    When you can't Even SAY,🎶
    MY NAME🎶
    Note: a few people have been calling me out on this and honestly that’s fair. In this video I mispronounced raiden’s name, and said Ray-Den and not Rai-Den. I’ve played MGS2 and Rising and the truth is… i have just been playing a lot of mortal Kombat. Kinda been binging through 9- MK1 for their stories so How they say Raiden was kinda burned into my mind at the time I made my video my fault😅

    • @sergioriggio1769
      @sergioriggio1769 5 месяцев назад +25

      Zero played himself and Skullface finished him off. Big Boss, on the other hand, "sold his comrades all over the world" (MGSV mission 22 reference) in order to return with the CIA. Giving up the renegade mercs and sandinistas he could establish the special unit of FoxHound at Langley in the strictly following years. And last but not least, he cheated death with the creation of doppelgangers and identical clones. For example there is no in-game confermation that Zanzibar's Big Boss is MSF's Vic Boss

    • @cantsuggestareasonablename9101
      @cantsuggestareasonablename9101 5 месяцев назад +6

      @@sergioriggio1769 Well zero allowed big boss cheat death for example he created venom snake for that specific reason. Zero also created the clones too. If zero didn’t create big boss clones or his doppelgänger then he would not be able to cheat death. Zero is underrated i believe and he is literally the mastermind of metal gear. He may have played himself but he allowed death to never touch big boss. I agree with you but zero isn’t dumb as you think he is.

    • @sergioriggio1769
      @sergioriggio1769 5 месяцев назад +3

      I know, Zero isn't dumb but he is the only one who did not seek to directly handle power. The billions his agents used and the English codes they built had the final goal to ensure the total supremacy of America over any country. He was indeed different from all the other Cipher's biggest operatives. Because they all tried to invest into a system where their role would have been essential. On the other hand Zero created an uncontrallable and self-sustaining system, which did not have any need of him. Doing so he put himself in an enormous danger but probably it did not really matter to him

      Half of the actions that the world attributed to Big Boss were never done by him. They were done by Venom.

      @daniel8181 19 дней назад +1

      @@handgun559 Why are you assuming that the credit for "the greatest soldier ever" is only contained within MGSV? He became a legend as naked, when he killed big boss, peacewalker and GZ were both boss, and basically nothing venom did made an impact outside of the diamond dog's bubble. Remember, total nuclear disarmament isnt canon, MG2 claimed (the real) boss was the only one with nukes, but MGS retconned that and stuck by its story for the rest of the series.
      Venom's only globally impactful actions were the defeat of sally and skullface, which never got a chance to be a problem outside afghanistan and africa, so nobody could possibly care.
      Hell, skullface dies thinking he got his shot at boss, but boss ends the game without every having a clue who the fuck he is.

    • @handgun559
      @handgun559 19 дней назад

      @daniel8181 you're completely missing my point to a degree where I think you're being intentionally obtuse...
      Half of all his achievements don't belong to him. THATS what I mean by "not the world's greatest soldier" anymore. Half of all the things that people attribute to being done by him, aren't. As in literally, cut his time he was alive in MG1 in half, and half of that is Big Boss, half of it is Venom. Cutting an amount of time in half wasn't supposed to be a puzzle.
      Please just understand. It's not that complicated.

    Been a Venom Fan since release
    I can respect other fan’s love for Hayter (and I do really like him in MGS1) but the way Snake is presented in GZ and TPP through the physical performance and directing/camara work, making him more stoic connected with me. And Kiefer’s more natural voice fits with the whole tone of MGSV
    And you are right, Diamond Dogs are so nice! lol…. I feel the narrative is, that whenever VS or DD as a whole had to make tough choices, or actually did something questionable; not the people on the inside, but those looking from the outside (or the ones rejected like Huey) created “dark legends” of this “villain” organization…
    Besides… during and after TPP, it’s the Patriots and it’s AI that would be controlling information around the world, so they too could be the ones painting BB and DD as villains…

      Chapter 2 in particular is one of the most misunderstood aspects of the game that people write off as "unfinished"; even though Hideo Kojima himself explain in the official guide book that killing off Skull Face at the end of Chapter 1 was meant to leave the player with a "lasting phantom pain after your target of vengeance is gone" for the duration of chapter 2...I think the repeated missions in chapter 2 also mean to represent the the cycle of vengeance...as the game puts it at the start "Just another day in a war with no end".

