be great. This is a awesome project either way you go. I would like one myself. Don’t forget about Send cut Send. They maybe able to help. Good luck I will keep watching
Hey thanks for the suggestions, yes the washer for the lock has been updated as I agree with you completely. It is not twice as wide. And for the rigid version you have 10.5” of space for a pretty wide tire. The swing are is a bit thinner at 8.5 inches right now. But we may alter it a bit to work with a wider tire.
It’s cool to see you doing this as I designed my mini bike on solidworks for a digital design class I took about 2 years ago! I can’t wait to see the progress.
Thank you! I’d love to see what your designed. Did you ever build it?
Your really under rated for the quality of videos you make and how much effort you put in
I appreciate that, our motto is: Driven by Passion, Powered by Performance, Dedicated to Perfection. That is true in everything we do. 👍
You guys can do it
We hope so!!
it may be cheaper for you to buy a tig welder and a pipe bender. you can send out complex parts from CAD to sites like sendcutsend for laser or water cutting. then just use the welder to stick them together.
depending on how many iterations of prototypes you do, it might end up being dramatically cheaper, and only engaging a machine shop once you're ready for serial production.
That’s a great idea but unfortunately neither of us know how to tig weld and due to the complexity of the bends and the precision needed, we would need a CNC tube bender to ensure everything is identical from left to right. Also, working with an experienced machine shop means they can also look at it from a manufacturing perspective and help us refine the design to ensure it can be made safely and efficiently.
@@mantinimotors yeah, machine shops are great for feedback on how to reduce build complexity and keeping costs down. OTOH, welding isn't difficult to learn, especially if cosmetics aren't important
Haha, yeah it is true about the cosmetics. But honestly, if we are lucky enough to be selling 10 or more of these per month, then it would be much more efficient to work with a shop who not only can bend up to 100 frames per day but also has the experience to do strong clean welds that are also cosmetically appealing.
But perhaps one day we will have all the equipment and can do everything in house.
@@mantinimotors oh, yeah, i wasn't suggesting that you do production work in-house. I'm only talking about the prototyping phases, when you want to iterate on different designs. Once your design is locked down, then definitely give it to a real machine shop to build finished products for customers.
@@mmnootzenpoof Gotcha yeah, we would totlaly have gone that way if it wasn't for the complex tube bending and the CNC aluminum machining we need for the front end.
Definitely would purchase 👌👌
We appreciate that. Well if you are interested, be sure to register for the exclusive VIP presale on our website.
Ive been building and modifieing mini for 3 years now.
One thing id try and change is the neck bearings. Neck stem bearings wear out super fast on mini bikes.
Ive been using skf brand bearings, but they only hold up to about a year of hard use.
Im actually getting ready to 420cc swap a honda xr 100 for a friend.
Im super excited about this new project, while it wont be a "mini bike" it will have full suspension and front and rear brakes.
We agree, that is why we are going with a cup and cone bearing. It is far superior and more durable then the standard bearings found on most bikes.
@@mantinimotors I might have missed that part of the video but that's awesome man
*in my opinion* I'd like to see an upper tripple clamp that can use a common mc/atv handle bar.
@@snapfish89 these have the capability to mount any handlebars. We created plates that fit into the middle holes that you can mount handlebar risers too 👍
Man brother so close and absolutely sweet bike but you know them trikes they make these days have tight bends like that I would just stretch it and keep overall design deff one of a kind forsure and yall put alot of time and thinking into certain area's like adjustable handlebars rear shock it's badass
Thanks, yeah we put a lot of thought into this. We think the new design maintains the look while meeting the minimum requirements. The issue with the tight bends is that it would require multiple weld points. We want to frame to be single tube instead of 2 or 3.
swingarm pivot is really low, noticed a jack shaft in the cad model thats in the correct place for that pivot, i'll bet some people who buy this will try to run without the jackshaft and cry alot when the chain keeps falling off :)
it''s a beautiful design, hope you can solve the manufacturing issues (also those head bearings look tiny!)
In the model that is actually a chain tensioner but we have been working with the machine shop on the jackshaft to see if we can get it closer to the pivot tube. It will come with the jackshaft so no one should be riding this without it.
@@mantinimotorsGreat, you are aware of it, can't wait to see how it turns out now!
Damn I can't wait
Neither can we! We are really excited about the potential of this frame.
Legendary build coming up
We hope so. What do you like most?
