  • The last trip to Wales really took its toll on the Yeti, and with another, longer, more demanding trip just around the corner, we needed to take a closer look at the damage and see what further modifications could be done to tackle what was going to be in store...
As per the Touareg video yesterday, we too needed some accommodation for the 2 day trip. Wanting to keep the weight to a minimum we went for the Tentbox Lite, as the name says this is the lightest of the range.
    Shop Tentbox here:

A massive thanks to Matt at www.haldexrepairs.co.uk too for sorting the Haldex ECU in such short notice!

I was amused when you guys started this project, but you're quite serious about making this little beastie very capable off road, great work & brilliant to follow, Rj in Oz

The yeti took a beating. I am surprised nothing more serious was broken after some of the hits it took

Loving the evolution of the Yeti and it's amazing ability off road.
Was also interested in the Haldex as you found iron filings in mine then replaced it with a second hand one a few weeks ago. Interesting to see the process. Works a treat now by the way.
I saw the Yeti in the yard with its roof tent and shiny paintwork so you must have just done it. 👍😀.
Contacted Haldex Repairs when I thought my problem may have been the pump. Seem very knowledgeable and good prices.

Never commented on this, but glad our last minute replacement controller did the job - and watching the video after it appears the mighty Yeti got the muddy job done.

Well done ,,,making some changes for the Yeti here, were goin to use comåposit plastics for under protection that can take massive hits from rocks and we will cut out more sections also for replacement as necesarry. custom bulit inside at the moment.

Loved the drive last show. Embarrassed your car is way cleaner than mine. And what is it with these aerial tents? They’ve sprung up like mushrooms on every other vehicle. And keep doing the under carriage inspections. Oddly engaging and make me grateful I try to stay out of stone country. Sorry to see front bumper go. Nice little roo bar though. All the best

This Yeti is mint. I thought I recognised a Barnsleh accent. That'll explain why I've seen cars with Darkside stickers knocking about these parts.

The Yeti is looking a beast now really entertaining and enjoying what you are doing. Wish you had done a Tiguan though 😂😂. Had the same fault on my 2016 Tiguan 5n Haldex pump. Despite it having a full VW service history. Surely is the Achilles heel especially when VW dont actually service the Haldex filter £175 lighter. The ECU doesn't look upto wading through mud and water either.

    • @DarksideDevelopments
      @DarksideDevelopments  2 года назад

You could do the exact same to a Tiguan haha. The haldex should have definitely been a service item on these. As standard they have breather holes but the new unit is now sealed

Guys will you PLEASE stop doing off-road crap and do more performance stuff. Off-road stuff is good sometimes but you get these great cars and engines then just wreck them with off-road tyres etc 😅😂

    • @pist0nbr0ke7

More power is not the only way to more performance - arguably the Touaregs and the Yeti are now 'performing' far beyond standard!