      I'm playing MGS V again after few years off, I still love the gameplay, but I didn't changed my mind about the story, who remains the worst of the canon MGS games. Skull Face is the most boring antagonist. I didn't care about him, so I didn't feel anything when he died and as he died in the middle of the fame, it was really anticlimatic, the game continues as nothing important happened.
      The revelation that we played a fake BB is stupid. What is even the point of cloning BB if you can turn a random dude into BB ?
      Quiet is the only interesting character in the entire cast. Huey is useless, Miller and Ocelot don't bring anything to the game... I really enjoyed the Paz storyline, but it is wasted as it's not BB experiencing the trauma of losing Paz but Venom. That makes no sense, why would Venom feels this way about Paz anyway ?

    My headcanon for what was meant to happen after chapter 2 is this:
    Chapter 3 - Fall (or something better, whatever)
    Chapter 2 ends with the big battle between Diamond Dogs and Eli's kingdom of the flies. Diamond Dogs wins, and the island is bombarded by Diamond Dogs to not leave a trace of what happened, making Venom think he allowed Eli to die. The children got recaptured by Diamond Dogs, and are given more military roles around the base to satiate their bloodlust. Things such as the second vocal cord outbreak and Quiet leaving still happen, putting a heavy toll on Venom's mind, but he moves on, with Diamond Dogs getting hired to do more jobs. The jobs become darker and more gruesome, such as recruiting child soldiers into his army, or having to silence people and maybe even former Diamond Dogs soldiers (such as how you're sometimes tasked in FOB events to take down former members who made their own PFs). You're given choices to be a good person, or to go further into being a demon. Most of the times though, you'll be forced to be a demon (maybe having to kill a child or two here and there). The Paz story line also still happens, but is more integrated into the story (such as when on a mission you'll see faint sightings of her, and eventually you run into her, and extract her back to Mother Base). The visions of Paz further develop, and eventually the truth is revealed she died long ago. This breaks Venom mentally, and Outer Heaven becomes more and more ruthless. Somewhere down the line this makes Miller leave Diamond Dogs and wreck parts of Mother Base, prompting it to be seen as unfit for a proper home to Diamond Dogs. Luckily, there have been signs of instability in South Africa, and you're sent on a couple of missions to destabilize the region, allowing for the takeover of Fortress Outer Heaven in a big final battle, and Outer Heaven being created as a nation, with Venom also approving the beginning of a new weapon: Metal Gear TX-55. The game "ends" here, and the player is now free to do what they want. However, once they reach 100% completion, a final mission is unlocked: Truth: The Man Who Sold The World. It shows a much older Venom, around the year 1995. There is trouble in Outer Heaven, with resistance fighters recently increasing, and foreign nations taking a bigger notice into the things going on inside Outer Heaven, mainly the construction of TX-55. Recently a spy had been captured from FOXHOUND, someone known as Gray Fox. Venom is hit while fighting against resistance fighters, and is temporarily able to see his true self in a reflection. He goes back to his quarters, looks in the mirror, and just like the truth ending, sees himself. He plays the tape in which the real Big Boss reveals the truth, and the cutscene plays out as it did like in MGSV. It then cuts to alarms going off all around Outer Heaven, with the self-destruct sequence having been activated after Solid Snake destroy Metal Gear TX-55. Venom and Solid meet, and a battle ensues. The player can fight as hard as they want, but no matter what they do, they cannot kill Solid Snake. Eventually once they die, Solid manages to flee Outer Heaven, and Venom receives a transmission from his iDroid. Big Boss tells him he did a great job, and will be remembered by him as a hero. The rest of the world will never have known of his existence, yet Venom is glad to have served under Big Boss. Big Boss tells him he no longer has to bear the title of Big Boss, and bids him farewell. Venom dies as Outer Heaven erupts, with "Here's To You" playing in the background.

    There's a youtuber named Jeremy Jahns that reviewed the game that first came out and he had an interesting perspective that I think could shed light on how Venom Snake fits into the story as well as the legend of Big Boss. He said: the future always echoes the past. Which fits thematically with the heroes a lot of the main characters of the story. The Boss was vilified for becoming the unsung hero during Operation Snake Eater, Big Boss was vilified by the world super powers because he gave soldiers a home and a nation meant for them, Solid Snake was vilified as an ecological terrorist for sinking the tanker which he was falsely blamed for just like the Boss was used as the scapegoat for the destruction of the research facility causing an international incident. There's also an argument to be made that both Solidus and Liquid Ocelot also fall into these patterns a bit because of what there true intentions are. In Solidus case he wanted to eliminate the Patriots which Solid Snake ended up doing anyway. Ocelot was basically forced to become a villain and take down the patriots because of his longstanding grudge against Zero for betraying Big Boss. When you think about it he was just siding with whoever was going against the Patriots and their A.I. Which is why he killed DARPA Chief Donald Anderson, why he probably killed Miller in MGS1 (MGSV lets us know why they're enemies), and why he wasn't mad at Snake for destroying the Patriots A.I. in MGS4.