@mantinimotors definitely the size and the moter mounts, can fit practically any moter in there and adjust it perfectly really cool, especially the swing arm, full suspension mini bikes are amazing this mini has it all, I love it
this felt like a netflix series. mbk1
That would be epic! Maybe one day we will have one.
I got a six seventy v twin predator motor I could put in that frame. Let me know how they work out.I might be interested in purchasing one. Great job guys.
That’s awesome! We will let you know for sure. I think it will fit perfectly!
Love it so cool 🎉 need one
Then be sure to register for the VIP presale coming very soon! www.mantini.co/
Hope yall make it and make affordable frames
Looking way cool guys !!!!
Thank you. I’m curious to know what you guys would do with one of these frames.
Build one crazy cool looking bike for sure!!
@@BustedKnucklesBuildsTexas For sure you would. What engine would you put in it?
You need to get this going I wouldn't want for anything if I got this ill see if someone can help in illinois
Appreciate that. We are hoping to make these available very soon!
I've seen somebody on RUclips say they had a place that would cut, bend & label with lasers off just plans. I did it or something.
Interesting. Do you know who it was?
I've watched all your videos and decided to post my question here. I have a custom, non-mini bike, project that I am designing and I am curious how you settled on an aluminum frame vs steel (DOM) tubing? Subbed.
Appreciate you following our journey. I’m not sure where we have said that we are building an aluminum frame, but the frame is in fact 1” steel tubing. The only aluminum parts are the triple clamps and jack shaft bearing housing. I’m not sure it would be economical to build a mini bike frame out of aluminum. Hopefully that clarifies a few things 👍
@@mantinimotors Thanks for the clarification.
Fatter tire in the rear. 12-14 " rear wheel and tire. Same for the front. Especially with the 670.
Do you mean a tire that is 12-14" wide? I know that is more common for drag bikes, but this is more of a cruiser. But with that said, we do have some ideas on how to adapt a wider wheel using a different swingarm. It is something we are currently brainstorming and if there is enough demand, we will put it into production for sure.
we need a bike that can keep up wth traffic
Well, you can put a larger engine in the MBK-1, so you should be able to keep up if you really want to.
I'm ready to purchase 🎉
Make sure to register for the VIP presale!! 👍
@@mantinimotors what’s the estimated cost of the mini bike?
@@Bobux2kplayer We don’t know until we build the actual prototype. But we will be announcing it during the upcoming presale very soon. So be sure to register for it on our website Mantini.co
@@mantinimotors Alright will be waiting!
Disk break front and rear?
Hydraulic and disc front and back. Since the MBK-1 is designed for power, we want to ensure you can stop.
Hate to say this but $5499 is absolutely outrageous just for the frame
You need to keep watching 👍
@@mantinimotors I really do enjoy your vids tho nothing personal keep it up
@@Ptl857 thank you, but if you didn’t watch till the end, then you wouldn’t have seen the real price reveal.
@@mantinimotors I wanna personally apologize I fully watched and I really found the true price and I wanna say sorry about that.I really hope you guys get something going with these mini bikes
@@Ptl857 no worries. We are glad to hear you watched the full video 👍
Your mini bike looks similar to a GTS mini bike frame
Which GTS frame, I don’t really see the similarities, but I could be looking at the wrong one.
cast the frame instead
So casting is a great solution for high volume as it is quite expensive to create all the molds. But the reason for wanting to go with CNC tube bending is for its precision and flexibility. We want to ensure consistent quality from one MBK-1 to the next. I think casting would be great for less complex parts for sure.
It’s not that mini
It’s isn’t much bigger than your average mini bike but I’d still consider it a mini.
The lines are bad. Like OCC of mini bikes.
Bad as in bad or bad as in good lol. Some people love OCC and others hate them. So I’m not sure how to read this comment haha. Hopefully good 👍
@@mantinimotors like bad not in a good way, love the work y'all doing but man take notes from OG frames. The Rup with a single down tube, straight lines, basic proportion recognition. Keep it classic but also modern will be the key!
@@mantinimotors I think we can all agree OCC did not age well. Pay homage to the classic styles.
Hopefully, those crits were constructive, definitely not trying to shit on yall because I know it's hard work.
@@savoie0721 at the end of the day not everyone is going to like every bike. So no worries. We wanted to go for different and we believe we have done that. We just don’t want to build boxy frames.