    Alot of misinterpretation happens around Venoms dialogue. Heres how I saw it, Kojima threw as many subtle or obvious clues in the game that only careful fans would notice, reveals the plot as the story goes on. (Example: the AI pod saying "Snake, is that you? It cant be?"
    The different voice actor makes sense with venom not being the same person as big boss (therefore not the same voice actor), this was disguised under the fans annoyance at the voice actor change which was perfect to hide this detail.
    The lack of dialogue makes sense, Venom is new in the role and isnt quite sure how he should act or respond to most things (because he has little experience in the role). A hint is when he travels back to motherbase with Kaz he says "Kaz, tell me what to do, like you used to do".
    Venom performed exactly as anyone put in that position should have felt, confused, new and unconfident. Ocelot and Miller were there as guidance, thats why they do most of the narration. That's exactly how I would feel if I was in this scenario

    • @onglanh5329
      @onglanh5329 4 месяца назад

      IDK why MGS fans keep going with this narrative. It falls apart when you take into account the fact that both the real and the fake Snake share the same voice actor.
      There is different between a character being confused, out of place and having no personality at all, that what Venom Snake is.

    Aside from mission 51, I don't think MGSV left "many unanswered questions" or atleast questions that other games in the series didn't already answer...it was just the story of how Big Boss army of Outer Heaven was built (by his phantom in his imagine) and how it connects to the first Metal Gear on MSX.
    I will agree that mission 51 would have added more of "climactic" feel to the story though.

      MGSV had more than 6 hours of cutscenes and for the first time in the saga there had been a realistic approach to espionage. It's basically the only game where you can gather intel on the field and then analyze it through actual debriefing. Man, in the other games you couldn't even properly interrogate the soldiers: they would tell you their stepmother's middle name 😂

      I may seem one of the few MGSV "defenders" but I praise its originality.
      All the other titles have basically the same story: our hero Snake has to infiltrate an enemy fortress without questioning anything in order to destroy a new terrible weapon. Then he has to fight a pack of freaks that impersonificate emotions till he finds the weapon, which is too clunky to be actually used in combat. After its destruction Snake realizes he has been played by his team, again
      The only difference between these stories it's the change of settings. MGSV, on the other hand, has a unique plot which revolves around the importance of words, actual espionage and the reality of "third world" countries. All this is told by probably the best voice acting and scenography of the entire saga

    One thing people forget is that big boss's survival was actually explained in MG2, form his "death" in mg1. It was dr petrovitch who saved big boss and used parts from his Snatcher Project to turn him into a cyborg in MG2 (unrelated to cybrog boss from snakes revenge). But in the rerelase before V in the english release that explanation was removed from the game. Big Boss being in a coma also contradicts the original story of how big boss met grey fox. though that gies more credence to the other retcon of grey fox in portable ops though. In a way V tried to fix a plothole of MG1 whiel now creating plotholes in MG2.

    I honestly think they should have kept David as the real big boss and given kiefer the role of Venom. The other snakes are clones of the same man, while venom is a mental doppleganger in the same line as liquid and ocelot were.
    sure, it would be an awfully small amount of David, but i think it would have been a nice touch
    edit: They could have had Kiefer voice Ishmael at the start of the game and played it off with a casette tape later where BB and ocelot are talking along the lines of
    BB:"Wont he recognize my voice?"
    Ocelot:"No, since hes been undergoing hypnosis to think he's you he should still register your voice as his own for a while after waking up. a small side effect, but one thats to our advantage."
    I think that would be kinda on brand and a nice way to keep the illusion alive

    10:01 Uh i think you are misreading things here, they aren't really being "good guys" in a play way but this game like mgs3 gives "the real facets" of what we know about big boss, they aren't heartless monsters or All powerful messiah's like other characters through the series make Big Boss be out to be.
    Two big examples of that: First, Miller yes wanted to give proper instruction and give tools to the kids and Venom agrees but at first in the very same cutscene Venom simply wanted to make them work for DD and Miller wasn't agaisnt that per say he simply wanted to give them tools to do something else if they wanted but he wasn't using them and as we know later in tapes, Miller's caring over kids has nothing to do with morals but past trauma. Which gives us the full picture of Big Boss' use of Child soldiers in the MSX games.
    Second is that tape that for me is one of the best in the game which is about the origin of the nickname Shalashaska and they talk about gulags and Venom says "Forced research? That's not different from what we do here...." then ocelot's try to dismiss that by saying they are doing out of their free will in their belief on big boss and then venom says "... if they didn't wanted, they would leave?". Which give us another facet of how big boss kidnaped scientists to make force them to work for him in the old games just so for one of them to be revealed to be on Big Boss side on zanzibar

    Im more so of the line of thought that the main story in general needed a revamp. What this game was supposed to be was the wrap-up to MGS that answered as much as it could, so i think it would have been better had it done that instead of drifting off on a plot to stop a parasite that somehow gave us the ability to speak (i guess you can keep them, just remove the part where they somehow gave us the ability to speak. It seems wack even by mgs standards). You can keep things like quiet, but i would have preferred actual big boss.
    Essentially, have the game focus on how snake stops skullface, (who can still be working on his own agenda) , have him really hurt the patriots, and how he comes to be the biggest thorn in the patriots' side that eventually culminated in outer heaven.

    But then changing david hayter later on ruined the consistency. They should have had different voice for big boss from the beginning [aka mgs3] if they planned on having different voice for BB and kept hayter for voicing solid snake.
    Actually wasnt Solidus a perfect clone of BB? BB should have had Solidus' voice actor insted.

      Kojima actually wanted Kurt Russell to play Big Boss in Mgs3 but he turned it down.

    I'd like to comment on this whole "Your character is supposed to be evil thing"...if you want to portray "evil" realistically, then you need to understand that people you percieve as "evil" don't view themselves as such, but rather they perceive themselves as good guys.
    Even the worst of war criminals on earth like Hitler and Stalin for example, had humane sides to them and do good deeds from time to time (like how Venom is rescuing animals and helping children)....the fact he seems himself as a "demon" seems to be a manifestation of his inner guilt towards some things he had to do.
    When it comes to it, most "monsters" view their opposition as the monsters and vice versa...also lets not forget the fact that Venom Snake was thrown into the role of the "demon" he didn't ask for and that probably explains his mannerisms and why he "Waits for the player's input" as you put it.

      Great input and I can see where your coming from, for snake too see himself as a demon and mannerisms shows hints of a Deep Run trauma from the ground zeroes incident snake couldn’t face. And it feels dissapointing because eventually venom was supposed to go back to the same Camp omega from ground zeroes to face his demon but that got scrapped as well, wonderful input✌️

      @@2PhoneTyphoon Well, I actually looked into the whole "return to camp Omega" thing when the game initially came out and that turned out to be a mistranslation on the journalist's part.
      What Kojima meant at the time was the game's save data from GZ can influence some aspect of TTP (since you can upload it to TTP).
      But I do agree having camp Omega in TTP might have served as a good plot point.

    Hey, great video. I remember back then, when it was announced that Hayter would not be returning as Big Boss. The fandom was split and I was on the pro-Hayter side and boycotted V. Since then, I’ve watched playthru’s of V online, but have never played it myself. I understand people’s fondness for Venom and Diamond Dogs, but I still reject it. The series was finished with Peace Walker. Big Boss was already a villain at the end of that game (nukes, child soldiers, etc) and it even ended with “to be continued in Outer Heaven”. Also, the body double thing doesn’t make sense and instead of fixing a plot hole, actually really cheapens a good twist, that being Big Boss survives his first battle with Solid Snake and returns in mg2. The “mentor is really the villain” trope has been done in a handful of movies (Broken Arrow, Mission Impossible, Goldeneye) and it’s always really compelling to see the hero use what the villain has taught him and get the upper hand. The V twist ruins this in mg1 by saying, “well that Big Boss was this other guy”. It was a much better story when it was all one guy.

    INITAL THOUGHT:
    (Before watching the video completely)
    My thoughts, and “dislike” of the Venom Snake (don’t get me wrong though I like him just fine cos I kinda saw the twist coming a literal mile away and wasn’t invested in believing I was BB) but through it all- from MGS3 to MGSPW, BB’s journey to the darkside was looking pretty good (not like “good” but I guess, justifiable?) they were painting up a picture of how much BB went through in order to save the world, just to keep getting betrayed and it was looking like he was actually going to be a sympathetic villain, I wanted to see what would finally push his hand… pulling that trigger on nuclear Armageddon.
    When MGS:GZ dropped I played it immediately. I needed to know… turns out it was a 10 minute demo. I was pissed.
    The betrayal.
    Also- the destruction of mother base and what they did to Paz, despite her role in PW I’m like nah, she didn’t deserve all THAT. I’d probably have gone into Vengeance mode at that point.
    Instead, though… we get to play as Medic.
    A blank canvas who doesn’t have Boss’ motives.
    It felt like, we weren’t getting to see the most important part of BB’s journey. We were seeing the induction of Medic, who- for all we know- was merely that. A medic.
    No sins. No betrayal by the CIA, FOX, The Pentagon… never had to kill his mentor in a field of Bethlehem Star flowers.
    It’s like he’s just an innocent bystander trying to save lives one minute, and pulled into this LaLiLuLeLo bullshit the next.
    And he’s not the one that is making any of the decisions either. He’s just given a role to play on an oil rig for a PMC while others yell over comms about who to kill/abduct/rescue.
    That’s not BBs journey. Maybe BB already reached the final straw when they blew up Paz and attacked Mother Base.
    But it felt “incomplete”
    Then we had to play through an incomplete feeling game as someone who wasn’t even the target of all these Cypher attacks. And he’s just meant to fill the role of BB without ever having to endure it.
    It felt so… false?
    Like someone pretending to be a veteran and faking how they lost a leg in Afghanistan.
    Except he’s been implanted with memories that he was there. Medic is the victim, it’s worse than a sympathetic villain, he didn’t even know why he was doing half the stuff.
    At least if it was BB it would be like he KNOWS why he’s pulling the trigger. But medic only thinks he knows because of what he’s been implanted with and everything everyone else has told him is his “mission”
    The Boss laid down her life pretending to be the bad guy without needing to be hypnotized, she just followed her duty. She knew everything she’d sacrificed, everyone she’d loved, raised, lost… and any future plans she had would have to be abandoned. This was the mission. To die so that War wouldn’t break out.
    Venom was just a tool. He was basically told to do all that so he could be the “Big Bad” so that Outer Heaven would have a figurehead. He wasn’t the one I wanted to see…
    I wanted to learn about Saladin, not Ahab. Not Ishmael.
    I wanted to sympathize with him about what kinda world he sought to create while the rest of the world continued to spin all these stories of how “big boss was the ultimate soldier” and “ big boss was the ultimate evil” while still going, Browns, rescuing war orphans, and things

      FINAL THOUGHT:
      I think that this video somehow said the same things as I went into it thinking… there were a lot of things I found myself thinking “that’s exactly how I felt”
      But I wanted to get all my thoughts down in advance in the event this was the case- so I could put my “uninfluenced thoughts” down ahead of time to see if the video would change my mind.
      Altogether the video did a great job summing up my relationship with Venom, and I wasn’t upset about the voice change.
      It was jarring how un-snake-like he sounded… but to me it made sense.
      If you have Snake voicing Snavid AND his Dad, why not just have Hayter voice Liquid and Solidus? You wouldn’t… because they’re different people!
      I felt like they should have just had a different VA for MGS3 from the offset, but that game also had a bait and switch, two in fact.
      Every MGS has had a bait and switch… you want to play as Snake? Ok, for a while… oops now you’re this Barbie Doll Boy named Raiden.
      You want to play as Raiden? Ok but JK ITS Snavid in a mask! Oh you were ok with that? DOUBLE BLUFF he has his eye shot out! It was really Big Boss!
      You wanna play as BB? Ok, this is BB… JK it’s Snavid again, and he’s old!
      They can’t do that “bait and switch” if the VA is someone else from the get go, the fans know something is up.
      The end of MGS 4 where BB appears in the Graveyard, the surprise is performed flawlessly. But that VA had to be someone else… they can’t BOTH be voiced by Hayter.
      In an ideal “timeline” you would play Snake Eater right after MGS4 Like BB’s first mission and life flashing before his eyes, like if you watched Star Wars Episode 2 and 3 right after that “I *am* your father” part… the reveal showing the previous entries like a flashback.
      In that order you can have a New VA be introduced to voice “Jack” as he becomes “naked snake” and wiggles his way through the jungle of Tselinoyarsk.
      But Kojima likes to try and fan-bait by making us think that the “snake” we’re playing as is the one that we WANT to play as just before he pulls the curtain back. Every metal gear solid has done this from the minute we see a glimpse of a trailer.
      I kinda wish that Jack was voiced by the same person, or maybe son of the person who voices him in MGS4… it’s easy to age up your voice, but sounding younger than you are is hard (especially if you’re already ancient) they could have handled the transition better. Cos imagine the intrude N313 remake with Solid Snake facing down BB and both Big Boss on the Comms and the one you fight, AND Snavid all sound the bloody same.
      Who’s talking rn? Idk… hope their heads aren’t pixelated polygons nodding with no lip sync. Hayter can’t voice EVERYONE, he’s not Decoy Octopus.
